Trucker here, there will be good and bad days. Don't let the peanut gallery of truckers get to you in the comments. Day to day road tripping is an experience of gaining knowledge. Love your videos!! Keep on truckin'!! 🧡
I did trucking for about 6 months and I ran into a couple of these situations. The stress was honestly not worth it. So I respect anyone who does trucking for a living
I got out due to developing blood clots in my right leg. I'm with you, it isn't worth driving truck. If they raised the pay to about *double* what people usually get now, maybe it'd be worth it.
Thank you for sharing your difficault and frustrating days as well and being honest. You deal with situations outside of your control so well and even though you must have been so frustrated you staying so calm.
You might be wanting to start calling the shipper in advance and write down directions. The GPS has no clue where you need to go to get loaded. I have been driving for 28 years and I still have to do this for places I have never been to before. Always collect as much information as possible. Sooner or later you will find yourself in a place where you will have no choice but to back up for potentially a mile or more. I have done this before, not even a little bit fun. But that will make for some good content. :) Also, I enjoy your videos. Your personality is quirky, and you make me laugh. Keep up the good work!
No Matter what I'd Google Earth anywhere I'd never been before, find the truck entrance, get the Lat/Long and enter it into a Trusted truck gps, never had any problem doing it that way.
You mean the inefficiencies of some shippers . Everyone who has ever gone to certain beer companies can relate to this video . Now days with more and more companies charging Hefty hourly amounts for delay it’s becoming less of a problem . My company you would have been paid 60 dollars for a live load or unload plus 22 an hour to wait . So we don’t wait around much they are motivated to get us loaded .
Used to work for Anheusr and have been to their plant in St. Louis and know what it's like getting into that facility. It's crazy confusing. Hang in there Alex. There will be better days. Thoughts and prayers for a better week for you!
19:00: Can't you slide your tandems another notch, or are you already in the Idaho hole (39'6")? FWIW, if you are 60 lbs over gross, that's only about 8 gallons of diesel, and you'll burn that off in about 60 miles. Where is the closest open scalehouse? I'd slide it and go....
Hey Alex great videos, just some advice just leave your parking lights on while docked/parked, in case someone has to park next to you so it doesn't blind them while backing.
I usually only see your shorts but I actually found this video really interesting. Its funny seeing the daily problems you deal with, I hope you're still enjoying your field of work I know you've been through a lot.
Those beer places suck. I had a similar experience at one in GA. They take forever to get you in, forever to load you, you have to strap your own load, then there is a long ass slow moving line getting out, and then to top it off I'm over weight, gotta go back to a door and get the load reworked. You think they would know how much beer they can legally fit in a trailer...
This why I gave up OTR a year and a half ago. Drove OTR for 3 years been to every state that touches. Feels good sleeping in my bed every night. Travel safe , make sure to check weather before you accept a load this time a year 🤙🏾
As a food delivery driver who deals with the struggles of traffic and finding parking in the city by car, this is humbling lol Big ups all truck drivers
17:10 you said in the beginning this yard required you to pick up the load with a full tank of gas. So if your overweight following their rules what are you supposed to do. Because if someone else shows up to take the load, following the same rules, they’re just gonna drive off, overweight and burn the gas on the move.
Well said!! Alex is doing really well. He keeps his cool despite all the frustration. Very difficult I’m sure but he’s young, intelligent and learning. He has incredible patience and a great attitude.
Hey Alex, question, I’ve read that moving the trailer tires back and forth reduces or adds weight (250lbs per pin hole) to and from the drive axles or the trailer. Is that true? And would you have been able to move it back to the trailer? Then remove some fuel to get your gross weight down. 7lbs per gallon by the way while water is nearly 8.5lbs.
I'm someone that would rather park a half mile away instead of parallel park a honda civic. Not fitting is exactly why I am terrified to start trucking. What if you get totally stuck
Man, I went through the same thing at A-B 35 years ago. It was a clusterfuck then, and it still is. Just pray you never have to go to their plant in Newark, NJ... BTW, stop relying on "4-wheeler GPS"; you'll end up on some road you weren't supposed to be on, and you'll end up having to back up a full mile to get out. I used to get on a lot of roads like that back then, but I was driving a 48" trailer and a cabover. Don't be afraid to ask for specific directions from your dispatcher. Back then, I had no phone, just a map.
what amazes me is that we have technology that can land a rocket in the same spot after being used but we cannot seem to get GPS and businesses to identify clear addresses and coordinates. Personally, the trucking companies, not the drivers, should be tasked with ensuring the drivers have everything needed prior to picking up and dropping off a load.
That place is a nightmare they loaded me heavy also had to get reworked it took them 10 hours for reworked after being already being there for 5 hours just to get me loaded. I definitely haven't been back and never will. Goodluck bud
Take that real estate don't be courtious .Make them back up swerve to the side walk or just plain wait . Use those flasher make them understand your going forward and there in the way
Back in the day there was no cell phones or gps of any kind.Cabover trucks beat the tar out of the drivers, and the were a huge pain in the ass to row gears in.Sorry to be negative but it doesn’t really get much better driving for a common carrier.Terminal to terminal trucking(think doubles ) can be a better life, google that one day
Alex, diesel weighs 8.5 pounds per gallon. Some locomotives I ran had 3600-gallon fuel tanks, also the average 4 axle locomotive weighs around 125 tons or 250,000 pounds. Jerold is very light, and if I get hired, I want a new Frieghtliner to name Fred.
Saw title! That's all it took to say " Then get out of trucking Nunior" Your plight isn't close to areas of cities I drove in! That's a walk in the park Nunior! That is an intentional " N"
Just a suggestion… Never… ever… go to Anheuser-Busch (or any water bottling plant) with your fuel tanks full. If you know you’re going there, try and go with your fuel on or around 1/2 full… that’ll insure that situation won’t happen again.🤔
Why didn't you just drive? 60 lb looks like 12 gallons of fuel, and around 110+- miles. 165 lb on your drive axle would probably disappear in another 55 miles.
love the rides with you Alex- talking to yourself ! That way I see what a truck driver goes through!- worry wart as you talk your way through! Lol! I bet their is some seasoned truck drivers love listening to you and they must reminnis what their early driving days were like.! lol!
This video got a like just because he parked that bobtail behind the other bobtail. Good job Alex! Y’all need to stop taking up a whole spot bobtail. And he got on the ramp wayyyy better!
Bro. Love the videos. But seriously… you’ve gotta route plan at least for the shipper and customer. I usually look ahead and use satellite view before arriving to see if the line is taking me the right way. Also…. In this situation, you know you can pull over somewhere and put your 4 ways on to look at the map/satellite.
Day 1, 8 hours looking for trailer. Day 2, get overloaded. Get nonsense directions. Hmm, wonder why I quit trucking? Shipper takes 9 hours to load a supposedly drop-n-hook, expected to be delivered on time anyway. Alex, if you think St Louis is bad, try New Jersey
I had to drive through Pittsburgh on a state route the other day. Hope you never have to go there with a 53'. It's not fun, not to mention the lanes are tight and the telephone poles are legit at the curb right at the road.
Ive been there before, Garmin took me right the first time, went through downtown but it was a straight shot. Google maps was trying to take you to the offices.
What a debacle with the strap issue, and how your 160 lbs too heavy on the truck? Couldn't you slide the trailer tires forward a bit to move the distribution a bit rear?
Can you do a rundown on all the buttons that you have? If you already have a video of it I'm sorry maybe you could just link it in the description in your next video? But I see a lot of lights flashing and I see you press a lot of different buttons at different times while you're driving and not while you're driving and I'm just curious
Great video, I was thinking about being a truck driver, not worth it for me at this time. Maybe when I can’t handle the my physicalness of my job, but I’ve been blessed, after moving from Texas after moving back home to California. Keep on trucking ..

