If you ever find yourself in and about florida or some of the historic places in Georgia such as Savanah, try some southern food, corn fritters, gator tail, southern barbeque in general. I know from another video that you love Disney world, if you havnt bre. I hope you get the chance

Fellow Scot here and I can relate to so much of this. My “born in to America” place was Memphis last May (and I’m going back in 10 weeks), and I fell in love with it all. The southern hospitality is amazing, every single person was SO nice. The southern accent. And there’s so much history in Memphis, in terms of music history and civil rights etc. You feel it everywhere you go.
And the biggest hotel in downtown Memphis lets anyone go up to the roof and you can see all around the city for miles. We went up one night in the dark, and seeing the cityscape all around me, all the big buildings and the lights, I was awestruck and emotional and briefly never wanted to come home. So I exactly understand the feeling you mentioned. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

People in the South have alot of Scottish and Irish ancestors. They settled that area of the US in the 1700s and 1800s. The Southern accent is a spin off of the Celtic accents .

I am a Native American of the Blackfoot Nation in the Siksika Tribe, and grew up in the Coastal Mountains of Oregon. On the mountain I grew up on in the large Evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest, my home overlooked the Pacific Ocean on one side, and I could see the Cascade Volcanoes and the Willamette Valley on the other. I am also a US Army Military Police Veteran, and fought alongside some brave Scotts in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Kosovo [thanks for the tea guys...I actually still have a baggy saved from '96 as a keepsake yall gave me xxoo].
Since you seem to like American food, and didn't get to come out to one of our Native American Reservations or Powwows, I thought I'd share it with you, and you can make it in your home in Scotland for a little taste of 'Merica.
We Native's call it: Banana Boats. It's what yall would call a "dessert" or a "treat". You take a nice fresh banana [try NOT to use the banana's with the black spotted peels. Use those for banana bread] and cut carefully cut down the "J" part of the banana. On one side of the banana inside the peel, put pieces of your favorite chocolate candy bars [we use Hershey's but I don't recall seeing that in Scotland when I was there...use whatever chocolate candy bar kind of treat you want]. On the other side of the banana in the peel, place some marshmallows [if the tiny marshmallows are all you have then use them. if the giant marshmallows are all you have then break/cut it into smaller pieces to fit between the peel and the banana]. Now we usually have a HUGE bonfire at our Powwows where we place our banana boats close to the fire and allow the chocolate and the marshmallows to melt. You may not be able to have that or even live in a place to make one in Scotland unless you live in the Highlands or a farm. So using a microwave works too, just be careful to keep it on "low" as marshmallows and microwaves can be......sporty....lol. So keep an eye on it. You can also use a baking oven. Just keep it on low...like not above 250F...place your banana boats on a cookie/biscuit tray in the oven, just wait long enough for the chocolate and marshmallows to melt, and they will be ready to eat. Once the chocolate is melted [really depends on your microwave setting...could take 1 minute or as little as 30 seconds] the peel of the banana will serve as your bowel, and you can start eating your banana as soon as you like! You can also add whipped cream, cherries, and nuts to give it a "banana split" flavor.
Not everyone can afford to come to America, but maybe this will bring a little bit of America to yall across the pond from us Native Americans. Its nearly our Thanksgiving here, so Happy Thanksgiving to you Scotts, and my husband and I hope to make it out to your nation in the next few years. If you see a woman in her mid 40s wearing Native American regalia, yup....that will be me! Cant wait to visit my old friends from my military days, pay my respects to your fallen brave men and women who I served with, and enjoy your culture [and that of my husband....yup....I married me a Yankee mutt whose ancestors come from Scotland and Wales...a good "Southern" gent from Missouri who is as kind and strong as the men I served with from the "motherland" of Scotland]. I want to visit one last time before my time on earth is done. Anywhooooooo, nice video young lady [lass], and I hope you are able to make a nice career out of TH-cam and get to visit more of America, and the world.
    I'Taamomohkatoyiiksistsikomi: Happy Holidays!

