Thanks for checking out the video!
One thing I failed to make clear is that not all believers in a home must have an outside job to make money. If a family has enough resources to provide for itself, that’s all that matters. It’s all about taking responsibility for yourself and your family-and not relying on others to do what God has called you to do.

Even if you don’t have to work, being lazy is not a good life goal. Our ideas about retiring at age 65 go back to when that was the male life expectancy. Social Security was never meant to last a person for decades. We need to update our concepts of working and age.
Laziness in knowing God’s word leads to laziness across the board. Knowing truth lets us tackle these bad beliefs.

Very insightful and timely. Thank you for providing scripture that ties in the reward and need for working hard, and the reward that comes with it- and the lack of reward that comes with laziness. I'll be sure to share with my kids, too 😉. I'm part of the statistics who left their industry last year in the pursuit of something more fulfilling. So happy I did. 🙏

Great video Stephen and I appreciate all the scripture!
What do you think about the stagnation of minimum wage for over a decade while inflation remained on a steady clip of 3% annually and reports as high as 6-7% last year? Corporations reported record profits while paying essential workers as little as possible? Do you think thise corporations are leaving any dropped grain or edges of the fields for the needy? If the pandemic taught us one thing it is the importance of essential workers.
Many people are beginning to see their value and many people who quit moved on to better jobs or took control of their life in a different way such as starting their own business. The Bible is true today as it was yesterday and a lazy person will be hungry. I don't believe we are seeing a significant change in laziness. I believe people who work hard deserve to make a living wage.

Hey, Jonathan! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos.
I think my video 100% agrees with the notion “many people are beginning to see their value and many people who quit moved on to better jobs or took control of their life in a different way such as starting a new business.” I stinking LOVE stories like that. I am a firm believer that people must push themselves to do bigger, better things-whether that’s getting a raise, switching careers, or becoming a business owner.
However, I do agree with Elon Musk’s statement in the video that COVID-19 related government checks did lead people to stop working because they literally made more not working. I personally know people that “took pay cuts” when they went back to work.
Adding a few things to your last sentence would make me agree with you. I believe people who work hard [ for a full week’s work at an in-demand job ] deserve to make [ enough money to live ].
In a truly free market, things have a way of balancing out. If there are too many fry cooks (supply), then wages will drop (demand). If there are too few fry cooks, wages will increase (demand). A business can’t survive if it pays too high wages (too much overhead) and it can’t survive if it pays too low wages (no one will work there). So these people switching from low pay jobs to higher paying jobs is telling the companies they are leaving to pay more-and they will or they will die.
I know here in Texas the minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. When I see “Help Wanted” signs at DQ, Buc-ee’s, etc., they advertise their starting pay at $15, $20, and $25 per hour. That’s the market dictating a wage for an entry level position at 2x-3.5x the legal minimum wage.
Entry level jobs are just that-entry level. They are a place to get started, not a place to stay. Kudos to those folks who are moving on to bigger, better, and higher paying jobs! I celebrate that!
Concerning your first question about minimum wage v. inflation, you are right that inflation is eating away at everyone’s money. I believe that if we stopped spending like lunatics (both parties) and truly let people’s ingenuity take off, we’d have very few people making low wages. That’s a very basic answer to a very complicated issue, I know you understand that.
      Thanks for commenting!
