  • Hello all! I wanted to share what a typical day looks like for me as a part-time working outside the home homeschool mom (that's a mouthful!). Do you work and homeschool together? What is your best advice, as I (and I'm sure other moms) would love to know. Leave your best tips and tricks in the comments below.

It's really awesome you have your moms support on this. I hope I can be as supportive of my kids when they have their own kids

The dog stayed in the same spot at the end of the bed while you made it. 🥰

Thank you so much for your down to earth approach and practical ideas and tips! I work part-time and we are really considering homeschooling for next year (grades 7, 5, 3 and preschool) so this video was extremely helpful 💕 Thank you!

I just bought a wine tumbler for my young daughter! It was super on sale and works great!! I guess I should think twice before packing it in the diaper bag though, right!?! Haha

Loved your video! Any ideas for moms that work full time outside of the home for homeschooling elementary aged kiddos? We don't have any family or friends around to help out so we're out of ideas on how to make homeschooling work.

Hi Hannah! Thank you! So will this be your first year homeschooling? I would say have them do their independent work while your gone. You’d be surprised how much kids can do independently. If the curriculum requires them to read aloud, have them read to whoever is watching them while you’re at work or at night to you before bed. Grouping subjects like history and science is a HUGE timesaver and the reading part of it can be done at night too. One major thing that really helped me is that as soon as I got home from work, I’d immediately do their language and math lessons. It was SO tempting to just want to sit down and relax after a long day, but then that lost all my momentum to do their lessons. If I went straight to their lessons right after work then I still had that inertia going.
Rooted homeschool has a day in the life video as well on working and homeschooling. I think she works full time.
Depending on their ages, have them do chores during the day too so that all the cleaning and everything isn’t all on you.
I know there are many families who the mom works full time and they still homeschool. It’s hard and life is busy, but if you feel it’s the right choice for your family and stay in that mindset, then you can definitely make it work!

@@thepracticalhomeschooler thank you! It would be our first year homeschooling. So Kindergarten and preschool so we don't quite have readers yet but hopefully soon!

@@hannahgresham1318 ahh ok! Good luck! The first year I think is the toughest (it’s helpful to go into it knowing that), just because it’s so new, but thankfully yours are small so you don’t have to worry about doing a ton of school work!

So funny!! I use a wine tumbler for my morning iced coffee!! I knew what it was when I bought it but my husband teases me that ‘mommy needs wine first thing’ 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s the perfect size!!

We love our dishwasher, but I don’t sort it one of my kids get to it b4 me. I don’t make my beef even b4 I study or go to placement. My daughter tells me she doesn’t make her bed and I’ve never seen it made in the day, she copies us and makes it b4 bed. We do together time at different times of the day. I worked full time when my kids where younger but my kids came work with me till they went to school as I worked in daycare so they went there. We where in different rooms, I didn’t want to work in there classes!!! I don’t get updates till I get home from placement unless it’s needed but I know they are safe with my in laws. My kids love doing food shops as I allow them to put anything in the cart but I check the health stats b4 I allow it to stay in. We have a shortage of gas here. My in laws check their work on days I’m not there but I choose what curriculum we use but they did some of the curriculums with me and my husband when we where kids and they do the next lesson. I buy easy to prepare foods but check they are healthy!!!

I would be very interested more easy healthy meals ideas! I struggle majorly in that area. We often turn to unhealthy convenience foods as busy homeschoolers

Lots of different ones! Beautiful feet books, the good and the beautiful, Abeka are the main ones

@@thepracticalhomeschooler thanks so much for the response! I'm asking because we might homeschool my oldest who will be going into first grade. I work remotely but I do work full time so it would be a little bit tricky though.
