Deicide is one of those bands that got a lot of notoriety in the early days because they were shocking and controversial. The music itself was never anything special. I remember getting Legion back in 92 and while it was brutal and fast, the songwriting just didn't grab me. The rest of their albums, including this one, are of the same quality ... just ok. Sometimes it's the personality of the band that sells units. And back then, Glen had that.

Out of all the classic Death Metal acts, Deicide just doesn’t deserve the credit they get IMO. I’m somewhat convinced Benton’s edgy Satanic persona has carried this act to the status they hold.
I’d say they earned their place in DM history. Yes, Glen Benton is a walking factory of cringe, and their latest output has been not great, but their first 3 albums were definitely important and influential.
@@croakinc3670 it’s just my opinion obviously, nothing that I’ve heard from them makes me think of them as a legendary act like most pine them as. They’re like the Anthrax/Megadeth of Death Metal, vastly overrated.
Glenn Benton decide his lyrics gonna still the same since day 1: Blasphemous edgy 12 boy. At best, are hilarious. At worst, are the cringiest thing ever.
7/10 - I liked it, don’t give a fuck. People just can’t enjoy some solid osdm. Also thank you for not getting on a pseudo moral high horse about the AI art cuz god that’s exhausting seeing people pretend to suddenly care about that whole thing. But yea, good grooves, the drumming is very consistent all the way through, I don’t see a problem with the childish lyrics as since lyrics are a backburner element in death metal anyway. Just a solid record in my eyes
what do you mean suddenly pretend care about it? AI "art" as we now know it fairly new thing and has been criticised from the beginning. It's lazy and even the more realistic ones still look weird. The Deicide art looks particularly shitty and uninspired. As a fairly succesful band they should have the budget to have an actual artist do the job.
Umm people do care about ai "art", it isn't art. It's formulated trash. Fun to make, sure, but it isn't human expression. It's just a computer stealing from art and spitting out the results. Enjoy the music sure, but the music is art. Their cover sadly is not, and that detracts from the album-no, the band as a whole.
I don't give a fuck about AI art usually, I just think it makes you look very transparently lazy and unbothered when you use it for album art like this instead of commissioning an actual artist. Also needless to say it looks terrible lol

I absolutely believe the Deicide guys need to take a break, or reinvent themselves by going back to what made them be Death metal Legends.
They won't. They're touring and popping out albums so they don't have to get real jobs
@joemusolf6657
That's also a fair assessment, and in the end, it doesn't matter what any side of the argument thinks, yet the only ones who get butthurted are the so-called 'fans' .
I enjoyed the album for what it is.
Maybe that inverted cross on his forehead has affected the songwriting 😂. Even that AI album cover is lazy.
I have to agree. S/T to Serpents, that's it.
I dig the album. I agree if a no name put this out I prolly wouldn't care as much for it.....
I LITERALLY said DURING my 1st listen to myself, "well THIS is low energy!"😂😂😂It's ok, not BAD not great, NOT REMOTELY like Overtures, this is meh a.f.!!!
stench of redemption was the last one to be good and that because of ralph santolla and jack owen
Calls them daycide ... already invalidated.
impossible-to-offend metalheads hearing how the word deicide is actually pronounced: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Exactly!
The some random online pays you. We don’t watch, you’re in a factory job. And it’s Deer side.
It literally isn't
@@themetalmeltdownofficial been listening to them since day one, think I should know.
@@davidbidwell4091 Then you should know that 'Deicide' is not and has never been pronounced 'Deer side'. Don't lecture me on grammar if you don't know it yourself.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial well tell me,it’s not how you pronounced it. As in Deer cide
@@davidbidwell4091 Except, how I pronounced it IS an accepted pronounciation of the word in the English language. Unlike 'Deer side', which makes you sound like a stupid American. Again, do not lecture me on grammar if you don't know grammar yourself.
I think that this album is alright but not one of Deicide's best. It's better than Overtures of Blasphemy but out of their post-Serpents of the Light output; the Stench of Redemption, To Hell with God, and In the Minds of Evil are far better.
Very whatever album, sounds about as AI generated as its cover
What lol
Dei-Ai-cide.
Honestly this cover ‘art’ disappoints me to no end. How do you go from the Once Upon the Cross artwork to this?
