- Why! Why did they skip the idea to use the old party in slot one!
You can get these conversations with Richter, if you cheat/hack one of the old cast in slot one and fight the last battle.
I wanted to use the videos of the battle, but their quality really sucked, because of my camera, so you all have to accept these pictures wahaha!

Kratos: I don't know about Emil, but I trust Lloyd, I trust my son... And I have amends to make to Ratatosk...
Richter: Ratatosk is intent on destroying the world!
Kratos: Is what you're doing any different? You would sell this world for your petty revenge? You're no different than Mithos in that regard...
Richter: Huff... I guess that's how it would look from where you're standing...
Kratos: Our victory in regenerating this world came at the cost of many sacrifices... I will not allow you to undo all of our work...
Richter: Try it if you can, Kratos Aurion, Seraphim of Cruxis!
Kratos: Then blame your fate for what I must do...!

Presea's is the best: "Then why do you look so sad? I think you are only going to hurt Emil and yourself...Then I will stop you - for the world, for Emil, and for you."
Presea's the only person here I respect. Yes, Richter's definitely the bad guy and needs to go down but everyone's so used to being the hero that no one else except maybe Emil actually understands what Richter must be feeling and going through. Presea's the only one that didn't really spend time with Richter that actually notices how he feels. Even Colette who considered Richter a friend since he was kind to her makes this moment about defending the world and not reaching out to someone who's hurting. Presea's got it straight. Yes, obviously, saving the world is important, but they all know what happened with Mithos. Presea's the only one that gives a crap about trying to save Richter too which is rich coming from literally an ENTIRE PARTY that basically made it their creed to always go with the third option and save everyone. Also props to Raine for actually figuring out that Richter at least has a plan and isn't as insane as he probably looks to the rest of the cast.
Now I start to wonder what would happen if Kratos made a counterpoint like that.
Richter: So the survivor of Cruxis would lead this world to destruction.
Kratos: As far as I can tell, you're doing the same thing, selling the regenerated world to demons. I may not know him well, but the Ratatosk I met before wouldn't be this selfless.
Richter: Ratatosk would destroy the world! I may not understand your decision to support him, Seraphim, but you know what he could do.
Kratos: I know. The fact that I'm still alive even after facing him is living proof of his change.
Richter: Maybe you're slipping, Seraphim.
Kratos: Or maybe you're too wrapped up in the past to not face the future. Struggle against these holy chains, Richter. SHINING BIND!

Presea's is the best ^_^ I fully remember why I loved her so much in the first ToS.
I wish Kratos was still playable. A prefight conversation between Kratos and Richter would be awesome
4 years later I came up with one
Richter:"So the shepherd of regeneration will lead this world to destruction?"
Kratos:"My son trusts Emil and Ratatosk, and I shall trust them as well."
Richter:"Ratatosk is intent on destroying the world!"
Kratos:"If your actions are what you mean to do to 'save' the world, then the meaning of the word 'save' must have changed drastically from my knowledge."
Richter:"Hmmph, I guess thats how it would look from your perspective."
Kratos:"I ran away from the sins of my past and turned a blind eye to when Mithos split this world into two, I swore I would never make that mistake again. I will stop you here!"
Richter:"Try it if you can, Angel of Cruxis!I will take that Cruxis Crystal and use it to fulfill my wish!"
Kratos:"Then prepare yourself! I cannot die until I fulfill my duty!"

The last bit from Kratos sounds a bit weird to me though... How about:
Kratos: "Huff... Prepare yourself then...! I will not allow myself to die until my duty to this world is complete!"
When Sheena said "Demons" she reminded me of Mion/Shion Sonozaki from Higurashi, then I realized that they're the same voice actress XD

There's a different setup as you're fighting. Essentially Emil and Marta will speak to Richter, and in the middle of that conversation, Richter will address any additional party in your team, if there are any. But it's a different quote when he does. This is just what the conversations would sound like were you able to remove Marta and Emil from the active party entirely.
Not sure why, but Regal and Richter invoking "In the name of the moon" makes me giggle ^^"
(Shame they couldn't finish the game for the chronicles release. These quotes are great)

I know in the timeline, Tales of Phantasia would technically be the next game, but I still want a third game for this story.
My idea story is that there is actually “not” enough mana to created a seal for the door and the only way to get enough mana is go to Derris Kharlan. So Emil, Marta, and Tenebrae go to space to find Derris-Kharlan save Kratos from a universal threat and bring the mana back. That’s the first half of the game. The second will focus on another war to fight over the mana, where the rest of the cast gets involved, along with some new faces. What do you guys think? Lol
I'm quite happy that they seem to have stopped doing such stupid things: "oh, here is a game for the Box/Wii - and here is an even better version for the PS3"

@huptochao No. My guess is that they originally intended for people to play all characters. However, I have heard Namco say that they skipped many things because they had to rush and release the game, as it needed five more months of development but they had pushed the release date back too far already. Plus, you can put Marta in the first character slot too. It's not just Emil. :D

Well, they did the same in Vesperia. I guess, that they just translate everything they can find. In both cases it were "battle voices", so, I think at least, it was stored in the same place.
I wonder what would happen if you hacked Richter into your first slot of the team...

Not really. In fact it is normal that you can find this unused stuff ... through hacking... but it is not there for hackers/cheaters. It is just something they recorded because they thought they would use it and then in the end they did not. Well, it does not harm the game so they did not cut it. As I said you can find stuff like that in every single game. In ToS 1 there was a "rest data" of "Mithos PC" (a Mithos as you could play!) But it is not complete aka useless.
Thought so. still this makes me wonder what would happen if you hacked Richter in first slot during this battle. Either no dialogue at all, Default to slot 2, or just Emil (regardless if he's in the battle or not), or lock up.
I can guess either the game would glitch, or all of the opponent Richter's lines would play for a standard fight (i.e. against Emil), and nothing would play from the player's party. But that's just a mere guess.

how do you hack them into the first slot? I'm on my 3rd playthrough and still haven't figured it out.

i have played the game with ricther sidequest and on the main muew with the character solt i put Ricther in the first one and Emil in the 2nd slot

If you "cheat" yourself to Test Map 1 then there you can use most of the NPCs as an overworld chara but that´s it... I think it is "just" possible that you can somehow use the enemys as PC... but I do not know ^^"
These actually can be played in game but I you need to have one of them as the first party member which is impossible without hacks
The only way to make these trigger is to hack the ToS characters into the first player slot. This can't be done normally. Heace: "Hack Conversation"

No, no it's not. You can't get them in the front of your party EVER. You can get all the characters into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th slots, but only Emil or Marta can take up the first slot without cheating, The only battles hat follow this one are Emil vs. Marta and Lloyd (where you play as Emil and nothing else), and Normal Emil vs. Ratatosk-Emil.
Actually, Marta can also be in slot 1 with Emil out of the party. She has her own conversation if you leave Emil out of the active party. But yeah, I really dislike this game's mechanics: We're unable to level the original heroes, the fact that you can't play as monsters (really missed opportunity), the strategy is worthless and has no options, you can't modify the other characters' equipment, etc.
If you emulate the game you can level up the OG characters

Making this game was a waste to begin with. It was a huge disappointment compared to the first one.
I would actually consider trying to finish the game if the original cast was completely playable without hacks! I can't use Emil OR Marta, to save my life!

My question is why did that translate it is it was an imposable feature. I would understand is left over Japanese happened, but ENGLISH?! Did they not know you can't put anyone in the first slot other then Emil or Marta?
