Grays are exciting. Unlike strong color, which is more stationary, the grays move and change. They're very mysterious. In the world of Oil painting we call them the " beautiful grays." 80 - 90% of all Master Works in Painting are composed of the very grays that Baron mentioned. Thanks for the video, Antonio. One special thing about your outfit in this video is that you wore a pocket square with a polo shirt and that is amazing. Rule #2 is is very important in my opinion!

i think grey is the most versatile colour out there. it works with black, brown, navy, etc!
black and navy / black and brown can get tricky. but as baron mentioned - whites, greys, navys and browns/khakis should build up the foundation of the wardrobe! just that in my humble opinion, i think black should come after these few are already in place.

That palette of neutrals is pretty much 85% of my wardrobe and it IS indeed the most effortless way to pick an outfit. Even if you go with a monochromatic outfir it works

Thanks! Again -- simplifying my life. I have Rule #4, checking my wardrobe out with my wife before heading out to a meeting. Why? First, until I started watching RMRS's videos, I was clueless re matching. But -- mainly -- because of the the following, repeated scenarios.. I'd put together what I thought was a great outfit (stripes with polka dots, busy patterns on jacket, shirt, tie, ...you get the picture). Then just before I left my wife would say: Are you REALLY wearing that today? Back to the closet! Thanks to your videos I can now leave our house with positive spousal wardrobe reviews!

Great vid. Seems a little impromptu in a good way. I agree with the skin tone remarks. There are 2 extremes that I feel skin tone comes into play. The 1st is for red heads that that have very pale skin can be washed out in whites and easy to avoid just avoid or minimize white in the wardrobe especially up top. You can wear a white dress shirt w / suit or blazer but avoid white polos or tees by themselves. 2nd skin tone related issue is regarding bright pastels. IMO bright pastels only look amazing against very dark skin. Otherwise avoid or go with a washed out, muted pastel in the tans, greys, light blues, sea foam green etc...
These are 3 great tips that I try to follow.

I agreed with rule number 3 which is not worrying about your skin tone when matching colors. Honestly i never think about that when putting an outfit together. That's a good point, no one ever mentions it.
You just need to make sure that it doesn't clash with your skin contrast.

It is good advice, but I think one has to bear in mind that Barron probably doesn't have to even consider matching skin tone because his skin tone is a happy medium which works with most things. I do agree with him that guys shouldn't obsess about it, but I think for example the very pale guy with an all-black outfit looks a bit off (unless you're deliberately going for a goth look). There are certainly some colors that don't work so well with me, so there is a grain of truth in the old saying.
Still, good to not become OCD about it, so an excellent tip still.

Great Vid! However, do you guys think the "skintone issue" applies to Redheads {that are partially color-blind no less!!} more than the rest of the population? I have heard we should avoid both Black and White. White does seem to wash me out, and I can't put my finger on it, but Black does not seem ideal either.
As such, my perceived challenge w/ creating a better wardrobe seems to center around choosing colors =\ Any detailed, organized advice w/ this would be greatly appreciated!

antonio, you know what would be really helpful ? a video on broken suits / seperates. i think the broken suit style can look very good if you pull it off right. your advice would be greatly appreciated.

My choice for third third rule would be to keep to a small number of colours. Less is more. There is no need to add every colour in your wardrobe.
The limit should be 3 colors
Big fan of this concept. The less brain energy you have to put into looking good is the more you can put into other endeavors in your life.
Could you make a video about casual clothing. Something someone would wear to school or get together with the guys. Light clothing

The "Skin-Tone Tip" is entirely valid, but should be confined to when you purchase items. After you've made the purchase, the remaining two tips should be perfectly adequate.

I will tend to slightly differ about the skin tone aspect imo. To me it really does matter but hey! maybe that's why am no fashion guru on you tube!
To be fair, it matters, but once you know the general colors that work well for your skin tone, you don't have to do more research every single time you get dressed :)

That's good you know that, and that's the whole point. Research it a bit, figure it out (which you have) and now you know! No need to overthink it once you've decided what you look great in and what you don't look great in.