@Kevin Oloane are you drunk, high, or just born stupid? Do copy and paste where I said anywhere on international social media, MSM, magazine, newspaper, or book where I mentioned anything about who landed on the North/South American Continent first. BTW....in my tribe, we do do DNA testing, and not ONE of us have "Chinese" DNA in us. We do have Mongolian, Indonesian, and Japanese in us. You are making assumptions out your six as you troll and shill social media, vomiting up what THEORIES...NOT FACTS...that you have been force fed via propaganda and a pushed narrative. Its like saying we Natives are "savages" when our peoples lived thousands of years in relative peace, compared to the rest of the world, with no words for "liar" or "owner of land" in our languages until the peoples of Africa, Europe, and Asia came here after 1492. As for me being or not being "Native", do tell everyone who my parents, grandparents, Native Status, tribes that I have family in [not counting Blackfoot], where I was born, and so on. It should be easy since you claim I am not Native American. Though this young lady's not the platform for your behavior or shaq mobile's, its been nice watching you both behave the way you do....and yet Native Americans are still known in history to be the "savages". Keep up the propaganda, lies, trolling, and shillery there slick. Its been entertaining! lol

@@coyalyons6049 GREAT! You claim to be Seneca of the Iroquois! Maybe they can teach you how to read the American dialect someday! Kevin said "CHINESE" not "ORIENT or ASIA" slick! Do you know the difference? How many SOVEREIGN NATIONS make up the Orient in Asia? Do you know? Or were all you taught was "CHINA!" The post you made is as stupid as someone eating at a Japanese Restaurant and claiming they are eating Chinese. Its like someone hiring a Vietnamese or Korean employee and calling them a Chinaman. We have over 250 Federally Recognized Native American SEPERATE NATIONS in the USA alone, not counting the ones the USA/Canadian federal governments DONT recognize. I CLEARLY stated I am Blackfoot! NOT SENECA! The DNA in my veins and that of my tribe DIFFERS from you and your tribe, as it does all the other tribes! I studied forensic profiling and forensic geography in Pierce College, University of Winnipeg, and in Bonne University where I tested my own DNA, that of test subjects in my own tribe, and other test subjects. NONE of the people in my tribe had "CHINESE" DNA in us! We DID have OTHER Asian/European blood in us, WHICH I SAID IN MY POST. If it was too hard for you to read you might want to consider hiring a tutor for you and have them read it back to you.
How many SOVEREIGN NATIONS make up the CONTINENT OF ASIA? How many of THOSE are "Oriental"? Or is "CHINA" the only nation that your brain can think of? Your post is as stupid as someone eating at a Japanese Restaurant and saying its "Chinese". Its as stupid as someone hiring Vietnamese or Korean employees and saying they are "Chinamen". Have you even seen a globe, map, or atlas? Have you been to Asia? I have. I was stationed in Korea. And NONE of them are "CHINESE" although Chinese men come there to kidnap women because their socialist nation only allows them to have one child [a law recently amended to 2 children], and the females were executed.
Have YOU EVER took your own DNA, test subjects of your tribe/nation, and other test subjects of people with different epidermis and TESTED IT YOURSELF? I have. I already said what I found in our DNA, AND IT WASNT CHINESE! Tell me, is the nation I mentioned "ASIAN" or "FROM THE ORIENT" slick? If you dont know, do go to the library and get a map, hire a tutor, or even access it on the computer. That is your choice though to educate yourself, as I am not going to force you to take a vaccine of education to fight the "Stupid" virus, because I hate slavery in ALL its forms, unlike you as clearly evident in your foul mouth uneducated slavery post. You are just regurgitating FAKE INFORMATION pushed onto the world by Radical Socialist Liberals....that SAME idiots who called US SAVAGES while they burned women at the stake just for learning how to spell their name. [Sounds familiar to current Islam doesnt it]. Do explain the current DNA testing that went on in Mongolia with "blond" Mongolian test subjects WHO NEVER LEFT THEIR NATIONS that tested with high Mitochondrial DNA markers for Amazonian Tribal Blood. That must be the "Chinese" doing too huh? Where is Mongolia? Is it ALL a part of Asia? OR is it made up of a European nation/Continent as well? No one should be as ignorant as you and Kevin are about your own people with true information at your very fingertips! Suggestion: when reading "history" try RESEARCHING THE RESEARCHERS! WHO funded them. WHERE did they get their test subjects. HOW did they do their scientific methods to rule out contamination? WHAT was their PAID obligations to their sponsors/employers? DID they have a team of historians made up of multiple faiths, non-faiths, political parties, races, sex, and educated in different schools of thought? OR, were they ALL THE SAME, THINK THE SAME, TAUGHT IN THE SAME PLACE, SHARE THE SAME EXACT BELIEFS? How is THAT a true "diversity" of thought to conclude ANY form of real unbiased conclusions if they ALL are the same? So, if you CHOOSE to hire a tutor and re-read what I posted to where you can comprehend the basic American Dialect, maybe try again! Or, you can choose to suppress the freedom of thought, freedom of education, freedom of speech just like the same Radical Socialist Liberals from around the world suppressed our original Native Tongue...funny....did they do that to the Scotts and the Irish as well? The PUBLIC....regular folks...THINKING FOR THEMSELVES are what those "NWO/Elitist" are most scared of. As long as you believe their lies, propaganda, projection, and are good little slaves, you allow them to be in complete control of you, your future, and allow them to even rewrite your past inaccurately. DNA has proven their lies wrong, just like Technology as proven the MSM to be FAKE NEWS. Before you go all "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" on me, no, Im not a Republican at all, nor have I ever been. A good hacker could show you my real name, and also bring up my voter Registration and prove Ive always been an Independent Voter. Why? I prefer to hear both sides to a story and THINK FOR MYSELF instead of have some major political party tell me how to think.
Radical Socialist Liberals: keeping slavery alive in the USA since 28 January 1828. Sad that Native Americans cheer for it.

