- Birling Gap flight - Only able to do this due to having have a CAA licence,insurance and permission to fly over these houses.
I have radio communications with air traffic, incoming emergency service choppers that are regular visitors to this area at low height!!

Eddie - brilliant film and extremely fascinating - have just looked at some old photo's of the site from the 1920's and the level of erosion is extraordinary. Notice they have now removed the end house and the cream one is next in line!! Hope to visit someday before it all goes into the sea. Big thanks and great filmwork

It looks like there were four more houses, a barn and a good chunk of allotment that had already gone, before this video was made.
what an amazing bit of footage, super HD quality and very stable. Also very brave sending the drone out over the sea. I am most impressed.

Those houses used to be a couple of hundred yards from the sea.

The three smaller buildings attached to the big main building, originally servants quarters? Or all the animals, ie. Milk cow, chickens, hogs, etc . . . And the white cliffs to the north? Cliffs of Dover? Thank you.

I just watched another video from this location where part of the cliff just falls into the ocean. I wouldn't set foot in that house after seeing that. At some point I'm sure the cliff beneath it will collapse taking the house with it.
When I visited in April 2016, the end house shown on this video had gone (but the next one - the white one - was still several meters clear of the cliff edge.) As each house gets damaged it appears that they demolish it and re-make an end wall from the party wall..

Seems the white cliffs of Dover will very soon become the white sand beaches of Dover.. I note that the exact same thing is happening to the Californias coastal highway area. Many houses and condos already given back to the sea despite huge anti erosion methods tried.
This isn't Dover.
Time to move the house.

Rising sea levels more erosion, the soil and rock also add to the rise, Volume, Erosion darkens the water as it feeds the algae

Coastal erosion is a bitch... There is quite a bit of it as well on the French equivalent of these cliffs, on the other side of the channel.

Is the underlay all chalk?
Some of it is Coombe rock, which erodes even faster than the chalk which is why it erodes so unevenly

This is one of the most annoying videos I've ever seen due to the horrible sound .... turn your sound off before trying to watch this ...

Good view of the remaining cottages but you should have edited some music onto this ...and you have over egged your pudding a bit... you do not need a CAA licence , you just need to operate within CAA guidelines when using a drone for a hobby and with permission of the land or property owner. If you are creating a video or surveying a piece of land or property for commercial purposes and remuneration you require insurance . You will need a PfCO for commercial use but that is not a CAA licence , it is issued by an approved CAA assessor . Anyone can have communication with ATC and emergency services but again you are muddling your ingredients , if you just listen anyone can do that !. .. you need a full RSGB ham licence only if you are transmitting with such services , and only if authorised to do so. Your gimbal is a tad reactive and jerky and the camera has the hallmarks of a gopro with its viewfinder. Cheap and nasty stuff with big talk.
