On the Essex flange,I always used to draw around the external rubber seal before final fixing to give me a position so I new it was all central on final tightening. Good videos, keep ‘em coming
0:46 try flexible hose on the inside of the adapter, like silicon (dry no oil tight fit) pass washer over it then when its tight nut on pull the tube out of the centre unit
Always get the problem where hot water not being hot enough when the bath taps are fully open (full flow). Have to open bath tap half way in order for it to be hot enough. I have the same in my house, I changed the plate but still the same. Great info on the temperature rise in boiler manual. 👍🏻
Solder ring fittings - you've got Lawton fittings, so they will work as designed 🤘 no need to add any solder. Just flux and heat till you see the ring 🤪. I've had cheep ones fail though 💩. I rarely use them anyway but when I do I use ones I can trust 👍
When I’ve done the Essex flange in the past I’ve bent the wire over and tied some string to it as a safety net. And also that wire is designed to bend with a bit of pressure so it just pulls out
Great vid , You just pull the wire towards yourself firmly when finished on Essex flange it folds the legs back on itself and comes out (as per instructions)
The swarf from drilling the hole in that cylinder was going into your cup of tea below it,great content, how can I drain down my indirect copper cylinder for tic tank to take it out when there is no drain off, please advise
Alright P. Sounds daft, but you just randomly popped into my mind while I was thinking of something interesting to watch, and you were the first thought... And I've just noticed you've not posted anything for a while, I thought you'd gone quiet... as I quit all other socials I'm not sure if you're still active on other apps or whatever... Anyways, irrelevant, I'm waffling, I just thought I'd type in here to say that I hope you're okay and doing well, and thank you for your time and efforts with the videos over the years, you've been a big help and somewhat of an inspiration to me to carry on, also being a 3rd generation plumber myself... It's fucking tough out there. Hope you start posting again soon, all the best Pete and hope you have an awesome Christmas. Much love 😘
When I install a cylinder I join the hot outlet into a tee where the drain off is located. The result is completely even heat from top to bottom. (Destratification)
For the extra cost of solder ring over end feed, definitely DONT add solder, once you see the ring appear it job done, if you add solder just buy end feed 😂
Hey Mr PB, Totally unrelated to this video, got a mate with a noisey T6 coming from the dash, and remember you had something like this, can you remind me what video, and what it was in the end? Thanks in advance👍🏼
I am a Plumbing & heating engineer. And I’m considering the purchasing a press fitting tool. I have folded your channel for some time now and think it’s great. I would value your opinion on which press tool to buy. Alpha ? Novapress? Milwaukee? Rothenberger? Keep up the great work. Regards Richard
Hi PB it’s just out of from this plumbing video, I noticed will you doing this copper tank hole those copper bits was going in your coffee Please be careful mate
hi Pete am I right (remember from college water regs) that the cold supply shouldn't come from the mains and needs to be tapped into below the hot tapping in tank . because if someone turns off water supply would just have scouding water coming through shower ? I never hear anyone say or mention this when see shower fitted .
I couldn't understand why the pump was in the loft and not in the cylinder cupboard so you could take the feed off the household feed pipe so no air would get in
The manufacturer has gone to great lengths to add just the right amount of solder in the ring of the fitting. Why is it that people feel the need to flood the fitting with more solder? I don’t personally use solder ring myself much but when I do i definitely wouldn’t add more solder never have and I’ve never had a problem when using them with just the solder that’s within the fitting itself. Clean flux apply heat job done.
Great VIDEO When I do this I take the immersion out and feed a piece of solder through and out of the new hole this way you can cut A smaller hole. If using solder ring or not always ad solder they should be alright if you get a nice ring of solder around the joint. Regards Lawrence PETERS
Why are you fitting it the air bubbles track the side of the cylinder to top. Shower pump attachments have tube that takes water from away from the side
You don’t add solder as there integral capillary cooper fittings. No solder needed but you will need to clean both end of cooper pipe and fitting. Use flux to help the solder flow and join the two surfaces together. Hope that helps 👍
not the shavings flying into your coffee as you drilled ... lol
On the Essex flange,I always used to draw around the external rubber seal before final fixing to give me a position so I new it was all central on final tightening. Good videos, keep ‘em coming
You should use a flue brush when installing the flange instead of wire, works very well 👍.
Did you get those copper shavings in your tea doing that flange lol
Poor man's version of goldschlager right there
Nice sort on the mug of tea whilst drilling Pete 😂 great content to get us ready for what next week will throw at us 👊🏻
Great content as always, not done a Essex flange in ages, Got a Surrey flange to fit on Thursday. Thanks for taking the time to make the video Pete

