Here in Dubai we get the Hyundai santa fe made in Korea which are very reliable have very high miles on them with original engine and transmission used as taxis or rental car. USA makes their own santa fe but reality in Europe market and Korean made santa fe is very different.
I can confirm the info on the grand cherokee. I have a 2014, and nothing but problems after the 4th year. The sunroof kept leaking, the brakes and suspension still have weird noises that no one can figure out. Tires wear out prematurely. I can't wait to get rid of it.
Depreciation is an interesting concept. For example good luck buying a used Toyota Sienna vs a used Chrysler Pacifica. Is the Sienna more reliable ABSOLUTELY! But you are paying a huge premium for that reliability. Instead you can buy a Pacifica with reasonable reliability for a fraction of the price of a Sienna. In the long run the Pacifica won't be any more expensive than the Sienna to own (assuming you can actually find a Sienna to buy...lol). Another example is the Dodge RAM 1500. I've had a RAM since 2014. It has been absolutely trouble free with the 5.7 hemi engine. I bought it new and it cost $20,000 less than a similar equipped Toyota Tundra. Now would the resale value be higher on a 2014 Tundra....YES. But I would have had to pay $20,000 more for it in 2014! Plus I have no reason to sell my really reliable RAM. Even better news is that given the current market I would get good money for my RAM today! BTW - I agree that most Chrysler dealers are hard to deal with, but in my experience Toyota is just as bad. Toyota's customer service and dealer network suck. So your best bet it to find a reliable independent mechanic to work on your vehicle...regardless of make.
I can't believe Hyundai being so unreliable in the West In the uk, australia and mostly Asian countries they are the top spot for reliability after the Japanese
Yeah cause those are legit asian cars made in korea. In usa its made in america. Its like japan the toyotas made in japan are 10 times better than in America same goes for hyundai. Even the hyundai and kias made in europe is good cuz they compete with big brands like skoda and volkswagen but usa is still on the verge of perfecting it most people who buy them in America are satisfied its just some people plus they are " roumoured" to be an unreliable brand after the alabama theta accident.
@@Tingtong-gg5oe that's true but Hyundai mostly locally manufacture their cars in most of their countries only the top flagship cars like tucson come through cbu or ckd units. My Ford Explorers were the normally aspirated V6 engines. Perhaps the bigger engine makes the difference in reliability ? Thoughts?
I recently overheard a mechanic telling a customer that if she wanted to buy an Explorer, stay away from the 4-cylinders due to engine issues. But now that most car manufacturers are moving to smaller engines with more power, hopefully Ford will be able to fix the issues.
Useful list, Shari. Sad that reliability and esthetics are often inversely related. The front end of the Toyotas and Lexus models are generally ugly and drag producing (the Venza is one exception). At 2:06 the front end of one shows completely unnecessary cavities and gaps that reduce efficiency and are esthetically unappealing. The front of the Land Rover at 11:11 is much more aerodynamic and visually appealing. But what a waste -- it's a very expensive and unreliable vehicle.
Strange..... the typical Cd (Coefficient of drag - the lower the better) for a SUV is between 0.35 and 0.45 while the RAV4 has a Cd of 0.30....... BTW Land Rovers are notorious in the industry for higher than average Cd values in the mid to high 40s, the "shocking" exception is the Range Rover Velar having a Cd of 0.33. @@john-hughboyd233 Can you give a source for that claim? The RAV4 does have a high drag front end; the Venza has the exact same drive train (engine and motors) but has a more aerodynamic shape overall. According to Consumer Reports it gets about 3% higher mileage. In comparing those two, the lower drag shape is both more esthetically pleasing and improves efficiency. Win-win. The Lightyear 0 is not commercially available as far as I know, but it has a beautiful low-drag shape (Cd of about 0.18) and very high efficiency, capable of driving 40 miles a day on its photovoltaic panels alone. I recently took it to the dealer for appraisal and I was offered $31k which I gladly turn down.
