How many PS5 exclusives did they really have, and how many were must have console sellers? Not enough. Xbox 360 had the best launch for titles; no one has ever had a better launch since... except for backwards compatible devices.
@@ItsjustBlackJackhere Disagree... Xbox killed themselves at that point starting to ramp up the greed on the way to the tragic xbox 1 launch. They made all multiplayer games paid to play online monthly... which was not mentioned until they forced it on players(ruining launch titles like Shadowrun)... then a bunch of games were cancelled for online support and servers(online only games)... even though they were still selling the games in stores... ie. ChromeHounds etc
Here's the harsh reality. This economy is horrible and inflation is steep this time around. The essential needs have become extremely expensive. The gaming industry isn't immune to this and our purchasing power as a whole has declined. As much as we're all gamers and love to play, it's not a necessity when times are rough and you need a roof over your head, food to eat, and have bills to pay. People are cutting back on things they don't absolutely need because they have to. This on top of not hanging a more enticing exclusive line up and boom, no upgrade.
What You Said I still play and owned my PS4 Pro console due to financial reasons the same time this economy inflation will not leave no time soon until either they cut the price or they will stop making ps4 games that’s when start transitioning to the PlayStation 5 console.
Also PS5 are barely now available in stores when they weren't for the longest time. There's no significant price drop for ps5. Switch and PS4 are still getting modern games. The jump from 4 to 5 isn't really significant. I have zero insensitive to buy an overpriced console when Switch and PS4 are still getting modern releases
@@frogfarmer3551most people do because most people still have ps4 and it’s only natural for them to say current gen because that’s what they have currently and all the ps5 games are also on ps4
my reply to you is referring to all these other commenters in here, but I can’t help myself. I am on PlayStation five, but this man made a valid point on his comment which is lots of people refer to the PS4 as current GEN. Lots of people at least many people I know even though I suggest everybody upgrades to a five anyway.
I can give a couple reasons, 1- the lack of games hurt it. 2- its very expensive still even after 4 years 3-paying for online services 4-pc exists. (Also the 8th gen console is boring, that includes xbox too)
For me back in 2021 it was either a pc or ps5. For 1 I needed a pc (Laptop was experiencing a fatal issue), I already had a ps4 and a pc was more powerful and versatile. The cost of either made it a significant investment not like a cheap £200 ps4 so it was quite the easy choice.

