Glad someone else finally gets it. To be fair, I don’t expect every fan to care about the internal mechanics of Square Enix, so when you say “Nomura didn’t want to make KH3” and they get why confused or even angry it’s understandable. Fact is though, it’s pretty damn obvious at this point.
They really need someone else of the KH series and let nomura work on what he wants. But the community and some kh TH-cam can’t bare to a kh game without nomura. I feel bad for nomura and hope he gets what he wants.
You know when you break it down like that I really really get it. I love KH. The series got me into video games and I was really looking foreword to 3. But when credits rolled I felt empty and couldn’t point to why. And I think you nailed it. The game lacks a level of passion. And I really don’t blame Nomura for not having it. I’d be pissed to. Too bad we’ll never see his vision for Versus
I think your channel is something I will need for the future, because if there’s anything I’ve learned this year in gaming (we’re on the last day, so this comment is way overdue 😂), it’s that the gaming community doesn’t have an understanding of developers, the people who really make games, more often than I would be comfortable with. Granted, some people, like Todd Howard, really deserve to be scrutinized. Not everyone is perfect. But we see people like Nomura being, at least from what I’ve seen online, criminally misunderstood and blamed for a lot of stuff that are just out of his hands. I do see how he didn’t want to work on KHIII, at least not in the physical and emotional state he was in, but I don’t think that means he’s totally burned out on Kingdom Hearts. If that were the case, I really don’t think he’d have included Yozora as a vital story element for the series’ future, because as yourself said, it’s like he’s doing whatever he wants with the series now, meaning he wants to continue making games for it. At least the Xehanort saga, which I’m guessing from his perspective, dragged on for too long, has finally ended, and he gets to take the series in a bold and new direction that feels like he’s doing what he wants, because, as people online are calling it, it’s his revenge arc for Versus XIII, the game he was supposed to have worked and completed, and seemingly genuinely cared about. This may be false hope on my part, but I’m hopeful that Square has learned its lesson on how better manage its projects for the next decade and beyond, if splitting Final Fantasy VII Remake into multiple parts is any indication.
Omg ! I went to like the video and saw how few viewers have seen this. Criminal! Incredible information! I love gamedev stories like this and have a keen interest in square Enix. Majorly appreciate your sense for communicating what you know and keeping speculation to a healthy amount
Damn Square is a fucking mess lmao! There are studios with half of those resources that could do more. No wonder Verum Rex is even a concept and Kh3 and ffxv turned out the way they did. Ff7r is the only hope! Holy fuck I hope that game turns out good!
Nice vid Jacob. Yeah, you know a lot more about this then clearly maybe anybody but at least I kinda liked 15 even though it was immensely a mediocre mess.
I never liked how Nomura started out as a character designer and artist and eventually got promoted into a position it doesn't seem like he's qualified or experienced in. I think there's a phrase for getting promoted to something you're not qualified for. Looking at how he continued to infringe on creative aspects of games like kh and versus like writing and structure. Seems like he'd be better in a creative director position than a general director position that is really more about management and getting the product done.
The term is the Peter Principle. A person is never really qualifed for the job they are applying for. To paraphrase: they master thier current job and are good at it then the powers that be say "gee they are really good at job abc lets permote them to job xyz." Like a regular working moving up to a supervusor postion. Its everywhere and is a load of BS.

This is why I love Jacob. This dude really digs into the shit and just makes it all clear.
It just _Works_

We kinda will see it, though, with Yozora.

At least it seems like they decided to finally stop making new engines for every game
Hopefully
I hope they learned their lesson
Yep, going from UE4 to UE5 for KH4

I feel like that silence was most likely the internal or external stunned silence Namura went through after he was notified of this.

Damn, no wonder he phoned in the ending to KHIII, I just want him to get to make a game he likes
When I said on Twitter that Nomura didn’t want to work in Kingdom Hearts anymore, people reacted like I insulted their mother.
You're not alone. It seems pretty obvious.😒
Kinda curious how you came up with that conclusion.
@@aun1426 I mean it's kinda obvious that after Square destroyed his dream project he stopped caring about kh
Fuzzy but why? isn’t that his baby at this point after they fucked him over with 🆚 XIII
Legit had a FF VII commercial before this.
After watching the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, it only strengthens my belief in everything you said in this video.

So now that ff7 remake is out, what do you think of it?
@@themaskedlucas It’s ok-decent for a Remake of a 20+ old game.

poor nomura 😭
It’s a shame tbh.
@@roxas1802 it sure as hell is why dose he have to suffer so much
