It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault and Johnathan Taylor Thomas' line delivery.
Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken.
Side note: Some of the character's names have meanings translated out of Swahili
    Simba: Lion
    Nala: Gift
    Mufasa: King
    Sarabi: Mirage
    Rafiki: Friend
    Pumbaa: Slow-Witted
    Zazu: Movement
    Shenzi: Savage
    Banzai: Skulk or lurk
    Taka (Scar's original name): Waste
Timon (His name actually comes from Greek): Respect or Honor

This is only a theory, but when Rafiki snatched the floating leaves and seeds from the air, he may have seen some fur when he examined them, and maybe smelled Simba's scent.
By the way, 'Asante sana', which are the first words of Rafiki's chant, mean 'thank you' in Swahili.
Mufasa couldn't defeat Scar because he wasn't expecting treachery. Simba, having experienced it, was better prepared for Scar's tricks.
Warthogs are related to pigs. By the way, Pumbaa's line 'They call me Mr. Pig!' is inspired by Sidney Poitier's line 'They call me Mr. Tibbs!' in the film 'In the Heat of the Night' (1967).

A couple of Disney recommendations (in case you haven't watched these before)
    Some more awesome music: Tarzan
    Something with action: Mulan
Something more mature/dark: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Something to make you laugh: The Emperors new Groove + Aladdin
Something that pulls at your heartstrings: Brother Bear
A true classic: Beauty and the Beast
And a recommendation for a movie from Dreamworks: The Prince of Egypt

In Swahili simba actually means "lion" but it could also mean "king" too so his name is really fitting..... The stampede scene took three years to complete, half the team was on the east coast the rest on the west... And the fear in mufasa's eyes when on that cliff wasn't for himself it was for his son because he finally realized the true lengths at which his brother was willing to go and he also knew he'd no longer be there to protect his son.... When I was younger I was sick I had cancer and I was admitted once and we were told some special people were coming to say hello well guess who walked in the room none other then Matthew Brodrick ( voice of grown Simba) and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (young Simba speaking voice) we got autographs and plushies and pictures..... But because we were so sick the entire meeting had to happen with us in our sanitized bubble room... It's a memory I have and it's very vivid something I'll never forget!!

Most of all Disney clásicc movies are all Musicals this movie came out at a time called the disney renaissance A time when Disney was in crisis and completely bankrupt since the founder of the company (Walt Disney)died back in 1967 The animators and people behind the studio no longer knew what else to do or create for the company since the mastermind behind everything had died so they began to release films that were mediocre and low quality at that time But today they are considered great clasics Disney movies to watch the movies were not generating enough profits at the box office and basically the public was already losing interest in Disney because they were no longer releasing good movies like when Walt was alive But not everything would last forever. In 1989, what would be the studio's rebirth began the animaters and new executives brought back the notion of making great movies again with deep stories and a good plot and the essence of all this was the musicals It was something very characteristic of previous Disney movies that had been lost after the crisis began back in the late 60, and 70s They decided to bring it back for this new era since they considered it to be something essential in the movies so people will connect with the protagonists and understand their motivations in the movies through music to make this story shorter, the first movie that came out of this era was The Little Mermaid. Back in 1989 It was all a success and a Hit for the studio winning all kinds of awards and nominations for good soundtrack, good animation, story, etc. With that the studio had already revived again so they began to release all kinds of successful films Beauty and the Beast in 1991 Aladdin in 1992 and then we came to 1994, which was when the Lion King came out, considered one of the most successful films of all time even to this day. this movie literally took Disney to the top in animation at that time The film has everything you would imagine , good story telling , good characters, good voice actors perfect Soundtracks Musicals score perfect animation etc..The Lion King was so successful when it came out back in 1994 Which was the highest-grossing movies in history and lasted for almost more than 20 years In that position until Disney Made frozzen tha came out in 2013... The Lion King is considered a classic that has been seen generation after generation and never gets old so just for the quality of the movie I feel like I don't have to say much. So don't feel bad because you all never saw it, believe me until today's, there are many people who still haven't seen the lion king yet And almost everyone knows something about what the movie is about 😂, but more or less I wanted to explain the story of Disney and the lion king since I notice that your"ll were a little confused and I wanted to explain a little in context.

@@Stratelier nice to see a fellow appreciator! Also glad you commented because I just reread my own and realized I put “made for tv” and not “straight to video”. Both get not theatrical across but made for tv movies tend to be particularly bad so I was actually pretty insulting when I didn’t mean to be! Figured I should correct that.

Gives me such joy to see others enjoying my favourite Disney film. I saw it first time around I was 10… this movie was HUGE when it came out and smashed loads of records and won so many awards. It was also the score that made me a life long fan of Hans Zimmer the composer. Absolutely loved it 30 years on!

If you look closely, most of the lions are drawn with their claws retracted (compare Simba pouncing on Zazu, claws sheathed, to when he swiped Shenzi with claws out), but Scar is drawn with his claws ALWAYS out -- they are never sheathed.
Based on the average lifespan of real lions, we could estimate Simba was chased out of the Pridelands somewhere between one and two years old, and spent maybe 2-3 more years in exile with Timon and Puumba. From the opening scene to its ending counterpart, the entire story probably spanned about 7 years' time.