400-500$ is expensive after 4 years? The ps4 was 400$ when it was first released back in 2013. You guys had almost 4 years to save money and wait for the prices to go back to normal after all the scalping. Now all of a sudden 400-500$ is expensive? You and everyone else must really suck at saving money dude
It's easy to see why. Sony doesn't make it an incentive for gamers to switch to PS4. First of all, the games for PS4 online are always on sale. Second, the price of PS5 games are expensive and they are riddled with micro transactions. Third, PS4 has a huge library that many haven't dipped into yet which brings to the fourth reason. It's cheaper to get a PS4 and play PS4 games. PS4 is a well built console. The only reason to get a PS5 is if your PS4 breaks down. That's it really
Load times on ps4 are abysmal they don't even come close to the ps5, can't even imagine playing a game like skyrim on the ps4 where it takes 10 to 20 seconds if not more to fast travel or enter and exit buildings while on the ps5 it's like 2 to 3 seconds max and you can load into the world automatically by using the activity card to skip menus without pressing any extra buttons. Can go from a dragon battle straight into a race in need for speed or a fight in MK in mere seconds
@pieck5460 Load times are a non issue. We've been playing games like that since the 90s bro.'Faster' load times are just a gimmick. The truth is all the great games are still on ps4. 4yrs on not enough exclusives. The current gen sucks
And the best games that are well made kept the load screens to a minimum to ensure we as players stay immersed in the game, its mostly the shitty games that need to brute force their load times with the hardware so it isnt unplayable
PS4 slim owner here: The price still hasn't gone down yet despite the slim revision. We typically see a price reduction after several years + free game bundles but 4 years in, the price only seems to creep up. 😠
@@ShamirQushairi As a Ps4 Slim owner I agree. It's generally cheaper than the base model making it the better option to buy. But with the Ps5 its the total opposite. What the point of calling it a slim if it's still the priced the same or more expensive than the base model? Pathetic
@@unicorntomboy9736It adds context though. The fact that he has a PS4 slim indicates he waited out the OG PS4 to instead buy a slim PS4 which was cheaper. He hasn't gotten a PS5 phat and likely waited for a size and price reduction for the next slim cycle, which didn't happen. Don't criticize without thinking an extra round first. And even then, criticism is rarely necessary, so there's that too.
I’m old enough to remember the exponential leap in graphics from Atari to Nintendo to super Nintendo to Sega to N64 to PlayStation to PlayStation two… When I got my PS five, I literally could not tell the difference in graphics to a PS4. That was, and is still so very very disappointing.
It definitely depends on the games your playing I’d say, not a lot have a ps5 version and if they do it’s usually just for the 60fps Not to mention barely any games are made exclusively for new gen even after so many years. I’m happy with the purchase but I can absolutely see why others would hold off
I'll tell you why for load times imagine waiting 15 to 20 seconds everytime you want to fast travel or enter and exit a building. Ps4 load times are abysmal by comparison, all ps4 games run significantly better on ps5. Only reason people aren't even talking about this is because they haven't experienced how fast the console truly is first hand I can go from a dragon battle in Skyrim straight to a race in need for speed or to a match in Mortal Kombat almost instantly. Graphics and exclusives are the last things I cared about when upgrading
@ballinn0430 I've never had that problem with the console....only a few games that would cause the fan to go into overdive....mw 2019 was one of them I remember but it's usually pretty quiet
@LoverofTruth1 I agree 👍🏻 my ps4 still has a lot of life left in it which is why I haven't felt the need to upgrade to a ps5, plus the ps5 is still very expensive even today, I also have over 200 playstation plus games in my library that I still haven't played yet lol
They never did a good Black Friday deal. I got my 1TB Slim PS4 on Black Friday for $199 with a bonus $50 gift card. Sony being too greedy. Consoles are supposed to be sold at a loss, to increase the install base to sell the games. That's the business model.
The fun part is that PS4 wasn't even being sold at a loss. It was sold at a loss back in 2013ish for 6 months and then Sony would make profit on each console sold.
I forgot about that people have stopped going to black Fridays because of inflation. No joke they would lie and put the same price pretending it was at a lower price or it wouldn't be super low compared to previous black Friday deals
It doesn't have to be the model, that's just the way Sony and Microsoft play it. Nintendo never loses money on the Console, even if it's a failure like the Wii U or Gamecube.
The PS5 is $600.00 in my country and I already have a PS4. As someone who buys one game per year on average, why would I spend that much and then even more on the unique experiences that console offers?
They should've made the PS5 backwards compatible with PS1 to PS4 and also with digital PSP, PS Vita games. That alone would have made everyone move and ditch the old consoles.
PS1 and PS2 have no excuse for not being backwards compatible I get PS3 due to how demanding emulating it is but at the very least I should be able to put a PS3 disc in and then have the game stream to me for free instead of having to purchase PS+ Premium
@@AzaiaMonota It isn't though. My PC can run PS3 games... even my 6 year old laptop can. Sony just doesn't want to add compatibility so that you pay them for PS+ Premium.
@@appleleptiker Yeah, cause... You know, sony definitely gonna earn way more money with selling ps plus for ps3 games, and not making individual sale from each game they can sell
@@appleleptikeralso boosting ps plus sales is not the reason. The real reason is nobody cares about ps3 games. Old and outdated they are, and making risky decision to create emulator for ps3 games that possibly wouldn't be profitable in the long term is a bad business. My take is, it's been 4 years since the PlayStation 5 was announced and the price hasn't decreased at all even with the Slim model and Slim models have always been cheaper than the O.G model by a lot since the PlayStation 1. Not every gamer can afford to get the PlayStation 5 now and some don't even need to get it since there are still good PlayStation 4 games that is coming. I still have my PS4 and I have no desire to get the PlayStation 5 because no ways I would pay R13500/$500 for a nearly 4 year old console that has never had a price decrease.
Agreed. 2-3 years after PS4 release, I was able to snag one up for $299.99. 4 years after PS5 release, still $499.99 ($399.99 for the all digital version). At this point, I don't even think PlayStation/Sony even gives a damn about us. Waited for Black Friday & Cyber Monday for deals to happen, only deals I could find everywhere were Xbox Series S/X deals with them being $25-$50 off of sale price.
Bought my very first PS4 pro and PS3 super slim last week. Unless there is a PS5 pro in the shelves by the time GTA 6 releases, I'm waiting for PS6 altogether.
today i would say the ps4 owners wait for ps6 insteat of ps5 pro, 700 dollars without a disc dive and no stance, and in euros 800 without it, plus disc drive plus stands you must pay 950 euros for the ps5 pro so i say nope they won`t upgrade too ps5 pro and never will.
Exactly. If you look up how many exclusives there are that AREN'T a sequel, prequel, spinoff, remaster or remake to an existing franchise you'll see 5 maybe 6 with Stellar Blade
I don't entirely agree...I didn't play many PS4 games just so that I could play them on better graphics/fps another big motivation was the SSD which gives really short loading times. Which might not be very important for everyone, but makes me very frustrated
There just haven't been many great games in a very long time, I've resorted to busting out my PS3 so I can play ALL the back catalog without repurchasing every little thing in ephemeral digital form simply because they refuse to make the shit load physical media due to their failed anti-piracy measures, that said PS4/5 have been exploited for homebrew already. Why play a 'remaster' when the original was a masterpiece? 'omg graffix lek wow' ...no thanks, I'll keep my $60 to buy 10 more discs I missed out on as a kid.
Thing is all the upcoming games are not coming to last gen, Wolverine, naughty dogs new game, mafia 4, gta 6, Max Payne remake etc…. So yeah people are gonna be complaining here soon because there’s no heavy hitters coming to PS4
@@denist.8058 Yeah we mocked the PS3 for how expensive it was on launch day, but it still offers better value than a PS4 or PS5. At this point in the PS3's life (3-4 years in) it was getting a Slim model and yet another price cut.
@@kingdeedee I'm not a dog, "bro". People mocked it but it came with a hard drive either 20GB or 60GB as standard, the CECHA model had WiFi as standard, both had Blu-ray disc players as standard at a time when a standalone player was more expensive than a PS3, plus full compatibility with every previous generation game from the discs you already owned. Basically all things the Xbox 360 didn't without buying upgrades and (or never got, like Blu-ray), it had from new. People might have disagreed with the price but this still offers more features compared to consoles today - the PS5 can't even play CDs, for example. PS3 was the last PlayStation to be able to do that. There's a reason the original PS3s are still worth a lot used today. Xbox 360 usually had the best cross platform titles though. I'd always use the 360 for stuff like that over the PS3.
@@garydiamondguitarist “dog” isn’t meant to be offensive but no problem if you don’t like it bro Regardless, the PS3 launch was a mess and acting like it was such a great value compared to the PS5 based on a bunch of deprecated features no one cares about anymore is ridiculous. You might as well also bring up the PS3’s CF and memory stick slots while you’re at it seeing as the PS5 also doesn’t have those. There are LOADS of cheap CD players out there if you want one so bad. The blu ray thing is sort of valid, based on the hype around blu ray at the time but that was already the PS2’s biggest party trick and that launched for $299 USD ($544 today). Plus the PS3’s weird cell architecture is one of the biggest reasons PS5 backward compatibility is so up and down in the first place. It severely handicapped the PS3’s market performance back then and it’s still handicapping the PS4 and 5 today. I’m with you on the 360 though, it was definitely the better all around place to play most games, again partly thanks to some games being unavailable/delayed/worse on PS3 due to the cell chip, but also since the 360 laid the groundwork for a modern social gaming network.

