    Black charge pipes look like they’re meant to be there, especially considering what you’ve done to the valve/coil covers. I love the subtle look.

    Debating between this kit, or their supercharger. Also PTuning is in the mix. If you had to go back; would have gone with a different kit and/or supercharger?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’d definitely still go turbo if I were going to do it again.
      I love the reliability of this kit and the fitment and install was pretty much perfect so I’d probably still go with this SOS TS max kit if I was going to do it again.
      The only thing I wish it had would be an external waste gate just because they sound awesome haha. So the external gate is a pro for the pruning kit, but i think the harsh vibrations from the solid motor mount on the ptuning kit would ruin the experience for me personally.
      If you want more than like 450-500whp the Ptuning kit has a better manifold for it.

    its weird seeing the turbo oil drain hooks up to the engine oil drain hole. I'm guessing you screw off the turbo drain fitting near the engine oil drain to drain the oil for an oil change?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah you have to unscrew the -8AN fitting to change the oil. I have since had an actual drain bung welded to the pan so I didn’t have to mess with it when changing the oil.

    • @dpgarage4501

      If you’re using the SoS TS max kit, I had to modify the IC brackets to scoot them back a little farther to be able to keep most of the front grill.

  • @WeNeedLights

    Seems like a tight fit with this specific tuebo manifold. Would you go with a forward mounted turbo manifold if you could ?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely a tight fit, but it went in surprisingly easier than I was expecting it to.
      I’m kind of mixed about the forward facing manifolds. Part of me would like to switch to one for the obvious reasons (more power, they look awesome, could run an external wastegate), but there are some real cons to them as well (more likely to crack, heat wrapping everything in the engine bay, generally have to move more things to make it fit).
      If you think you’re going to want more than 450Hp I’d go with a forward facing manifold. If not, the SOS manifold is a great option.

    I’ve been told my SOS turbo kit should be in transit within the next few weeks! Ready to swap out the kraftwerks SC kit. Thanks for the video! Any tips on things you added to this kit to make install easier?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome! It should be a good upgrade from the kraftwerks kit.
      I had 2 issues
      1. Make sure the 45 deg fitting on the turbo drain is facing as close to the compressor housing as possible. Mine was a little too far away and I had to take the whole assembly back out because it hit the motor mount bracket.
      2. I had to move the intercooler brackets farther back in order to keep the front grille/not cut away most of it.
      Everything else went smoothly and the fitment of the kit is great.

      I hear ya lol. I was thinking 10k and ended up being around 12k including the clutch. Some of that was unrelated expenses (clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, powder coated valve cover etc) and some of it was “I’m already spending the money, might as well do it right” lol. Ended up splurging on the SOS AEM infinity with oil/fuel pressure sensors and install kits.

    Did you have any trouble with oil drain back from the turbo tapping in the oil drain plug. Did it smoke because it was having a hard time draining back to oil pan ?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didnt run it this way long enough to notice a difference. I eventually pulled the oil pan and had a bung welded onto the pan.
      It was a pain to change the oil with the turbo drain going where science of speed had it.

  • @karumaman
    @karumaman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. How has the oil return line to the drain plug port been treating you? I tried that on my turbo setup (Not Science of Speed) and had issues with back flow and and eventually welded a bung to the girdle. Anyone else running oil return to the drain plug hole?

    • @dpgarage4501
      @dpgarage4501  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I didn’t run it that way long enough to really test it out. I pulled the pan to do the oil squirter bolts and when I did that I went ahead and had a bung welded on the pan.
      That is how science of speed recommended it be done though so I can only assume they tested it.

    Enjoy it while it lasts before the turbo gets backed up with oil and breaks. Thats the wrong place for the return line... You should also delete the stock water cooled oil cooler and put a proper oil cooler on there instead. That will make much more room for the oil filter.
