I have a very similar setup. I’ve got the CKS 300 series drive mounted to a brand new 459cc. I originally had my 670cc mounted but it was almost too much so I bought the 459. I want to do the gov delete but honestly don’t understand your video. It was my understanding, to delete the gov, you had to open the engine case and remove a gear or something. Is there anyway you can do a step by step video showing exactly what to do? I know that’s asking a lot. I appreciate this video. For what it’s worth, my 22.5hp ran 23mph on a 16/52 with two grown men, a full grown lab, 100+ decoys, a big yeti full of dew and the front of the boat has a custom deck that weighs 80lbs on its own. The 459cc is pushing the same rig right about 18-20mph. Drafts very little and is very agile rig.
So to delete governor you do have to open the gear casing but I didn’t want to go through all that what I simply did was attach my throttle cable directly to the carb from my understanding it is called a “governor bypass “
But i can make a step by step tomorrow hopefully it will be way more helpful so far i only seen 18 moh 2 guys at about 240 lbs 4 dozen decoys but i have a 14 ft so my water displacement right at max probably your 16ft should do better maybe
Hey there, I’m debating on what size surface drive to get, I want the power of a 22 horse but don’t want the weight. Would that set up you got push a 1648 through shallow sand in a current?
If you're not going to put a new cam in to shift the power band up to the higher RPM there's no point in deleting the governor. You'd be better off spending 60 bucks on Amazon to get a proper exhaust header and Mikuni clone carburetor.
@@coltensawyer6761 oh yeah you will definitely be fine i had myself and a buddy in the 1436 we both around 250 and we had 2 dozen decoys and hunting gear we were fine.
@@coltensawyer6761 i have a video on my profile called 1st time on mudskipper and you can see it was me and a buddy and we were still getting around 18 mph
I haven’t had a problem yet now on this predator before the bypass when i ran full throttle it would die on me i had to disconnect the air filter hose to let the tank breath and that solved that problem.
Im having issues with the motor idling too low after doing this, ive tried adjusting the idle screw but Its almost like it wants to start at 800 rpm and die right away.
Did you do it like in this video or like they do the 212 because my first try i did it using another video and it did the same thing thats when i figured out this motor specifically you have to do the opposite
I have the predator 459, stock with same boat as you on a SPS long tail kit. My engine is running so lean that at night i'm seeing blue flames come from the exhaust, are you experiencing this as well? I dont know why this is happening when the motor is all stock
@@hookedwithbryan I think its actually running rich if we are seeing flames - not enough air/fuel ratio extra fuel is burning off in the exhaust so maybe the carb jet is too big.. not sure. I was thinking that maybe removing the air box and exhaust and upgrading to cold air filter and new pipe to help it breath. Let me know what you think. What carb did you get?
I haven’t had a chance to test it out due to personal problems but before bypass i was getting 16 mph and did a 14 mile tound trip on a tank and a half.

It possibly could but I would 100% go with the 22-23hp

Did you just drill a hole for cable clamp to mount to start switch housing?
Yes
I unscrewed the start switch housing firat tho to see where the wires were running
How’s the tracker handle the weight of that setup ? Any flex ? Or swamping the boat ? Weight around like 140 right ?
handled it good except when you let off at plane the wake will catch up to you if you're not careful about it
@@hookedwithbryan it will most of the time be just me light gear and I’m only 180 pounds anyways so maybe it will be okay for me ?

Yes im actually also having a problem where i get it on full throttle for a little bit and it kills
Im going to try and put a new carb in it this week
Out the box the 459 is really lean you can try and change the jet size
Or they also have the air fuel mixture screw but that epa is in the way from what I understand