Wanted a PS5 when it came out, couldn't get it for like 2 years due to shortages, realised during that time the PS4 still served me well and most games still get released on it, so didn't bother throwing down 500+ bucks after that
Like with the PS4, I was going to wait about 18 months before jumping in to the new gen cycle. But then I saw all those 'fast loading' videos and thought that alone was worth the jump. What I didn't realize is for fast loading to work, a game had to be made with that in mind and be a PS5 version. My PS4 games loaded the same on PS5. They maybe a little faster, but 10 seconds or something off a minute loading isn't that noticeable, really. The only big difference I noticed between the two systems is the UI is fast and I could multitask (like edit a video and upload it while I was still in a game session.

Nice my backlog is around 100 games in PS3 and PS4/PS5(mostly games that have two versions) and I totally agree my PS5 is mostly a quieter system but I have to say transitioning from a PS4 slim to PS5 was an improvement on certain aspects. Right now I'm playing on a PS3 super slim which I got from my cousin for my birthday last February and I'm mostly playing on that rather than the PS5. My yearly Warp up will be fucked because the don't show the PS3 time in it 😅
As an adult, getting a PS5 is worth it for the faster loading alone. You will save a lot more time, especially if you're playing a game where long loading is a punishment for failure (e.g. having to restart a level when going for a perfect run on Crash Bandicoot 4)
1) it's expensive to "upgrade" 2) there hasn't been enough(if any) can't miss PS5 only titles 3) there are lots of great games we still had to catch up with
No need to upgrade when the vast majority of games are available on PS4. GOW Ragnarok. Horizon Forbidden West. The latest CODs and Fifas. Hogwarts Legacy etc
Yeah for real and these new consoles and games do not impress me enough to sacrifice anything. Honestly they should've milked the last Gen. As far as I know ppl weren't even really asking for it.
because the console is still expensive, it hasn't dropped 1 dollar in price, It has increased with 250 dollars here in Norway, from 499 bucks in 2020, and now its 750 bucks for a ps5.
Is that USD? In the USA we are taxed at point of sale so we pay more than $500 for it too. You have VAT which the manufacturer pays and in order to pass the cost to you they raise the price including having to ship it to you.
Swede here, so I suffer from high electronics prices like you do. I happen to visit Germany quite often and a couple of months ago, the PS5 slim disc version was €460 over there which was 5300 SEK back then. Not super cheap, but a lot less than the 7000+ I usually see in Sweden. Maybe you'll get lucky some day in the future. It was a bulky hassle getting through airport security though, but they didn't stop me in any way 😁
@@robertlawrence9000 Sorry to barge in on your conversation, but I thought VAT was always added on top of whatever sales price the stores show, which is why you guys hate taxes. In Europe, all prices are always VAT et cetera included so we aren't surprised at the point of payment. I calculated it with the February exchange rate and I got my PS5 slim for $495 USD, €460 or 5285 SEK. As of today, in Sweden you can buy it for SEK 6850, give or take, which is $645 in today's dollar.
@@Henkibojj That's a reasonable price to me compared to the US. It's about that amount before sales tax. We don't have VAT. We only have sales tax. Depending on where someone lives in the US it varies on the amount. So when the PS5 shows the price of $500, that is before sales tax. At the checkout point or at the cash register, they will add the tax. So final price can be $550 plus or minus depending on the state you live in. I've seen anywhere between 6% sales tax all the way to around 16% sales tax.
@@robertlawrence9000 Thanks for your explanation. Always interesting to learn more. To clarify, that $495 was a one-week only offer, and it's a lot more today ($645 or so).