Any new car that is not fully electric is worst car to buy. You have to consider the resale value 5 to 7 years from now when virtually no one will want them. Even if you are just starting out and can't afford much, a Chevy Bolt goes for $27,000, which comes in at below $20,000 after the $7,500 federal tax rebate credit. It has 250 plus miles of range. Or a Tesla Model 3 with a range of 270 miles goes for just under $42,000, which becomes $34,500 after the federal rebate. Of course, many states have their own additional rebates, so the Bolt is as low as $17,000; and the Model 3 as low as $32,000 in some states. And as you know, or should know, EVs need very little maintenance, (no oil changes; no brake changes; no new spark plug and cables, etc.) so they're the opposite of a money pit. Not to mention all the savings in not having to pay for gas, and all its fluctuating prices, ever again. If you have a home, you can charge it for free if you have solar.
All of the running costs are lower and the price for the performance is much lower. There is no gas powered car that can go 0-60 in 3 seconds like the performance model 3 for the price that is anywhere near 53k.
Highly recommend it. I have yet to have one not last at least 175K miles with very little repairs before selling just for the want of something different. I don’t see the Hyundai Santa Fe as a compact SUV. That would be the Tucson or HR-V. I had a Grand Cherokee L but decided it was too risky so I got rid of it after only a year. He skipped the full-size car category, like the Camry as well as the small cars, like Mazda 3.
They sure do. Always amazes me. But I think you have to realise that 1) most people don't know much about cars, and 2) A lot of people are attached to a certain brand name and probably don't know how poorly rated/performing that specific brand is.
Awesome video Shari, the lost generation of our society can really benefit from this video. I am shocked to see how many people still fall into the pit of buying a Hyundai, KIA and Genesis. I rather buy any domestic brand than those from a Korean manufacturer. I admit that I am biased but by far Toyota and Lexus are the best. 2nd best are the Mazdas. There is NO..3rd best because Nissan, Subaru and Hondas have many failure components from engines, transmission and overall poor built quality lately. Hondas and Nissan used to be good in the late 80s and 90s and Subaru improved but not nearly as other brand top brands. Lastly, if anyone is poor they should definitely save up and buy the Lexus GX460 or Toyota 4Runner because these two vehicles will literally last 2 decades if Krown rustproofed yearly. Poor people cannot go cheap, it will cost twice as much buying poor quality vehicles. If you can’t afford new GX or 4Runner buy an older one then maintain it well. Get involve in the maintenance schedules of vehicle…again the GX or 4Runner are gems for the working class. If you are rich then buy any other vehicle to keep the economy on float 😂 we need the rich money in rotation 😂
The lower prices of some car brands are really deceiving. Many think they are saving money when, in the long run, it ends up costing them way more in repairs and depreciation. That's why I wanted to share the data that demonstrates that.

This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
I have a jcpL v8 and I’ve been thinking of take the high resale value and getting something less risky
And yet, people still buy the vehicles on this 'worst' list.
They sure do. Always amazes me. But I think you have to realise that 1) most people don't know much about cars, and 2) A lot of people are attached to a certain brand name and probably don't know how poorly rated/performing that specific brand is.
Aside from resale value, Nissan Altimas are great. You never have to change the oil, get it washed, or even have insurance.
the problem are the the ones that came with the cvt transmision , not the rest of them
I agree with 10% of what was said in your video. I have 2 on that list and no issues with them in 5+ years of ownership
I have a 2011 Sube that runs great.
The lower prices of some car brands are really deceiving. Many think they are saving money when, in the long run, it ends up costing them way more in repairs and depreciation. That's why I wanted to share the data that demonstrates that.
@@carhelpcorner I thank God for your unbiased review on vehicles. Have you ever considered collaborating with Car Care Nut. AMD and you have similar value and honesty.
