Thanks Sue! I’ve loved The Seekers since I was about 4 years old (1968). The first album I ever owned was ‘The Carnival is Over’ I adored Judith Durham and cried when I heard she’d passed away. ❤️🇦🇺
@JudeAussie Hey Judy, being a life long fan of the Seekers, I bet it was devastating when Judith passed. It must have been like losing a friend. They are terrific. Happy Australia Day 🤩❤️
Hi Sue, and thanks for doing this big hit from The Seekers on Australia Day ! .. It's yet another example of the consistently high quality, melodic folk / pop songs produced by this iconic Aussie group .. Happy Australia Day everyone !!!
@wayne_twentyfive You are most welcome, Wayne. It was my complete pleasure. The Seekers are so good and I am enjoying hearing more of their music. Happy Australia Day my friend 🥰💚💛
@ i was super young for Seekers although my older sister loved them. I have much better memories of The New Seekers and loved their song Beg , Steal or Borrow They did at for Eurovision 72
Ahh what a lovely song for Australia Day! My parents adored The Seekers and I have beautiful memories of music nights at home in England, my Dad would put 8 45's on our record player and I would guarantee that at least 4 of them would be The Seekers. Judith Durham had the most magical clear and pure voice.
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY down there! The Seekers were right up there with the biggest groups in the 60's and beyond. Great voice of Judith with terrific range and a soft pleasing vibrato, powerful but not overpowering. The guys were great singers and often overshadowed. The song was written by Tom Springfield. IMO, the 60's music was so varied and innovative after a lot of boring prefabricated junk like much of the "music" now, created simply to fit a market and about as exciting as last year's birds nests. The song "Massachusetts" was written for the Seekers too but somehow never got to them although they did do a lovely version in tribute when Maurice Gibb died. I love "The Carnival is Over" and "Morningtown Ride" by the Seekers. Having mentioned Judith's vibrato, would you consider reacting to "Non, je ne regrette rien" by Edith Piaf. Judith also did a song in French, "Plaisir d'amour".
@susieq9801 Omg Linda, you are reading my mind. I have Edith ready ti go soon. I just finished a reaction to her but it got blocked so should be available in a month if it clears 🥰💕
Loved it great tune. You pointed all the great things I love about the song. The Folk feel and the guitar definitely had a country vibe. Nice choice Sue.
Hi Sue!!! Great spotlight on the Seekers! Another song Sonny James shares with the Seekers is "I'll Never Find Another You". There's a great video on TH-cam with them in the studio singing it. The Seekers song I highly, highly recommend is "Morningtown Ride" (1966). It has a wonderful lullaby feel to it. In 2001 they updated the song into a Christmas song (Great for a holiday time reaction). The video I like the best is in black & white & they're on a train. Take care!!!
In 1967 the Seekers did a song written by Paul Simon "Some Day One Day " it was technically the first performance at the Sydney Opera House . The Opera House did not open till 1973 . It was under construction when they filmed the song there . Health and Safety would not allow that today. . The year before in 1966 they did the magical Morning Town Ride an Australian Children's favourite
Hey David .. I was just about to ask Sue to check out "Some Day Some Way" .. Not just because it was specifically written for them by Paul Simon, but because it's one of my very favourite songs, and one of their very best, IMHO .. The video of it from 1967, showing them at the Sydney Opera House is pretty cool .. But the video I like best is the live version from 1966 at the London Palladium .. It's fantastic.
@@wayne_twentyfive What ever version you pick you can never go wrong even their versions of American Folk country songs are fantastic , like the Wreck of The old 97
I was born in 1975 but the 60s is my favorite decade for music there was such a progression from 1959 right up to 1970.
@jodytollefson7187 Hi Jody, yes the 60s had some incredible music...what a time it must have been to live through it 🤗

The male voice my have been Bruce Woodley, writer of We Are Australian or perhaps Keith Potger. Not sure.