$300 for a used PS4? Is that US Dollars? Because that's insane. In Germany, used PS4 Slims are sold for like 100-150 euros depending on the how well it's preserved and if controllers and games are included. You could easily get a good looking PS4 without games for 100€ including a controller.

I think people overlook the fact that there haven't been a price drop on neither one of these systems. The Playstation 5 the Xbox Series X are both still $500. The Xbox One and PS4 seen a price drop by this time, even before the pro models came out. The lack of a price drop, along with a vast majority of the games being on both current and last gen is definitely some of the main reasons.
Price isn't really the issue for me. I (stupidly) paid 400 bucks for a BASE PS4 back in early 2020, but l did it because the world was shutting down and l didn't know if I'd even still be alive when the PS5 came out lol So the reason l haven't upgraded is games. What must play PS5 exclusives are there? None that I've seen. Holla at me when GTA6 drops....
Price drop on new, neither Sony nor Microsoft have done yet. However on the used market the prices have gone down lots this year, probably partly because it's such a barren year for releases and no one is excited about it.
The PS3 was such a magical era of gaming for me. At that point in time in 2011 the only consoles I’ve had that were actually mine was the DS lite and the Wii (also had the original DS), I feel like my world has been truly opened up. Me and my sister got an original Xbox for Christmas one year, of course I mainly played it but she played The Sims a lot on it too. I remember going home in the car when I got my PS3, it came with Medal of Honor and Uncharted 2 Among Thieves. Which was my first PlayStation first party game I had played. Still to this day the PS3 is so impressive to me because of its catalogue of games, but also I had pictures and music on it as well. Three GTA games, quite a few Transformer games, and who could forget PlayStation Home? I love the PS4 and PS5, but PS3 has the aura to it. It’s not just nostalgia, it’s just an amazing product. that's why u go PC gaming. multiplayers free. entry fee is higher than console (if paying for good hardware) but life-cycle is as long as you like since all games are compatible as long as your hardware can play it.
I have a PS5 and play both PS5 games and PS4 games on it. I just don't use my PS5 as much as older consoles like the PS2, PS3, and the Xbox 360. The real reasons there are so many people who can afford to upgrade from PS4 to the PS5 but are refusing to do so is because the PS5 has a very miniscule library of exclusives just for that particular console and the fact most of the popular titles only for PlayStation also have a PS4 version and/or ports to the PC does nothing but convince many PlayStation users who still have their PS4 and still won't upgrade consoles that upgrading from the PS4 to the PS5 is a pointless waste of money.
PS5 doesn't have the kind of exclusives to justify a $500 console and $70 games in this economy, raising PS+ prices is just driving more online gamers to PC as can clearly be seen with Helldivers II for example, and supply issues from the pandemic have basically killed its sales momentum. Obviously Microsoft's not doing much better either this whole console generation is struggling and it's not hard to see why. This might be the weakest console lineup we've had since the days of the Atari 5200. If GTAVI somehow ends-up being disappointing or subpar in some way to the point that it impacts sales (unlikely but not outside the realm of possibility given Rockstar's increasing cynicism, greed, and hostile, antagonistic attitude towards fans) then it'll be safe to say at that point that this entire generation is a failure and the next one will need to be a drastic pivot towards what consumers actually want instead of this dystopian Hellscape of live service penny-pinching, stick-drifting, and digital-only anti-preservation.
@@ValMeri417 Just barely. It finally started getting some worthwhile exclusives by around 2017 but many of its issues were tolerated simply because Xbox wasn't a good alternative and the economy was stronger at the time. Games and hardware also weren't as expensive.

Here in Brazil, the PS5 is still considerably expensive and unfortunately there was no price cut like the PS4 after the launch of the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, many people (including my brother) are on the PS4 and do not intend to migrate to a new console right now. In more developed countries, I think there are some other reasons that contribute to this, such as the pandemic that left several people (and countries) in complicated situations, mainly financial, we still don't have many "next-gen only" games that prove to be "mind blowing" and honestly, apart from just 3 exceptions, the "next-gen only" games that I've seen so far don't seem that impressive to me to the point of wanting a new console just for that.
Let's not forget that it was Sony that raised the price of the PS5 and then "reduced" the price of the console only slightly below the msrp and calling it a major Holiday sale.
Did ...you know... you can play PS4 games? Hmm?? Yeah, it works. Some even work better than the base PS4 game. For example, Final Fantasy VII Remake has an upgrade path from PS4 to PS5. I was surprised at how well it worked.