One of the key things here is that you were able to experience Americans as individuals. I can remember growing up in the USA in the 80’s during the Cold War and all the animosity towards Russians. And I can also remember how exciting it was to meet an actual Russian during that time and how much it tickled me to find out we were both Beatles fans. It is truly a wonderful thing to meet with people and not governments.

Come to Louisiana in April or May and try boiled crawfish (preferably boiled in Zatarain’s Shrimp and Crab Boil and sprinkled with Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning). The corn and potatoes boiled in with the crawfish are also delicious. The best way to have them is on a table spread with newspaper.
Also, if you like corn dogs, try corn bread fresh out of the oven with butter on top. Another Southern specialty is sweet (iced) tea. You probably didn’t see either of those items in Boston or New York.

Thank you for being so excited about the U.S.! It is refreshing hearing all of the positive things you have to say about America. I think the thing I enjoy the most about living here is the variety. I'm from Ohio, so we get all four distinct seasons. Go south to Florida and you get tropical weather. Go out west and you get the vast, flat, Plains. Head down to the southwest and you get the desert. We have the beautiful Appalachian/Smokey Mountains here in the east and the giant Rocky Mountains out west. Really, whatever topography, climate, scenery, etc. you are looking for, you can find it somewhere in the U.S. If you make it back to the U.S., where do you plan on visiting next?

I live in America and yes, I love your accent! I was fortunate enough to visit England and
Scotland in 2014. Of course you're right about how "young" we are. Especially seeing the castles in London and Edinburgh. We loved the train system in Edinburgh. So easy to get around. Very easy to walk from place to place. Unlike in the US where places are so far apart that we drive everywhere. I enjoyed hearing the bagpipes being played. I know it's a tourist thing, but we had to get our photos taken with the guy playing them (we tipped him well) LOL I also really like the various tartans by family. Really beautiful cashmere, too! I would like to come back. I was surprised we didn't see more Highland cows (the hairy ones) when we were driving in the Highlands. But, our stop at the Dewar's distillery made up for it. Hahaha. Love your videos!

So nice to hear you are expanding your horizons by exploring the world a bit. Glad you chose the USA to explore. Over the course of a lifetime I still havn't seen the entire USA, but I can tell you this... Every place you go in this huge country is going to claim the best food of some type. And in their own way, they will be right. Because so many different cultures went into building this nation, there is a huge variety of different types of food and ways to prepare it. I don't think you could possibly realize how large this country is without at least one or two serious road trips. If you get the chance, take a trip all the way down the East coast, or be even more daring and do a full cross country trip. Just plan to be on the road a while. Once you hit the midwest their are huge ranches and farms that seem to go on forever. You can drive a whole day at highway speed and still be on the same piece of property. The scale is beyond description without having experienced it. The wide open plains, the towering mountains, the awe that is the Grand Canyon or the majesty of Yosemite. We call these national parks. Europeans would thing each of them to be a nation unto themselves. They really are that large. Imagine a field of grass that is large enough to hold a million bison thundering as one heard for so far that you can't see the end of it. Then imagine a forest of old growth trees that are as high and higher than any of those buildings you saw in Boston.
What you saw is such a tiny part of the USA that you just don't realize how much you didn't see. Be sure to come back and see a whole lot more. We love people with your spirit! It's what made this the nation that it is.

