John M. Evangelis That’s why they installed the ice control system just below the dam to break up the ice. Now that the dam is being removed they may never be needed but they are apparently leaving them.
It looks like sheet of white chocolate cracking up, it is the same kind of fracturing that occurs in ever-so-slightly bendable material when it gets over-stressed. Oddly calming and mesmerizing footage. P.S. Turn off the music before starting.
Fishy on an icy river is a special kind of crazy, even when you have neoprene waders. I've done it twice with a BF and I'll never willingly do it again. Between the guides freezing up and your fingers being so cold you can't tie on a fly, it isn't much fun. Give me a warm day in June when I can wade wet for smallies and carp and I'm much happier, even if I have to deal with the occasional water snake.