The dealership service experience in GTA is horrible. From the advisors to parts department…everyone is taking their cut to up sell and push for extra service. Would love to see a video on how to deal and work with this corruption at the dealer. Downside of buying a new car is dealing with service department.
I'll just stick with my 2009 Highlander made in Japan!! It should at least get to 400,000......that's until 2040 !!
Make a video on G wagon ❤
our pacific already had to get its engine replaced
only had it for 1 year
Please review dodge charger GT
moral of the story: in any case buy a Toyota
and Honda (just make sure they aren’t turbos)
Isn't Rav4 much smaller than Sanfafe?
RIP those cars with issues
man I am surprised that the RAV4 is on the list
Was waiting on the 4Runner lol
I would like to buy a vehicle that I would own when retired. I like the SUVs what can you suggest?
Depends on your budget, but Mazda and Lexus make some amazing ones right now that you can't go wrong with. Toyota and Honda have excellent options too.
Thank you for your advice. Is Toyota C-HR automatic? Will try to do some research so that I can weigh my options.Thank you once again.
@@cairozulu6700 I'd stay away from the C-HR. It hasn't been Toyota's finest idea. It's also being discontinued.
@@s-man3684 Thanks @S-Man for your frank and informed advice. Will heed your call.
This video should've been called "Why Toyota Products Are Better Than Everyone Else"
Hi sir, is that possible for you to compare 2024 grand highlander with Mazda cx90 please
I'm working on this one!
10 worst vehicles to buy
1. Toyota rav 4, literally every boring family has one, os reliable but offers nothing else
2. Toyota Tundra, 6 recalls, not even a v8 any more, new tech, new problems
3. Toyota Highlander, wants to be a full size suv but isnt, wants to be luxuries but isnt, costs as much as an attractive suv but it doesnt attract anyone
4. Totoya camry, boring generic toyota
5. Toyota corrolla, every other person has one, it has gas, brake and seats, good job toyota..
6. Toyota 4Runner, could pick any other offroad SUV and itll make more sense, too fancy and expensive to take through nushes, too generic for public roads, loss loss situation
7. Lexus rs350, not an suv, not a car, wants to be a mercedes or bmw but is still a toyota
8. Toyota peius, if you wanna be considered a cab driver, it may be a good car for you
9. Toyota tacoma, everyone praises it but its not even a full size truck, no one cares for fake dinky little truck toys
10. Toyota bz4X, i thought toyota said EVs are useless and theyll never make them..
As you can see, for us that arent paid by toyota, we can easily have every reqaon to NOT buy one. It would be easier to just not suggest lexus and toyota 9/10 cars. A lot of us arent generic boring individulas looking to keep a car fir 30 years and coubt pennies we spend on gas. Please tey to include everyone vecause this video makes you look like a toyota representitive.
What about Rv tow vehicles
I can't do toyota they look so old inside
I appreciate your videos. But could I make a request/give you a suggestion? Please consider using phrase other than "this is why it only got..." Thanks.
Without a doubt every Stellantis product should be on this list.
Stellantis and Garbage Motors. Probably the two largest manufacturers of 💩💩💩💩💩 on the market.
I'll rather have something nice and stylish over boring and ugly 😂
I was expecting to see VW Tiguan.
He only recommends Toyota, lexus, and sometimes Honda.
its because japanese cars in general always been more reliable than the rest but in the last 20 years the difference between a japanese car and the rest became bigger ,,any descent mechanic or ingenier can inform you about that
I was surprised Velar was there and not the Range Rover, but I guess all I needed to do was wait for the number one spot. I can't see how poor people keep buying these after they've been used by the rich. I guess we are rhe suckers.
The Range Rover was there! Guess you didn't watch until the end 😄
Just buy a Toyota, buy once, cry once.
I’m sure there more. You know so I’m sure.
my ram 1500 hemi cost me 10 grand 15 years ago and I just sold it for 12 grand yesterday. Runs perfect and is an awesome vehicle.