@@victory7763 this "argument" is a funny cope. Funny PS4 runs just fine as a matter of fact PS3 runs just fine. And there's games fun games. Yeah PS5 may be superior with frame rates and graphics but how far is that going to get you without engaging fun games?????
What people don't seem to account for is the fact that while it may have a similar install base to the PS4 of a similar time period, by the same time through a cycle the PS4's price had decreased. Whereas the PS5's has not decreased by much if at all. That will definitely play a huge part in what will happen from here. Not to mention that a lot of people felt like Sony would continue their trend of releasing high quality games like they did during the PS4 era but have been burned by the lack of effort so they're more hesitant to jump ship on something that just frankly isn't worth the price.
My personal reason is there's not enough exclusive games I'm interested in, & the rest is multiplatform I can purchase elsewhere. I miss the days of Jak & Daxter & The Older God of War & Ratchet & Clank /Uncharted. That & the console is expensive & I patiently wait on game price drops & sales, their not getting $70 out of me lol A good chance alot of the multiplatform game's will come to Nintendo Switch 2. I'll just wait & buy that instead.😎 I'm still rocking my PS4 Pro & older consoles.
One of the reasons is that Sony fell for the Xbox strategy and made most of its exclusives multi-platform to PC. On PC you can now have Xbox games, PC games and now some PS games. So what's the point in holding a PS5?
Some people on the other hand are saying whats the point of having an Xbox. Four of their exclusives went to PS5, nintendo and pc. It's rumored halo, gears and starfield may be going. Nintendo isn't going to put LOZ on Series X in return, Sony is not going to put Horizon or any of their excĺusives on Series X in return.
I hated when they did it they made the layout worse and it wasn't as smooth plus you couldn't scroll as far to look at avatars before getting kicked out
This generation has been lame, higher price games and service. Very few exclusive I actually enjoy. Too many gaas garbage. Everything tries to nickel and dime you. I had ps5 during lanuch. Last year spiderman, this year Stella. Other than that gamepass on Xbox and pc.
That’s a damn lie lol you people come up with the most dumb takes, ps4 didn’t have allot exclusives till around 2015-2016 it’s been this way every gen. Around 4 years in is when the heavy hitters start rolling out, then you had the pandemic that slowed development down too. 2025 is gonna be a big year and all these upcoming games aren’t coming to PS4
The PS5 wasn’t even widely available until late 2022, and when it was there weren’t really any PS5 exclusive games. Most games that came out were also on PS4-but most importantly the upgrade is simply quality of life. Games look a little better and load significantly faster but that’s it. The era of big leaps is over, and people just don’t have as much money. Which is the reason why Sony would simply be wasting their time having the PS6 release. I’m telling you now, I will not be getting the PS6 regardless of what exclusives are on it. If they’re sticking to this 7 year window despite games taking 3 times as long to release then I’m simply skipping the next console.
PS6 Pro would be the definitive next-gen console. PS6 would just be the lite version as our PS5 would be compared to PS5 Pro which should've been THE PS5.
I'm one of those who are still playing PS4. To me it's hard to find a reason to upgrade as I mainly play JRPGs, and pretty much all of them are available on PS4, even the latest titles like Trails of Daybreak or Metaphor Refantazio. I'll definitely get a PS5 when developers like Falcom or Gust have completely moved on to the current generation console. Until then, I'm fine with the PS4.
Having depression, anxiety and/or mental health issues. Thus mainting a stable job tends to be mentally taxing and because of such instances, buying luxury items like a PS5 is not in the realm of priorities when bills/other responsiblies also have to be maintained. And because of that, we are stuck on PS4. Not everyone is in this type of situation or is better of and kudos to them. Happy that they are able to maintain themselves like that. Or it's another reason entirely. I'm sure there are other people in this situation and I genuinely hope it all gets better. Time will tell.
The biggest reason is the wide range and variety of games with a huge library of PS4 videogames that players and gamers prefer to play it on old gen as well as because of the price and total cost of the PS5 still relatively high even though it decreased in price with all the bundles. Many enjoy all the PS4 exclusives especially to play it on their PS4 console and experience it on the old school system is also a passion to play.
Not a huge mystery, base PS4 was $299 at this point, PS5 has gone up in price as well as the cost of living. Dropping the price will increase sales dramatically I believe
1. theres still many games that sales on both ps4 and ps5, thats makes casual gamer feels that they still don't need a ps5. 2. many their main gamers right now on working age, so after they go back home. it's become too tired just to turn on the tv and the console. this is the reason why nintendo switch, steam deck and rog ally, etc become popular. the convience to play in the train, taxi, bus and in your bed without need internet connection is crucial.
I still play my PS3 daily. A bonus with my model of PS3, I can play games from PS1-PS2-PS3. Sure I have a PS4 and a PS5. I care not for any game made in the present day. I prefer discovering games from the past I couldn't play as a lass
⚠️ Personal opinions incoming ⚠️ Sorry, these new consoles are not next gen in any way at all… for example, we’re still paying for online play, Xbox controllers need new batteries, new consoles claim to be “8k” but I’ve yet to see it with any game, they’re still making games for ps4 / Xbox one, despite being several years in this gen.. in short, buying this gen’s consoles is a big money grab and a waste of money to begin with.. I’ve fallen victim to buying the ps5… it’s been sitting there beside my ps4 pro, and I haven’t played it in like, 2 years… both consoles are literally the same exact thing..