😂🤦
But the lyrics are totally glen's because well let's face it, glen has always been singing about this stuff
Ive tried too give this album a fair go i just dont like the sound i dont know cant put my finger on why i dont like it
Honestly Deicide is just slightly edgier dad rock
This album goes hard af, especially Bury Your Cross With Your Christ
Definitely a step down. Glen is sounding his age
I liked the album, it's exactly what I want from Deicide. The cover seems to be the biggest issue. I don't support AI art, but then again, I'm not listening to the album cover.
You're better off spending your money on the new INTER ARMA, folks
Facts
Its one of their better bad albums. First three albums are all that matter.
Their 1st is their "worst". 2nd, 3rd & 4th are the ones.
Yeah I honestly tried and it's painfully mid. It's not the worst thing out there by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not something worth revisiting after you've listened to it one time.
Dungeon Wolf album at least had a good Christian message. The anti Deicide
I'll DEFINITELY choose this over Dungeon Wolf, no competition lmao
I thought there were a few good songs on this album, but it was mostly filler. 2.5/5 for me.
I wonder if glen really got the Govid-19 arm ticket
This album would be legendary if it didn’t sound like it was made in a computer. This sterile clean modern death metal production sound is ruining the music
Out of all the classic Death Metal acts, Deicide just doesn’t deserve the credit they get IMO. I’m somewhat convinced Benton’s edgy Satanic persona has carried this act to the status they hold.
First 3 albums are classics undeniably
@@anony-moon I don’t agree. Right place, right time, right aesthetic.
I’d say they earned their place in DM history. Yes, Glen Benton is a walking factory of cringe, and their latest output has been not great, but their first 3 albums were definitely important and influential.
@@allforhim2009 Still way better than recent stuff, even if you think it isn't exactly pioneering they had some killer tracks.
I like Deicide but at the same time this album is what I expected from them. More of the same.
I forgot that this band released a new album instead i skipped this album and I listened to the new full of hell album
Smart, that thing goes hard.
That's what i'm sayin'!!!
I don't give a fuck about AI art usually, I just think it makes you look very transparently lazy and unbothered when you use it for album art like this instead of commissioning an actual artist. Also needless to say it looks terrible lol
@@highonsleep4219i use ai art for my band cause it totally fits my music, lazy and weird
Glen has seen your review and he’s not impressed.
boo hoo
Well I've seen Glen's recent music and I'm not impressed
@@croakinc3670 😂
😮
Don't get this little boys hopes up
These critics really have a short capacity of intellect when it comes to Death Metal💯😂🤣
yeah nothing says high intellect quite like a meat and potatoes death metal record with edgy lyrics about Satan and AI art lmao
nerd alert
I can't stop listening. Hope you like ramen, cause I'm takin' that salary!
I hope you do, cause nahh you aint
Deicide? More like dAIcide! Haha! Cause they use AI! Bazinga!
It’s on point
a lil bit off topic... you will review the new Vultures album "Sentinels" that imo is a great record not this garbage of an album of decide
Not a full review but definitely a shout out in the next ALBUMS I MISSED video
@@themetalmeltdownofficial thats great! some how i knew vulture gonna end up in that section
So many sore asses here. Good album. Well produced. Good tracks. Good cover.
Go listen something easier that broadens your horizons, then return to this.
Let's not forget the bottom line here. In the end, Glen's still getting paid😂
I like it alot. 8/10 🤘🇬🇧
Mid AF but I'll say it's better than the album they did before this one. So there's that. 🤷
I loved this album
No need to apologize, to each their own bud.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial thank you you’re always a good sport. ❤️
You have to admit that this album is a lot better than the Six Feet Under's album "Nightmares of the Decomposed" I honestly liked the new album by Deicide " Banished By Sin." I have to admit the A.I. Cover Art SUCKS!!
I mean, yeah, but thats like comparing a McDonalds hamburger to a slab of rotting ground beef placed between two slices of molding bread lmao
DAY ISSIDE
I like this album but obviously its not gonna be good as their early works
Words like “Mid” or “whatever” describe the record very well. Some good parts here and there, but ultimately pretty forgettable.
Loved these guys growing up in the 90s. After Serpents of the Light they kinda lost me. Still haven't listened to this...and frankly I 'm not that curious either haha
i am listening to the new inter arma album and i like it its better than the new deAicide album
I love it.