I have close family friends from Scotland who I’ve known since I was just a kid in 1984. Our families have done many trips together both in the states and the U.K., gone to each other’s weddings, and many other things. It’s always interesting to me how much we as Americans love so many things in Scotland, that are either the exact things that are Scottish friends are tired of, or are just very commonplace, while with our Scottish friends it’s almost the exact opposite for them with things in the states. Much like you describe about fire hydrants or sewer covers. For example, my female Scottish friend loves NASCAR, Ray Ban sunglasses, and Budweiser. While there are a lot of Americans who are into those things, many Americans stick their noses up at those things. Or as Americans we love seeing round red post boxes around Britain, or black cabs in London. But for Brits it’s a very normal or boring thing that they may be tired of.

I live in what I call the "Greater Los Angeles Metro Sprawl" (the GLAMS ;) and while there are annoyances like with any big city, there's amazing things about it; at a certain time of the year, it's entirely possible to go snow skiing in the morning and surfing later in the day. The heat? You should visit us in the Midwest. Here in Kansas City we get up to over 100 in the summer (40C +) with 100% humidity. Sometimes it does not get below 90 (32C) at night. Then in winter we can be -10 (-20C) and snow or ice. Heck, last week we had a day that started out at almost 60(15C) and the temp dropped all day and between noon and 5 pm we had periods of total sunlight and blue skies followed by 10 - 20 minutes total white out blizzard conditions and then sun and clear again (that repeated several times that afternoon) with the temp at 24 (-4C)...then it rained that night . As we like to say, don't like the weather here? Wait 10 minutes...it'll change. If you get further south (Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana) the heat is even worse, but the winters start to moderate. Up north of us they get much colder/snowier winters but the heat is not as bad.

Philly comes close, but Boston revels in it. There are certainly lots of sights of various kinds to see, but I think for any tourist, especially one from a northern or wet climate, my number one suggestion for natural, awe-inspiring beauty to see is the Grand Canyon. It's one thing to see it in pictures, and quite another to stand at the edge.

the interesting thing about this, many Americans would absolutely love seeing Scotland and how paid back it is politely stated, how simply things are there, vs. America it is very difficult to slow things down here and be able to just take a moment to appreciate life, right where one stands, no matter where it may be. Granted, most Americans know that if we moved there to Scotland, it wouldn't be the same after about 5 years, as our nature to industrialize ever dang thing you touch, lol... Most Americans have no clue as to how much we have given up by by the ideas to speed things up, which just means that it allowed for more time to add to the list of crap that we feel we need to get done, and when we get done with that crap, we are even more, lol... Vs... Taking the time to smell the roses, so to speak... My lady turned me on to watching this video, as she got a kick out of it and knew I would as well.... Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I did enjoy hearing about it, the corndog was funny.... Lol... Dru

So I think this is the first time I’ve seen your own channel after seeing you on Diane Jenning’s channel. Love your enthusiasm for what you saw in the US and your accent. I was Archie Beaton in Brigadoon once and did the best I could but we haven’t had many authentic Scottish accents to model from on TV - until now.
The cheddar and ham melt sounds WONDERFUL. Have to get them to come to Chiberia (our pet name for Chicago from November-April (except when it’s suddenly 70° F on Christmas Or New Year’s Day)! It’s a city you should visit come summer because we have all the extremes, heat, cold, rain, snow, sometimes on the same day! Sometimes within the same hour. Commonly said “If you don’t like the weather in Chicago, wait a minute.”
Our food is fantastic too. If you love the melted ham and cheese Sammy’s I would love to see your reaction to genuine Chicago deep dish pizza! Several kinds and our thin crust is the best too.
But the real reason to come here is how amazing the architecture is for a place this new. Partly a result of the Chicago Fire of 1871, most of the architects in the US were drawn here and there are very few neighborhoods made all at once in the same style. You have to see it to understand it. Also, our lakeshore within the city is about 30 miles long and almost entirely open to the public.
    Done with commercial.
Loved this video. Keep making more. There’s a 1950’s song called Tammy which is why we all pronounce it the same up way. I’m sure it’s on TH-cam. I’ll find a link if I think of it.

Specifically Dallas and come in time for the Texas State Fair which starts on September 27th. The weather here won't be so hot, (only about 30 - 33C or so), and you can try a Fletcher's Corny Dog. As well as any of the fried specialties (one year was fried ice cream, another fried butter), and experience one of the tallest ferris wheels in America. In the evening, they have musical acts, and the mid-way is really fun. It lasts 24 days, so you can do a lot around here before it ends. Loved your tee in this vid!

That shirt. Love it. As an American it warms my heart that we have some friends who like us across the pond.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Loved your spunk. My sister and her husband just got back from Scotland and they enjoyed your Country very much!
