TNT: REVILUTION - DEAN OF DOOM - S1E20 (Season Finale)

Welcome to Dean of Doom, the show where we give grades to classic and contemporary Doom wads. Why? Because ranking things is fun. Today’s episode, and this season’s finale, will be dedicated to TNT: Revilution, the long-awaited unofficial sequel to my favorite half of Final Doom. It was released in 2017, and won Doomworld’s Mordeth Award that year, a distinction given to the wad with the longest development time: in this case almost a decade. TNT: Revilution’s tempestuous production history is beyond the scope of this video, but it’s worth noting two things: 1) The megawad "evilved," if you will, from a different TNT 2 project known as “Devilution” which remains unfinished, and 2) A member of the old TeamTNT, Jeremy Doyle, contributed music to Revilution. You know Doom is something special when you see the same faces coming back to it even twenty years later. TNT: Revilution was one of my earliest forays into custom megawads. I initially decided to play it because it was the ‘sequel’ to my favorite commercial megawad, but I quickly discovered that Revilution was more than just a TNT imitation, it was a passionate disciple that came to surpass its master. I had more fun replaying this megawad than I expected to, and I think you’ll agree that it’s a near-perfect bookend to the season.
