I also loved And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I recently read The Five Little Pigs by Agatha Christie, its different from the other books she has read but I was I didn't not see the ending coming and all the little details came together so well.

You're the First BookTuber I've ever seen talk about The Song of the Lioness. I love all the Tortall Books, All those books are so good, I can re-read the The Song of The Lioness Quartet anytime! I'm really glad to hear you talk about them!!!

Definitely! It's always hard for me to pick top 5 or 10 books because it's so hard to compare books from different genres to each other. Glad we share the Hitchhiker love. And YES, I adore the Persepolis movie!

  • @larainebrotista

It was interesting to think about them writing their books at the same time and reading chapters to each other along the way. I think those two books definitely have the same feel to them. Hope you enjoy it!

Your video made me want to reread The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Also, the way you way you desribed Mrs. Dalloway made me want to pick it up. Like walking in the clouds? I definitely want to sign up for that.

I just finished reading Jane Eyre for the first time today. I LOVED it.
Murakami is always hard to explain... kind of surreal magical isolating worlds.
    I love that man!
I just got The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on my Kindle from my library's e-book site. Can't wait to read it!! :)
I really enjoyed this video & am always happy to see a new video from you.
Hope work is going well! :)

I read Extremely Loud first and thought The History of Love was a fantastic complement to it, but also incredible on its own. Those two books definitely have the same feel to them, but I haven't read anything else by either author so I can't really say how much they've influenced each other's writing. Definitely wanna read Everything is Illuminated also!

I love Jane Eyre as well. I would recommend (since you also like Hitchhiker's) Jasper Fforde's books, but especially The Eyre Affair which is the first book in his Thursday Next series, the plot revolves largely around Jane Eyre. His books are so so good. Also, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is one of my most favorite books ever. One of the series I've read that I would recommend to everyone I meet because I love them so much and they are just amazing. Also, Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor and Shadow & Bone (Grisha Trilogy, #1) and the sequels (though #3 isn't published yet) by Leigh Bardugo.

My husband and I really enjoy writing out lists of our likes, ex: Top Ten Beatles Songs, Top Ten Cover Songs, Top 100 Movies (okay, that one he did alone, a bit overwhelming for me!) Anyway, this is brilliant and right up our alley. I'm going to ask him to do this with me :)

Great video! So many books I love too, and many more to add to my to read list.
I'm a big Murakami fan and I've read almost all of his novels (except A Wild Sheep Chase). Oddly enough, Hard Boiled Wonderland is the only one I've started and not finished. I really need to pick it up again.
If you're looking for more Nora Ephron I'd suggest her novel Heartburn.
PS I just clicked on your Twitter and saw we share a birthday! Hope you had a great day.

Your voice is the absolute best to listen to, and your explanation of reading Mrs Dalloway makes me so excited to read it! I've read to the Lighthouse and Orlando (and the Hours by Michael Cunningham), so Mrs Dalloway is definitely high up on my to-read list. :) Virginia Woolf is just so. great. The language, ah..

I own the first Chaos Walking book and definitely wanna read it soon! Kafka on the Shore is definitely heavy on the surrealism, but very good! I was introduced to Murakami with Norwegian Wood, which is probably his most "realistic" novel.

I literally just bought that exact copy of Jane Eyre! :) I have been wanting to read more adult fiction and I think I'm going to use your list as a jumping point because my reading list have been taken over by YA for the longest time... forever it seems and I'm trying to broaden my horizon :) Thanks for the video! Great job and I'm so excited about these new reads!

Some of my all time fav books that I think you might like are: "To See & See Again: A Life in Iran and America" by Tara Bahrampour. Hard to find, but so worth it. I read it in one sitting. "Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Story of her childhood growing up in the 50s and loving the Dodgers - such a fun book. "The Charm School" by Nelson DeMille, spy novel set in Russia...sooo good & "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant....literally sighed out loud when I finished this one. :-)

    @larainebrotista  11 ปีที่แล้ว