Why make a 12.45 mins video? You could just say only buy Toyota or Lexus and nothing else 🙂
This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
No more timestamps??
Sad
GMC government motors and China made the list. You can't beat the Chinese. A+ rating. Give me a break.
in conclusion, buy a toyota
No Honda??
Basically buy Toyota and Lexus(aka Toyota)
Your rankings are very similar to Consumer Reports. Now, all the "recommended" vehicles are Toyota, which doesn't surprise me. But is this video really a Toyota commercial? Don't get me wrong, we are waiting for our factory ordered 2023 Toyota Camry XLE AWD so I am a fan of Toyota too. P.S. Our other vehicle is a 2022 Hyundai Kona Limited 1.6T gas engine which isn't the best car either (again, as ranked by CR).
It could seem that way but I'm just sharing the data from Car Edge's comprehensive research. It happens to align with Consumer Reports.
Summarizing: good looking cars are junk, while boring looking ones are ok 😢😢 TOYOTAS are all ugly as heck!
I'm goig to recommend TOYOTA to my sister when she gets rid of her 2007 Honda.
This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
I wouldn’t buy any Chrysler product
My unreliable cars is Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. Toyota RAV4. Toyota GR Corolla. And money pit Lexus. GX. LX. RC. And LS. And LC
Those are the worst vehicles even it’s made in Japan. Still sucks
@Lime Life no. I hate it. 😂
@@majood245 you just won the award for being the biggest troll on the interwebs today!! Congrats my boi 👏🏻
@@lennygarrison6836 lol. Just Look how how unreliable Lexus full luxury sedan LS tho. These are expensive for maintenance and repair costs in the world. It cost me for spare parts 8000$ and 7500 for maintenance per ten years. Lexus are so unaffordable vehicles period. It starts at 51 grand for nothing. And the GX with a stupid V8 engine 67 grand. And the LX start at over 120 grand. The LX are the worst and ugly K car to begin with. And this LX an Endless money pits
You’re big troll 😈
@@lennygarrison6836 This wad goes around talking fart
@Lime Life @Majood prefers French kisses. Hugs don't cut it
Be aware of false information listed here. This guy is definitely very biased and I have high suspicion he is getting paid by Toyota. Honda CR-V is ranked significantly higher than Rav-4 by car edge and cost to own is almost the same, so he should suggest CR-V instead of RAV-4, but he is so biased. I don’t trust his reports.
Summary: Buy Toyota and Lexus.
This is a long Toyota commercial
Is this a Toyota commercial? 😂😅
Car Edge says to buy a Toyota.
Happy with my Jeep Cherokee. Don't want to drive a tin can.
Do not agree with your Toyota data.
No facts to back up your opinion, makes an opinion rather worthless, doesn’t it?
It's not my data I'm just sharing it.
you dont need to agree or desagree , it is just how it is
@@luiscardozo0000 exactly, my parents owned many toyotas and they were reliable so i agree with what shari said
Um Shari the Santa Fe is a midsize suv not compact the Tucson is the compact suv
Lol who cares it's still crap
Toyota fanboy!
Oh my god what a lot of kak every alternative is ? 😅😅😅😅😅
How so?
This is an AWESOME Toyota Commercial . . . . .
the quality of toyota dont need comercials anymore
True.
This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
Was this video sponsored by Toyota/Lexus?😂
This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
You could have done this video in 10 seconds by telling everyone to just buy a Toyota/Lexus product. Almost like an infomercial.
This is Definitely and accurately a Toyota commercial. I know what this guy is gonna say before he even says it.
I don't why you made all these videos. All time your shouting toyota. I think toyota have paid yoy good money and please check your facts also as JD power number for RAV4 are lesser than santa fe
what you are saying its a little unbelievable my friend
Did Toyota pay for this video
Its just his personal opinion after reading few articles from internet… lol.
There's actually no opinion here. Just sharing the data from some very comprehensive research