PS4s are solidly made, hardly break, games are cheaper and forward compatible, some games even have cross gen multiplayer, there's almost no reason to upgrade apart from graphics and like 5 exclusive games. I got a PS5 a year ago and still play PS3 and PC more due to a giant backlog and free online play
“What You Said” I still playing my PS4 Pro console due to financial reasons the same this economy inflation will not leave no time sooner until either they cut the price or they will stop making ps4 games I’ll will transition to the PlayStation 5 console
The cost, bro. We're either having a rough time in our lives to where we are putting financial responsibilities first and paying down debts and getting rent paid before we can actually save up and buy a PS5. I sold my PS4 to help pay down one of my credit cards and now I'm gaming on an Xbox Series S, PC and PS3 and Nintendo Switch
@@luismaldonado4989 maybe but wouldn’t be as good of a game as it is on the ps5 I use to say the same thing until I upgraded and believe me there is truly a difference
During the time of ps5 running 700 dollars, i had decided to just get a ps4 pro and plenty of games with it. My backlog is long. My ps4 pro will keep me busy for a long time until it decides to die, and even then i can just bust out the PS4 Slim.
I still play PS3/4 and vita, could imagine a good population of PS4 players may just hold out for PS6, presumably it will be back compat for ps4 and 5 so be the worthwhile option
thats my line of thinking but honestly the only way i would get a PS5 is if my PS4 dies or disc drive stop working. and if PS6 is digital only then PS6 is a hard pass i'll go PC if i want digital for my games. at least i get a wide variey of deals and many more games thats on PC consoles do not get.
@@NewjerseyFan I think it would be foolish to go disc only for PS6 still plenty of players playing PS5/4 discs. I'm a committed physical media fan so if PS6 was digital only I wouldn't go near it until I've cleared my backlog...and by then I might be too old to game :D
If the PS5 was such a little improvement to the PS4, what makes you think anyone will bother buying a PS6? It will be the same thing just with tweaked performance and hardware… at that point, most people would just stay on PS5 or get a PC… Trust me, we are gonna be on PS5 for the next 8-10 years, there is nothing else to upgrade, games have beautiful graphics now and have been running very smoothly on PS5 to the point where if you want a dramatic change, you won’t see it happen on PS6, people would rather just buy a PC for that dramatic change in performance and graphics…
I love my ps2 and ps3 ps2 has the real mortal kombat games evil dead resurrection TMNT and ps3 has a loooooooooooooooooot of gems that aren’t going to see the light of day on ps5 we were told that we could play ps2 and ps3 and ps4 games on the ps5 bullshit lol
the shortages destroyed FOMO and cemented the fact people could just get the same games on older platforms. That it went on for an extended period I think is a large part of it. Many people, me included also refuse to pay $70 for a new game because you do not receive the game for that price, only the entry to the game.
im one of them. still gaming on my launch model ps4. i still dont feel pressured to upgrade especially when i dont buy games at launch anymore and not to mention a majority of the big titles are on ps4 as well.
You'r just gonna play the same games you already play with better performance. I'd suggest you getting a PC if you actually want a PS5 Pro. You can play games from all eras and emulate up to PS3, WiiU and Switch. And play the same games that are being released on PS5 since they're all already on PC too and CHEAPER. I own a PS5 and a Series X, and I feel like empty inside this generation. I couldn't care less about any kind of pro models of any console. Companies can't afford exclusivity in their AAA games nowadays, so, why limiting yourself with a console? You even have better and cheaper VR if you're interested on it.
@DJordydj No sorry I am very invested in playstation with physical games and other things. At this point it would make no sense switching to a other system ignoring what I already have on playstation. Also I waited so long for the Pro. Now quitting would not be very smart as it will be release later this year.
Unlock the full backwards compatibility, allow keyboard and mouse, lower the PSN price, make cool games for PS VR and you are 20 mil+ for one year and 15 mil more for GTA VI
As someone who’s still on PS4 and was initially dying to get my hands on a PS5, I eventually just gave up after the low stock and I went through a period of not playing games for a long time. Not sure wether I was still interested or not, I tried to do other things. I’m back playing games again and even though there’s some games I want to play on PS5, there just isn’t enough for me to go buy one right now. Wether that be the lack of interest in general or just treating gaming as a casual hobby from now? I don’t know. I see a lot of people make a huge deal out of the performance and go as far as making someone feel awful for still being on last gen… which is uncalled for, you can make your point without the hostility. As for ME, I do notice the difference in load times and better frame rate but the moment I boot up a game, I don’t think of any of that. It doesn’t even come to my mind, so it’s not a huge incentive for me to upgrade. I just enjoy my time playing and that’s that.
I definitely think less of the people who ran out to get a ps5 day one. I respect people playing older consoles and older games way more. Keep doing what you're doing dude and good on you for not being a braindead consumer.
