Great to see you back behind the wheel in classic RWD form. Your initial trucking vids are what partially inspired me to return to driving. I have over 13 years exp driving trucks and left it for about 7 or so years to get back into professional sales. Last year, after the pandemic and after watching several of your vids, I was inspired to return to driving. Currently running local for an old boss, but looking forward to getting back OTR again soon. I’m 52 and want to run all lower 48 before I “hang up” the cdl. Will enjoy your videos once again as I continue working my way back into this field. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep on keepin’ on man!

Well it's good to see you back bro. Welcome back to another truckin vlog. Driving at truck is like riding a bike, you never forget, once you get behind the wheel it all comes back to you. I was out of the truck for 3 months recovering from a fractured wrists, after I came back to work it was like I was never out of the truck.
Definitely glad you’re back at it man! And that you’re sticking with CFI. Trucking seems to be something that is really hard to leave behind once you’ve done it. Nothing else seems as free. Good and bad days for sure but it’s worth it! Be safe driver!🚛

About a year ago I hated working the job I was working and wanted to find a career I'd enjoy. Trucking was always something I'd had in the back of my mind but I didn't know anything about it. I started watching trucking videos from a few different TH-camrs but I'd primarily watch your videos because they were the most entertaining. Your videos taught me so much and took some of the nerves away since I saw what I was getting into. I've been with CFI solo since March of 2022. Really glad to have you back in the trucking game. Keep the shinny side up dirty side down🤘

@@RidingWithDave Dave my man, there is a little pull out desk, in my new Cascadia, in between the closet and the bottom storage door, there is a little pullout just like the one you pulled, just on the opposite side of where you pulled it. Its more of a desk though and 100% flat.

You’ll get to liking the Cascadia in no time. Backing is way nicer than the KWs, you don’t get that constant jump. You might need to use your paddle shifter quite a bit since the Cascadias like to throw themselves down to 1st gear at stops on occasion. The air slide is for the 5th wheel. You’ll hit it accidentally when you go to lower your suspension at least once 😉. Your a/c is in eco mode in the video just in case you didn’t know. Gotta say it would be great to see you go local someday. I drive locally for Paper Transport and they’ve been great. Looking forward to your videos Dave!

Cascadias are nice enough, but the side view mirrors have a reputation of breaking off if you sneeze on them...

it's crazy cause I'm looking for a driving job in my local area and I see paper transport pop on indeed and I never herd of it before so was unsure about it
@@humbertocruz53 I’m sure it will depend on the area and your driver manager, but mine has been great. The mileage drivers on my fleet all start between 3-6 am depending on their route and they are usually done in 7-8 hours. There are hourly spotters who work set shifts and I’m hourly local along with one other driver. We get 50 hours a week but can finish early if you choose to. The company culture is actually good and authentic. What you see on TH-cam of them is actually how they are. The main rule with them is just never touch your phone without a DOT headset and you’ll be fine.

Welcome back Dave, I did the same thing took 2 months off and they gave me a freightliner at first I was skeptical and hated I didn't have a KW, but mine at least is so nice, my freightliner drives so much more smooth and everything is just nice for me at least

I think In terms of maximizing the use of space Volvo has all the companies beat. Personally for comfort I love the Volvo 860 table in the back and they’re so roomy it’s crazy. Now on other hand w900 with a studio sleeper would be my go to. Gotta drive a long nose I’m just too used to it. Stay safe Dave!

I think you’ll like the Freightliner once you get used to it. I’ve had 3, and they’re pretty good trucks. I got a T680 about a month ago. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I like it now.

happy you're back! it was super entertaining seeing you explore a truck I know inside and out. I wrench on those freightshakers all the time so seeing somebody learn just like I did 2 years ago was fun.
I think you'll like the freightliner. I had a hard time driving or a day or two as the spacing between the gears are so much closer than the t680! The only thing I didn't like about the freightliner is that they feel cheap on the inside with all that plastic.
It does I had a 2018 T680. I amazed how much better my Freightliner turns

Dave, I drove for a couple of years, then walked away from it. That was about 12 years ago. The universe spoke and now I run the mystery shop program for Love's Travel Stops. I am addicted to your videos! Your channel is the only one I have alerts set up for. Anyway, I'm so glad you're back!

If it’s not to hard could you show how cfi paperwork works in one of your videos it’s the one thing I’m really nervous about.
CFI is really simple it’s all on the tablet, don’t be scared to apply man. I went through the whole process and they will show you it all!

Dude you and your boys I guess this is what trucking is these days I can’t figure out what and where everything in this business went wrong but people like this keeps the new gen going I guess also it’s no drag race out there unless your a broke dick No cutting off cars trucks ect back out of it let the passing truck pass it’s no a game show some respect for yourself. You really lose no time backing out of it for seconds at a time . Personally I’m thinking of giving up driving to go to work for DOT Enforcement just to shut all the shit heads down.

His channel is a vlog channel not a biography channel. He doesn’t have to say everything that has transpired in time. (I only say that because I kept thinking the same thing, before I came to that conclusion.)
Also Dave got a question for you. I saw that at the beginning of this year the government said that they are going to start allowing 18 year-olds to drive out of state and I was curious if CFI had started doing that program yet?

@@zanehayes4380 it's on a state by state basis. Also, I think it's only for special circumstances like farm work. Your license will not allow you to cross state lines.
They've been saying that on and off for decades now, I wouldn't expect it to become law of the land anytime soon. I keep hearing "a bill's been introduced in Congress" year after year, but then nothing happens because there isn't enough support for it to pass. As of today, it's still 21+. Don't get your hopes up, especially when Brandon's still in office.
Plus any reputable company probably won't be interested in hiring an 18yo because they're too much of a liability to be worth it. Insurance for an OTR driver under 24yo is astronomically higher because they're not experienced enough and are much more likely to get in an accident.

Some OTR companies hire 18 year olds but keep them within the state they are licensed to.