Solder fittings are good. I add a little bit extra solder if I see its not fully wrapped around, but generally it always does.
Mans been Pumping Iron 💪
I am a joiner, I normally use end feed joints, but do add solder if I use these Yorkshire fittings , but only a little bit.
I get anxious just watching you do it😂
I can’t even tighten a new immersion in never mind that 😂😂
Only ever installed Surrey flanges. Never fancied fitting an Essex
Just gotta make sure you use protection
Great video again thanks nice to see you doing regular content again the Essex flange was interesting to see
When I’ve done the Essex flange in the past I’ve bent the wire over and tied some string to it as a safety net. And also that wire is designed to bend with a bit of pressure so it just pulls out
Hello there Pete! Thanks for another video I do enjoy and learn a lot from them here in 🇿🇦
The scariest thing about the shower flange install is trusting in that old gate valve on the tank feed!
Mate great video as always. I saw so much copper land in your tea drilling the hole in the cylinder 😅
Great vid , You just pull the wire towards yourself firmly when finished on Essex flange it folds the legs back on itself and comes out (as per instructions)
I hope you didn't drink that cup of tea after drilling that hole in the cylinder.😂
Worth watching just for the joke at the end 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks from Spain
The swarf from drilling the hole in that cylinder was going into your cup of tea below it,great content, how can I drain down my indirect copper cylinder for tic tank to take it out when there is no drain off, please advise
thank you a great video now my dad knows this
Try not to add solder, but if i dont visibility, see it i add some. I only use them because i work for a company that provide them

Great vid again mate keep them coming 🔥🔥
Do an updated van tour, I’ve just bought my first van and need some racking ideas!
I’m sure it says in the instructions that the pipe should extend through the flange to the center of the cylinder
For the extra cost of solder ring over end feed, definitely DONT add solder, once you see the ring appear it job done, if you add solder just buy end feed 😂
I allways use a Surrey flange no problem 👌
Taunting the laws of physics with that wire and copper
Hey Mr PB,
Totally unrelated to this video, got a mate with a noisey T6 coming from the dash, and remember you had something like this, can you remind me what video, and what it was in the end? Thanks in advance👍🏼
Haven't watched for ages; forgot how good your vids are. Cheers for doing them.
Novice Plumber - i use the self solder rings - havent had any leak (yet) - No need to add Additional Solder
Same as one off your other comments flue brush it’s so much easier and no squeaky bum time
Can you run your hot and cold direct from your bath to the loft, to feed your new digital shower?
I've done a couple, on my first one, i dropped the flange.
Hi PB it’s just out of from this plumbing video, I noticed will you doing this copper tank hole those copper bits was going in your coffee

You should do a vid trying to get the brass body back out once it’s fallen in, id pay to see it 😅
Did you flush the fillings out of the tank?
With all that masonry. How to you insulate your homes? Or do you at all?
I was having palpitations watching this 🙈🙈🙈
Do you ever use those bacho 15mm benders you used before?
no problem if you drop the flange in by mistake, just turn the cylinder upside down and shake it
Connect the wire to your roll of solder
I couldn't understand why the pump was in the loft and not in the cylinder cupboard so you could take the feed off the household feed pipe so no air would get in
Always add solder, those aren't propa Yorkshire fittings
plumbing saved my life
What happened to the REMS press gun?
Clean well and flux properly you will not need to add solder..
Hope you didn't want that coffee or tea 😆
haha I was just about to say how was the coffee :)
If I'm honest you didn't clearly show the installation of the boss clearly good tool your using though on your press fittings!!

I'm an Essex flange 😂😂😂😂i live in Romford Essex 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Vault boy and bioshock wallpaper… I’m being to suspect you’re a secret gaming nerd Pete. Have you seen the Fallout tv show that’s out in April ?
Drilling with a wholesaw....you never know if its coming off an being lost forever
Copper ❤❤❤ made from the ❤
Great VIDEO

copper shavings in your tea!
I use Yorkshire fittings but I also add solder 👍
But does the absolute shite nova press app work correctly on your press tool
The presoldered fittings are brilliant. I never had any problems with them and never had to add solder.
How many bits went in your coffee
Brilliant ep. We're get some new stock press valves out to you :)
I always ad solder
I like the idea of reading but it’s about £50/guy per month which soon adds up.
I've always used reel of solder and taken the immersion out feed it through and then no risk of dropping it inside
I wanna invent a tool to help with that job.....think there is any point?
Tradify is very expensive isn't it
Are you sole trader or limited
Gone again hope the old brain box is ok

Love your work ethic and work quality, however most plumbers never call back are unreliable and work quality and general attitude is poor.
Squeaky bum time Essex flange on a cylinder
🤜🤜👍🤠
Hope that was not your cup of tea there it was getting bits of copper in it 😅
