I've had that happen before too. Didn't take long at all to learn to watch dock door numbers too, because I've been told to drop a trailer in a spot only to figure out that the only spot anywhere on the lot with such a number was a dock door.

I thought it was pretty funny and literally said to myself as he was unhooking the trailer after he backed up to the door…… uh oh He forgot to open up the swing doors then about 30 seconds later he started hooking the truck back up and pulled forward and I started laughing 😂😂😂😂……
I thought Dave was gonna flip shit after he had to get back out the truck a 3rd time for his lock and keys 😂 like it was intense when you realize that he forgot he didn't open his doors for the dock and had to reconnect but when he got in the truck without his key I thought the man was gonna finally break 😂 keep trucking Dave we all have days like that my man. @@JohnHallgren As someone who used to work as Security/Shipping & Inbound, I FULLY agree! This kinda crap happens way to much, and I've even had this conversation with co-workers who forget to mention whether it's a dock or door.

This happen at on the shipper/receiving docks person to . I drive trucks and worker on the docks after driven. We ask for a 53 ft van trailer and get a refer. I been on both sides of this

Hey Dave, The fact that you aired this even though you did so many mistakes shows your integrity. You could’ve easily not posted this video and not looked like a newbie. But you posted it and it shows that you are willing to do what it takes to be your best. Keep on keeping on… Keep on Truckin. We did not become as good as we are overnight. Been driving trucks 39 years I’m now a yard hostler and I have no problem helping drivers when they come in my yard.
This will remain one of my favorite videos by Dave. The amount of frustration can't be explained. Drivers want to spend as little time not driving as possible. The time wasted here can make a huge difference in the day, especially with electronic logs

Edit: We've all been there bud, and those that say they haven't are liars. I know it can be frustrating, but keep your head up big man.

I cracked up when I realized he wasn't to far from where he said "plot twist" LOL
You can tell that one mistake really rattled him. It was all downhill from there. He started making simple rookie mistakes one after the other. Forgot to open the trailer and forgot to pick up the padlock.
I actually got a little weirded out when you realized it was a dock and then got quiet on us. I felt your frustration, Dave, but in the end you did good. I thought you were going to have a moto mind moment like in the old days. Stay safe.

This is by far the most hilarious video I have watched from David in so long this basically sums up the life of a trucker as soon as you realize you messed up you can’t blame nobody but yourself and it is hilarious I love the videos definitely like this one!
Dave, we all have those days where one thing starts off a whole set of "unfortunate events" lol, had one today as I opened 1 door, then got to talking with another driver and then got back in the truck and backed her into the door and waited, and waited, until one of the dock guys came out and said "you need to open your other door", pulled up, opened the other door, slammed the dock hard (because I need creep mode enabled on my truck....(it always lurches backwards), then sat there in shame while the other trucks were silently judging me.
In any case, your channel is my favorite out of all others I watch because it's real, it's humorous and shows mishaps that we can all (except the super truckers) can relate to.

Now I'm not going to blame Dave for the dock confusion. I work security at truck gates for a few years at different facilities. With multiple officers.. now when and if u encounter a situation like this and the number you are given is low -168 or lower it is a dock. Especially it big facilities like this.. or it's a live load spot. Now the officer ahem... that said individual is supposed to specify if it's a DOCK DOOR or a drop location like a parking spot. If they do not do this.. do not blame yourself. Blame the logistical officer as that is his job. I always make sure the driver understands before I let them in. I value your time just like you do. And I hate little annoyances like this. So my typical run down is.. - They want you to drop this trailer in DOCK DOOR 137 slide tandems to the rear. Disconnect THEN go inside hand over paperwork. Since shipping is in today. They'll give u paperwork your loaded trailer is.. along that wall of trailer infront of you. Don't go to the other lot up the ramp.. those are relays.. after that.. when u come back around theirs a scale.. I need all axle weights & ur gross. Take a picture if u gotta.. then come back to me.. take the lane furthest from the building and I'll get ur numbers and or golden. But not every officer can do his job correctly. So I don't blame dave... some people just don't care.. now leaving the doors closed while backing into the dock.. then leaving ur lock inside the trailer... that's just frustration taking over.. always stay positive man.. always I know I do. And yes I had my cdl A going to regain them here soon. So just hope every has a Good day :) appreciate life :) 😀

This is definitely a "I'm in the wrong industry" moment. 14:35-18:50 I swear I've had that same thought process too many times to count, it doesn't help when you're not properly informed on the specificities. The silence after the hootin and hollerin about not knowing what to do, after you figure it out, is one of the most sobering and humbling feelings I can describe. I ride with my husband in a semi. I have been to this place before with my husband. I was yelling... "It's a dock door," on your first turn looking for 164. I have no idea how I remembered that? But you reminded me of my two boys who just got their CDL in 2021. All my youngest says is. Mom, "I just hurt my pride." We just laugh it all off and go on to the next thing. I'm so glad for your honest video and not deleting or editing. Be safe out there!

This is so weird to watch. I was OTR with KLLM a couple years ago and ive done this exact load before but opposite. I went from kraft in Aurora IL down to the caves and its really cool to see someone else's perspective on the same run i used to do. Love watching the videos man. Thanks for the good content

Y’know what’s funny. I always go to that facility, or the refrigerated side on Indian Trail, and when you said 164 I immediately thought of the dock door I almost always get put in when they screw up the weight on a load I pick up outta there

Honestly, this would be a great practical use for a drone to scout trailer yards and other parking areas. Regardless, it would be logical to have some kind of yard map/chart to refer to in the check-in office.
Yeah, I'm surprised it's not common to have a map in the office. You can probably make one in 30 mins or so and use it to make everything much easier.
It would be a great place for one OUNCE of technology, like a digital yard map that a trucker could use. This industry is so freaking behind the times that it's not even funny.
