I love opinion minion! Note- yes medela kits and cups are nice- BUT they are expensive. Replacement parts are expensive. The parts are patented so there are not off brand budget friendly bits. MayMom has the old open system and a duck bill flange that will work with medela pumps and narrow neck bottles but it’s a duck bill system - like a little tiny narrow neck spectra kit -and so the MayMom kit valves are not interchangeable with the “one and done valve “ system that comes with the medela freestyle flex.
It is a bit annoying how Medela reuses a name for very different models. One example is the old Pump in style advanced vs. the new Pump in style max flow, the original was an open system with a pumping action different from any other pump I've seen (though that diaphragm has some similarity to a Symphony! (The front cover pops off a PISA for cleaning, take a look) while the new one is just a typical closed system pump. The Swing is another example, the old single pump was open system and not rechargeable, one can put four AA batteries in it to make it portable but that is expensive. The new double Swing is closed system and is rechargeable, very different from the other Swing with basically the same name. the Symphony and Sonata are both named after (I assume) musical compositions but are different names so no confusion. Though the Sonata claims to be inspired by the Symphony, and a Sonata sounds different that most conventional pumps, maybe a little like a PISA? (which as I said has some similarity in action to a Symphony) I haven't taken a Sonata apart to see, nor have I found the patent for it, but I have seen one of the Symphony patents so I know pretty much how they work, (and I have taken apart a PISA).
Im so excited you’re doing this series. Im a soon to be 4th time mom. Third time exclusive pumper. You were so helpful on my last pumping journey!
if only it wasnt too loud i would definitely buy it. can you suggest breast pumps with fast cycle speed like medela?

Have you tired the Swing Maxi with cups? I'm trying to compare the Swing Maxi with cups and the Elvie Stride.
Are they hospital grade?
