Dixie, just discovered your channel. I'm a 71 yr old grannie who can't even go for a walk due to osteoarthritis. The kicker is I live right here in Colorado and can only drive to see these sights. Keep up that hiking, girl, because I can see much more of the beauty of these mountains thru your eyes in your videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences! Look forward to the next video!! : )

I like that you don't over-saturate your videos with talking or music. Your commentary is just enough to punctuate the experience. The way you present your content just makes me feel like I'm just along for the hike experiencing it with you. The pacing, shot choice, letting the scenery, and natural sound "sit" with the viewer, all combine to make it so peaceful and enjoyable. Thanks again for bringing us along and taking the effort to make your content so inviting.

I like hiking alone because everyone I go with just wants to get to the destination as quick as possible and get back home. I like to take my time and enjoy the journey to the destination.

That would be my issue too! I like to take my time unless there is a reason to hurry. I mean hiking (for me) is for relaxing and seeing what’s out there!

This is, I think, the most visually stunning video you've created thus far. The quality of the equipment, camera angles, subject matter, etc are top notch. And of course huge shout out to Aaron's outstanding editing skills- I especially loved the tent setup sequence and starry night 💕 but of course the real star of the show was the coyote encounter- moved me to tears. What an incredible experience! This is why I hike solo as well. Thank you thank you thank you for taking us along with you. I hope you know how much it means to so many of us 💕

After watching this video, I am reminded of the poem "High Flight".
"Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
Dixie, may God always be with you on your travels and protect you.

    Awesome video!
After years of suffering from migraines I was finally able to find some long term relief. I was living in Arizona at the time and I discovered desert hiking. It was so amazing. After all that suffering I felt like discovered the outdoors again. I just wanted to hike all the time. My wife would be grudgingly go with me. At the recommendation of a friend I convinced her to do a “day hike” to Flagstaff….Humphries Peak. I had no idea….our little day hike turned into a 12 hour mountain climb. We were totally not prepared. A light jacket, tennis shoes, no hat, no gloves or rain gear. We each had a small container of water and some beef jerky. Once we got over the tree line I kept pushing her to keep going despite a very cold wind that would literally blow us over. False peak after false peak. Scrambling up the side we finally made to the top at 12,600ft. It was freaking awesome! Once to the top we realized we were only halfway done. It was a long hike back. We’re divorced now and don’t think she ever forgave me for that day! I would totally do that again. My guess she won’t go near a hike ever again!

@@ShelbyWalkerAdams Honestly, sometimes I do. But, I’ve been camping alone for a long while now. Bad things can happen anywhere anytime. I think of it this way, yes…A human can choose to do something to me that can make a huge impact on me. That’s their choice. Not mine. I’m choosing to live my life regardless of others choices. I do take safety precautions: situational awareness, not announcing that I’m alone, knife, and pepper spray. I trust my gut. You can also carabiner your tent closed at night. For me personally, I prefer to to alone in the deep wilderness over any sort of noisy party. My last camping adventure was in the Teton backcountry. The people camping around me were of my same mindset and attitude. I was left alone at camp, but met the friendliest people on trail. Try it out and have an adventure! What choice do YOU want to make?

Oh wow. I’m only 2min in and those minutes have summed why I love to hike and camp alone. My mum used to call me “unsociable and selfish” but I don’t see it that way. I work all day with people so for me the trails are somewhere I can just be with my own company and thoughts and mentally it is so good, although for the past year I’ve been dealing with some emotional issues and some days being on my own with my mind are better than others.

The sequence starting at 1:45 is a great example of nectar robbing! This is a behaviour where a bee will drink nectar from a flower through a hole bitten into the base of the flower, rather than entering through the flower's actual opening. So the bee gets nectar, but doesn't get coated in the flower's pollen - it's interesting because that bee is not facilitating pollination, as we expect all bees to do, because it is avoiding getting coated in pollen!! Really awesome observation!!

I love your photography, especially the closeups of flora and fauna. The time lapse of the early morning sky was stunning. The sequence of your putting up your tent was downright spooky and reminds me of how ephemeral life is. The coyote was so real! Thank you for sharing these visual and auditory wonders with us. May your trails be ever more beautiful and satisfying.

You did one of my favorite loops! I just did a run out there this past weekend, though we do it in the opposite direction that you did. I nearly cried watching this because you captured the beauty of this area so well. I'm SHOCKED you didn't see any moose. And I have NEVER seen a coyote in the high country. Thank you for showing the gorgeous scenery of the Indian Peaks Wilderness. ❤

I saw a coyote in the San Juan Mountains while hiking over the Continental Divide. My buddy and I got hit by a surprise thunderstorm and were hunkered down, but we knew the storm danger had passed when a coyote popped up about 50 yards from us and loped over the Divide.

One of your best videos ever. There is some really beautiful footage in this one. I know the exact area you were in. I'm headed to Estes Park and RMNP in 3 weeks, and I'm so pumped! I have absolutely got to find some snow to step foot in. I love snow! This Missouri heat and humidity has GOT to go!

Wow, great camera work & editing. I watched everyone of your videos when you first hiked the AT & enjoyed them all. I got away from watching TH-cam videos and have just started back watching them again. Your videography is really really good. Very professional, Dixie. You’ve come a long way since that first day on the AT. I’m proud of you! Great job!!

Well that was a wonderful video I got so into it that it was gone before I had a chance to say or do anything. That coyote could have been a male also they squat too from time to time. That trail reminded me so much of the Granite Canyon Trail up out of Jackson Hole Wyoming over into Alaska basin, when you was looking down on that water that reminded me a lot of that. I took that trail I just mentioned in 1976 in the middle of the summer and on the way down I came down towards Jenny Lake, down through hurricane pass and I stopped to take a picture of the Grand Tetons all three of them it took two pictures and when I held the camera down to see if I had any more film and I looked up the clouds had already dropped and covered the Grand Teton itself that told me right off the bat I better get down off that mountain cuz I was in short sleeve shirt and shorts and by the time I got down to my pack it was snowing on me but I loved every minute of it. I thought you might enjoy my little trip into Tetons the trip you just made reminded me of it so much. Thanks for the video have a great day and stay safe out there Dixie.
