I'm an Englishman. And for me, Maradonna is one of the greatest players of the game we invented. . Greater than Pele in my own opnion. Frankly, Maradona is untouchable in the modern game. The goal he scored against England is recognised by the MAJORITY OF ENGLISHMEN as one of the best goals in the televised game. That goal was sublime, skillful and out of this world. Well done Maradonna! Englishmen give RESPECT where respect is due. It was a pleasure to witness despite being on the receiving end!! You took OUR GAME to a whole new level!!

Diego wasn't the tallest players but he had huge personality , he was a warrior and he has physically tough too. In his time defenders were brutes, most knew the only knew the best way to stop you wat to injure you . Armando was the man a nation and club looked up to . no one currently playing a has the skills , talent and the heart he had. His once in generation player. he was godlike.

Could do it all, skills,tricks,dribble,pass,score and with lots of different teams and at International level in a bygone era when tackles where allowed and pitches were shocking.......Took Napoli from a second division club to win the series A and European cup and pretty much single handedly won the world Cup in 86. He had no star teammates in his sides to help him either.And this is coming from a English man..

Played in an era, in Italian, Spanish and Argentinian football, when defenders could chop you down without really too much punishment. He is a monster in the sport, and for such a small stature of a man to be so dominant on the field was amazing.
For pure football ability he's the best of all time. Messi might score more goals in a better team, but he isn't the artist that Maradona was. Deigo was a freak during his time and he'd be a freak in today's game too, that's how good he was. You should react to his freestyle and skills videos, you'd really appreciate just how mesmerising he was.

El mejor de la historia para mí, único. Capaz de hacer que jugadores profesionales dejen el entrenamiento solo para mirar lo que hacía con la pelota. No tenía ni un toque de más, era elegante por naturaleza. Siempre parecía tener 2 segundos más que sus rivales. Pique corto asesino y zurda endiablada. Pasan los años y nunca vi a nadie tocar la pelota con esa suavidad y justeza. Respiraba fútbol. Salud Diego, cuánto se te extraña.

His physique is more the traditional footballer one, like Pelé, Rooney or Gerd Muller than todays athletic machines; broad, strong, low centre of gravity hence his movenent and seemingly he was made of indiarubber and bounced right back up despite defenders trying to kick lumps out of him. His change of pace and acceleration made him a tough player to defend.
Again, your vision and appreciation is exemplary and a pleasure to watch; pretty articulate too, nice range of vocabulary.

I'am Argentinian and I love Lio but Messi, is just the right feet of Diego. Diego was unique, a lot better than anybody else in his era or not.
Facts:
1- Messi, should to slow down, to catch or receive the ball.
2- The defenders in Diego's era, were brutal and especially with him.
3- The tackles on him, were brutal and he just keep going and going without asking for red or yellow cards
4- He was not protected by the referees.
5- Maradona played as a defender, midfielder and striker because HE COULD DO ANYTHING.
6- Messi is what he is, thanks to the incredible players, that stand beside him.
7-Maradona had a stronger body, a stronger leg and was faster.
8- A lot better to pass the ball, like when he was playing in the defense zone and all of a sudden, an incredible pass to the strikers.
9-Made shitty Napoli won two cups alone.
10- He knew were all the team was and he always knew what to do with the ball.
11- The incredible tricks that you see today, Maradona was already doing them and a lot better.