There are too many super truckers out there. It’s not hard to have words of encouragement because trucking isn’t is
You kept your cool and used your head despite being in a super tough situation. It's been a great lesson for a noob like me. Thanks, Alex.

I always call to gain more info too.
Do it people .
A phone call only takes minutes.
A missed delivery takes hours.
You have a crush on bro?
The inefficiencies in the trucking industry is unreal
It’s what happens when politicians get involved.

No matter what, you're still a good driver. Happy Thanksgiving!
At 3:10 you said caramel both ways and i love you for it. Keep up the awesome videos, my friend!
Missouri has some beautiful country to drive thru. Those highways cut threw the high rock walls. Absolute joy to drive.
The stresses of trucking 🚚 You're doing awesome Alex 👍 keep it up!

I dont know why they tell you to have a full tank then they load you extra heavy.
total BS, always get names

Used to be in downtown St. Louis twice a month
Always small streets and confusing w traffic everywhere
160 lbs over send it! Dot wouldn't even bat a eye.
Exactly, also not sure how much he had to work with for moving the trailer axles, or fifth wheel placement
The only problem is once he makes a big deal about it then everyone else has to agree or they'd get in trouble.
This is why I did dedicated routes. I hated trying to find where I needed to go all the time.
Dedicated sounds like it'd get boring quick tho
I know it gets frustrating but you handle it all very well.
Well said!! Alex is doing really well. He keeps his cool despite all the frustration. Very difficult I’m sure but he’s young, intelligent and learning. He has incredible patience and a great attitude.
Whenever I have problems locating the final, I usually give the receiver/shipper a quick call to help "fine-tune" the directions 👍

Very stressful trip. Thank you Alex for sharing. I enjoy your videos.
New drinking game: Every one drinks a shot every time he says "oh my gosh" or " oh my god"! That would end well... 🤣🤣
Or argues with the gps 😁😁😁

After playing truck sim for over 100 hours, i can say that i would get put in prison within the first few minutes.
You sir, are a master trucker.

160 lbs overweight and only 60lbs overweight on the drives just run it. Fuel weight is 8lbs per gallon. No dot will bother you for that
Maybe Kommiefornia, but, 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕them!!!!!
This is one reason when I travel by car on the highway I always beat feet it around a big rig because you never know how secure something is inside.
0:40: "TURN RIGHT ONTO VIADUCT!!!" Vhy a duck? Vhy not a goose?? (This old pun brought to you by Chico Marx...)
Been there done that !! It sucks when your gps does'nt know !! That's when your nerves start !! lol
Love your videos Alex!
*bang bang crash*
"I don't understand..."
Felt that on a monumental level
I’ve been there. Just follow the signs for trucks. Not that difficult
Love it when he says “oh mah gash!”
Good Video Alex used to drive and making you wait is not fair to truckers Keep up the good work you got great attitude
Love watching ur videos brother ,all the way from Morocco with love💙

Ah man, what a day you had! That really sucks man. Cheer up buddy, tomorrow will be a better day.
Why not just slide your trailer tandems up one hole that would take 260 pounds off or just do nothing the DOT is not going to stop you 160 pounds
Man, I went through the same thing at A-B 35 years ago. It was a clusterfuck then, and it still is. Just pray you never have to go to their plant in Newark, NJ...