Yeh i want to play FFVII: Rebirth but the game itself is expensive on top of the price of a new console. It would be fine if there were other games but there are none. After this long it doesn't look bright. There is talk of ps5 pro but this is madness. It has easily been the most pointless generation. No games except 2-3 exclusives and then a bunch of remakes or games also released on Ps4. It feels like the Ps5 hasn't even got going yet so it just isn't worth the money. Nintendo have been the smartest by realising that just increasing console power every few years is not enough and is actually a dead end because games become so expensive to make it stifles creativity and prevents risk. Developers need to focus on the games and not tech demos.
I felt scammed buying a PS5. I waited until this year cause it was so difficult to get one. But during that time I moved to PC. Got the PS5 and realized there’s no games. Only ones that I really cared about are GT7 Spiderman 2 and GOW Ragnarok. Everything else I could get on gamepass or steam. Spending 500$ for 3 games doesn’t sit right with me. I’m probably gonna sell it. This gen of consoles is awful.
With the same amount of money I could buy a single PS5 with no games or subscriptions I bought: a used Series S, a Dev mod account for emulation, COD Cold War, Metro Trilogy with every dlc, Subnautica, Elden Ring with Shadow of the Erdtree and I would still have around 200$ of the 450/500$ needed for a PS5 (I wait for sales). I've always preferred Playstation over Xbox and I've been playing videogames since the PS1 days but I realize I no longer am part of their target audience. Every IP I loved from Sony vanished over time in favour of the samey 3rd person story driven action movies with 4k pixels 120whocares and esg interpolation that I'm sick and tired of. The only PS5 game I'm interested in is Ratchet and Clank, but it is also on Steam so I see absolutely no reason to buy the console.
Yeah I was a die hard PlayStation player but once covid and PS5 came out and nobody could buy one and still no games are available on PS5 and PC can run games at double the fps so why not just suck it up and switch
Cost of living is going up, wages are stagnating so people don’t have disposable income to spend on a game console when they’re more worried about whether or not they can pay rent or not.
I bought my PS4 and unexpectedly a couple months after that they Released a PS4 Pro I was so angry about that, I said to myself when the PS5 is going to release, I wait for the PS5 Pro. That won't happen to me again 😂. But I am struggling to get a 4070 Gaming PC instead 😭.
1 - it's super expensive for the difference worth 2 - basically no games and not worth it 3 - i'm still living the ps4 era and not ready to move on and still excited about new ps4 games 4 - the games are ridiculously fucking expensive bro it's just too.much.money.
A TH-camr said the same thing and broke it down. I agree. This console generation is very boring. The AAA games aren't enticing to buy. It's the same experience that was on PS4.
@@Retro_Gamer_89 I've heard that. I'd like to look into that more. I do applaud Microsoft's backwards compatibility with their latest consoles as well. If sony hadn't made the ps5 backwards compatible with the PS4 i think way less people would have bought the ps5.
PS4 had this feeling I experienced that the PS5 doesn’t. I also experienced it with the PS3. To be honest I don’t know how to explain it and what I mean by “experience”
There is definitely a sense between the prior PS generations that games "leveled up". I think back to Uncharted 2 and that was a visual marvel compared to the PS2 games I had at the time. Moving from PS3 to PS4, Batman Arkham Knight was that game that made me go "wow" and Uncharted 4 still looks amazing today. The PS5 games look good and some do show off (Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is one such game), but there doesn't seem to be that much appeal for the console specifically when many PS5 games are either cross platform or have a PS4 version which doesn't compromise that much to play the same game. If I can play a PS5 game on the PS4 with little trouble and the PS5 game doesn't look like it's on a whole new level with graphics, then what am I really paying for with a PS5? The sense of evolution is lacking.
Reason 1: my favourite online games are still being supported and will likely stay that way for more years Reason 2: my gaming laptop offers better value in the long run.
So you only play 1st party games? So when games like Stellar Blade Rise of Ronin, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth come out, you pretend there aren't any games to play? Also, if PlayStation was to buy Arrowhead tomorrow, would you SUDDENLY have another game to play because the parent company owns them? You don't make ANY sense. All you're doing is hurting yourself when you create strange goalposts for yourself.
I was late to ps4. Made the mistake of buying a xbox one and there are so many amazing exclusives on ps4 and I simply dont have the time like I used to for gaming
as a PS4 owner of 500+ games, who did'nt get a PS5, simply put , it just did'nt appeal, the games have been 2 far and between , the storage situtation was a big turn off, i.e rather have NVME on PC , Storage is an expensive issue for PS5 , and what 3/4 years down the line and the PS5 is simply not cutting it. this Gen has been Sony's worse, yet 2 many fanboi's in denial about that
I got the PS5 because load times and frame rates are important to me, and playing all my ps4 games at those speeds are nice. I find myself playing mostly ps4 games on my ps5 though.
No new games by first party studios and also the price (lowkey i'm cheap) is preventing me from buying one. I'm content with a PS4 for the time being (unless when GTA6 comes out)
GTA 6 is already turning into a disappointment, I'm not okay waiting until this game comes out.. just pissed off and tired of it, kinda got out of games period after the horrible GTA 5 game, and the long wait for GTA 6 haven't spent my money on shxt since GTA 5 and I was so disappointed that I'm not doing it again.
Still feel like we're living in the PS4 era.
How many PS5 exclusives did they really have, and how many were must have console sellers? Not enough. Xbox 360 had the best launch for titles; no one has ever had a better launch since... except for backwards compatible devices.

