Having to wait till my brother finishes using the PS5 for me to play on the Portal downstairs was such a hassle. Wonder if there will be any Black Friday deals on the Portal, now is the best time to get one if anyone was waiting.

Portal is now officially a standalone handheld gaming console.
I tried it in my house, I have impeccable wifi so either way it came out pretty good. I'll give it a 7 out of 10 (10 being the best). The ultimate test is testing it in a public setting (Starbucks, Deli, etc). I have not tried it so I cannot give my opinion when it comes to public wifi but will test soon. Anyway, in my house it's golden! Not bad at all for a beta 👌🏽 All Sony has to do is master this cloud thing, and they'll have it in the bag! I like the fact you still NEED a Playstation product to access PS Plus bc not everything is a PS5....
@yomamasohot6411 with all due respect, idc about pc nor do I own one or want one for gaming. I'm a gamer, not a pc tinkerer. there's a huge difference.
Since you can only stream ps5 games this shouldn't be locked behind the premium, you should only need the essential subscription. If they change that in the future I will get my hands on one
@@bigmac375 Being able to add PS Portal ONLY Cloud streaming to the essential subscription woud be nice too. If they make it more accessible the ps portal will become more like a handheld than rather a ps5 accessory
Even when connected from my bedroom the portal connection is not as good with a lot of lag when streaming from PlayStation. Is it due to my ps5 be connected by WiFi ?
Yes you need to do the BBC in the sky like a broadcast tower when playing with the portal for better reception. It is also best not to cover up the BBC, as this will result in poorer reception on the portal.
How did the Portal ever sell a single unit is unbelievable. All kinds of handhelds that offered much more were already available and of course the awesome chiaki that's a light year difference in functionality.
I think there is a good reason why the latency is heightened. It makes sense that there will be more traffic between the data centers that are rendering your game and your portal than your PS5 and your portal.
Its crazy because from my experience, Using PS now, Xcloud and stadia, Stadia was the best latency wise. Also was the best place to play cyberpunk on launch. Second was Xcloud via my phone or laptop, then last was PS now on my PS5
Why is everyone hyped? This is still so bad🤣 i rather put my ps5 in standby mode instead of paying the double for that each year. The worst thing is that it still has latency issues
@PaulDowneyMusic In theory, yes. It's currently still in beta and you do need to manually opt-in to it though as shown in the video, but from the look of things it seems like all you would need is a PSN account with PlayStation Plus Premium, a PlayStation Portal, a strong internet connection, and voila! You're playing PS5 games
Of course it's just PS premium streaming that should've been there from the start, and not your entire digital library streaming if you are subbed to essential. Yeah, no thanks.

I find the timing of this particularly strange. Because Microsoft just announced streaming games you own. I guess it's a holiday season competition.
I don't think Sony particularly cares about what MS does. They certainly care about getting it out before the holiday season
I don't like current Sony but this actually makes this device worth it now. If they put stellar blade in the library before the PC release, I'll buy one.
Portal is now officially a standalone handheld gaming console.
Already such an overlooked and underrated device. Now its actually best in class.
Glad I got the PS portal on release
Now all the haters are gonna be buying from scalpers haha
I knew this feature was coming. Glad to see it in beta.
Pretty sure cloud streaming works on a PC(PS+ Premium)
@yomamasohot6411 with all due respect, idc about pc nor do I own one or want one for gaming. I'm a gamer, not a pc tinkerer. there's a huge difference.
Crazy this is so gooood in only the beta version 😮
Since you can only stream ps5 games this shouldn't be locked behind the premium, you should only need the essential subscription. If they change that in the future I will get my hands on one
That doesn't make any sense.
Just get premium.
I think you point out a good problem: there needs to be a streaming only tier that is cheaper
This should've been a day 1 feature tbh...
Better late than never also its still a work in progress
I've already tested.
That's better than my expectations🎉
Nice
How did the Portal ever sell a single unit is unbelievable.
All kinds of handhelds that offered much more were already available and of course the awesome chiaki that's a light year difference in functionality.
Ahh a subscription no thanks
I think there is a good reason why the latency is heightened. It makes sense that there will be more traffic between the data centers that are rendering your game and your portal than your PS5 and your portal.
...as Stadia cries 😅
Its crazy because from my experience, Using PS now, Xcloud and stadia, Stadia was the best latency wise. Also was the best place to play cyberpunk on launch. Second was Xcloud via my phone or laptop, then last was PS now on my PS5
Cloud streaming is not available in my country. Is there a way to access it?
Why is everyone hyped? This is still so bad🤣 i rather put my ps5 in standby mode instead of paying the double for that each year. The worst thing is that it still has latency issues
Will we get a more in-depth testing video on the cloud streaming and how it looks and works later??
I personally hate cloud streaming and I think that it shouldn't even exist
Same here man, hopefully it isn’t the future
Dayum, a very strong opinion
That seems a bit harsh?
Also single player games that require to be always online. Shouldn't exist
@@CraigSteelyardsteam legalized always online and destroyed physical media, steam should never exist
It is cool to see streaming on the PlayStation Portal without having to be tethered to a PS5, I think that that'll help out the PS Portal immensely
Does this mean that I, someone who doesn't own a PS5 yet, can just buy this and purchase a membership to the streaming service?
@PaulDowneyMusic In theory, yes. It's currently still in beta and you do need to manually opt-in to it though as shown in the video, but from the look of things it seems like all you would need is a PSN account with PlayStation Plus Premium, a PlayStation Portal, a strong internet connection, and voila! You're playing PS5 games
We done with PlayStation
Portal is looking better and better... So tempted
Of course it's just PS premium streaming that should've been there from the start, and not your entire digital library streaming if you are subbed to essential. Yeah, no thanks.
will they release every game (like all of them) to play on cloud streaming in the future?
Mystic up at 4am playing games, that can't be healthy
ABOUT TIME!!!! HALLELUYERRR!!!
Now We Need PS VR2 Cloud Streaming Too. That's will make your gadget sale more than must buy the main console Ps5
Changes everything. I’ll buy one now
This might be a dumb question, but do trophies still pop when you are cloud streaming?
Of course
I wish I had been paying attention and knew this update was coming. I just traded my Portal in with my base PS5 to cut down the cost of my Pro. Honestly, I was never really impressed by it but now that it can be used untethered it probably would have been worth keeping around.
