I just saw Century at Hell's Heroes V, and they were amazing! "Christian Mistress covering High Spirits" are words I love to hear, and yes to metal adjacent.
The year thus far hasn't been too bad for releases Katatonia, Obituary, Hellripper, Ahab, And Oceans and last but not least Turkish doom death band, Sermon, putting out some good releases to name but a few. Am half Turkish so a little biassed but do check out Sermon, these guys have been going for years so really good but their first album. If you like My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, you will like them.
That Century album sounds really good! Also, Screamer "Kingmaker" and Freeroad "Do What You Feel" are both really good trad. metal releases from earlier this year. Lastly, I'm all for the inclusion of non-metal stuff!
This channel should be called 'new bands in leather jackets re-doing the old school heavy metal sound or slow, obscure death metal recorded in a dusty basement TV'. That's all that gets recommended on here.

You also failed to mention the April 21 release from Japanese power metallers Anthem - Crimson & Jet Black.
Overall, April seems like kind of a thin month for releases, but I am stoked for VoidCeremony and I have to shout out Cursebinder's album Drifting which comes out on Friday.
I believe first crop thrashers Overkill are also releasing a new album this month. Their 20th studio album. Heard about that? Did you also hear that Paul Gilbert put out a Dio inspired album? I'm out.
Would like to give some love to the new Vorna album that is coming out later this month. If you enjoy/can stand music that isn't in english then you can't miss it. These guys ooze emotion and are musically fantastic.

My most anticipated albums this month is undoubtedly Fires in the Distance - Air Not Meant for Us. The band showed a lot of potential with their last album which I probably would rate 7/10 (the main drawback was the lack of variance). Dødheimsgard - Black Medium Current Metallica - 72 Seasons (Sounds like their best album since The Black album after the first round of listening)
This has been weak year so far, last year was better especially at this point but still not as good as 2021. Hopefully, some of those promised this year will find a release date at some point.