This rlly should be the top comment bc this is the reality.
This is why I went with Xbox this time around.
Game Pass is a financial life saver for gamers.
It’s as if working harder doesn’t actually leads to a better life anymore.

My Original PS4 is still going strong since 2015!!!
Yep Sony is making a profit on the PS5 hardware. I remember the PS4 slim 500gb w/ Spider-Man for $299 sold gangbusters
Dude if you make a product charge whatever you want
The PS5 is $600.00 in my country and I already have a PS4. As someone who buys one game per year on average, why would I spend that much and then even more on the unique experiences that console offers?
Do you buy one because you're also picky about your games?
They should've made the PS5 backwards compatible with PS1 to PS4 and also with digital PSP, PS Vita games. That alone would have made everyone move and ditch the old consoles.

100% agreed lmao ps5 is like twice my rent
And if you were to buy that's when they'll drop the cheaper version.
That's true here. There is no rush to upgrade here and the console has not seen reduction here for its slim models here
Agreed. 2-3 years after PS4 release, I was able to snag one up for $299.99. 4 years after PS5 release, still $499.99 ($399.99 for the all digital version). At this point, I don't even think PlayStation/Sony even gives a damn about us. Exclusives. If there’s not enough exclusive games to play on the console, there’s no need to buy it, no matter how good the fps and visuals look.

@@denist.8058 Yeah we mocked the PS3 for how expensive it was on launch day, but it still offers better value than a PS4 or PS5. At this point in the PS3's life (3-4 years in) it was getting a Slim model and yet another price cut.
@@garydiamondguitarist dog the PS3 absolutely deserved to be mocked for that crazy launch price. $500 USD in 2006 is fkin $800 today
@@garydiamondguitarist “dog” isn’t meant to be offensive but no problem if you don’t like it bro
Regardless, the PS3 launch was a mess and acting like it was such a great value compared to the PS5 based on a bunch of deprecated features no one cares about anymore is ridiculous.

The only big difference I noticed between the two systems is the UI is fast and I could multitask (like edit a video and upload it while I was still in a game session.

because the console is still expensive, it hasn't dropped 1 dollar in price, It has increased with 250 dollars here in Norway, from 499 bucks in 2020, and now its 750 bucks for a ps5.

Too many games to play still on PS4
Too many bro ! this is why ive been buying physical copies of games since 2014
PS5 doesn't have the kind of exclusives to justify a $500 console and $70 games in this economy, raising PS+ prices is just driving more online gamers to PC as can clearly be seen with Helldivers II for example, and supply issues from the pandemic have basically killed its sales momentum.

One of the reasons is that Sony fell for the Xbox strategy and made most of its exclusives multi-platform to PC. On PC you can now have Xbox games, PC games and now some PS games. So what's the point in holding a PS5?
@@KepleroGT I know right? lol Times we live in 🙌🏻
So true
@@coreywilson7326 Yes 🤝🏻😁
Some people on the other hand are saying whats the point of having an Xbox. Four of their exclusives went to PS5, nintendo and pc. It's rumored halo, gears and starfield may be going. Nintendo isn't going to put LOZ on Series X in return, Sony is not going to put Horizon or any of their excĺusives on Series X in return.
The 2012 PSN shop update was the worst update the PS3 ever got. I wish they could roll it back :(
Yh it barely runs
Trying to go through your download list is terrible.
I hated when they did it they made the layout worse and it wasn't as smooth plus you couldn't scroll as far to look at avatars before getting kicked out
PS4 is the last golden Sony era.. if people think PS5 is bad PS6 gen will be even worse for games
This generation has been lame, higher price games and service. Very few exclusive I actually enjoy. Too many gaas garbage. Everything tries to nickel and dime you. I had ps5 during lanuch. Last year spiderman, this year Stella. Other than that gamepass on Xbox and pc.

that being said i know i will not be paying 100 200 for the delux editions of games with just some digital gifts.
Sit down
Really sorry, I hope you can get through this. Having a new console is definitely not a priority, mental health is.
@@jeanolttno it sounds like this person really could use a ps5
The biggest reason is the wide range and variety of games with a huge library of PS4 videogames that players and gamers prefer to play it on old gen as well as because of the price and total cost of the PS5 still relatively high even though it decreased in price with all the bundles. Many enjoy all the PS4 exclusives especially to play it on their PS4 console and experience it on the old school system is also a passion to play.
Cause we can’t afford one

Definitely due to how mediocre it is compared to previous console generations. All that “power” with barely any games utilizing it.
But that's not the CONSOLES fault, it's the DEVELOPERS making the games....
@@PhillipLemmonAre you sure? There's a lot of people overjoyed about a PS5 "Pro" model.
They have 660 games

The fact PS3 has/had a million users warms my heart 🤗
I want the pro version and I also have enough backlog games till then. Still playing mostly ps3 and ps4.
Same. Been waiting on the pro
@@FranceUnderwood I understand. Maybe PS6 could be the perfect moment then.
I just enjoy my time playing and that’s that.
you’re 100% right michael.
Well said my friend
I would jailbreak it, then sell it for triple the price.
Many are on PC now (PS4 users)
Yeah I was a die hard PlayStation player but once covid and PS5 came out and nobody could buy one and still no games are available on PS5 and PC can run games at double the fps so why not just suck it up and switch

A TH-camr said the same thing and broke it down. I agree. This console generation is very boring. The AAA games aren't enticing to buy. It's the same experience that was on PS4.

If sony hadn't made the ps5 backwards compatible with the PS4 i think way less people would have bought the ps5.
check the Sony PS4 games in the same life-span and say it again
Reason 1: my favourite online games are still being supported and will likely stay that way for more years
Reason 2: my gaming laptop offers better value in the long run.
I think this’ll change drastically once gta 6 drops
If MLiD is right, and Sony are planning a portable PS4, the platform could be relevant long after the PS5 is finished.
