Never had a running game(1600+ yards in 08 vs Zeke 1400 in 18) never had receivers(t.o. and wit 1000+ yds in 08 vs who tf in 18) he also had a great coach to begin with & time to learn the game since he sat for 2-3 yrs b4 he had 2 be the man vs Dak being the man since day 1. @@TILIS214 Dak had a fucking team that Romo fucking built. Cowboys didnt have shit really and were rebuilding when romo stepped in....you think an old ass testaverde and Bledsoe really made a difference for Tony? Romo put the boys back on the map. That oline could block for running backs but they couldn't do much for protecting Romo and the man still got it done!!!
      Parcells groomed Tony and in return Tony saved Garrett's job every season.

      Agreed! His ability to extend the play and make key throws (while running out of the pocket and getting hit by linebackers) made him exciting to watch. He did this on a consistent basis, too. Has to be one of the toughest QBs in the NFL.

      I don't know if people think he's not tough, if so they are just yapping. Romo has had two broken backs, collarbone who knows what else. He beat the redskins for a playoff berth, hurt his back, but still made the winning TD pass with 2 seconds left. His back took months to heal after surgery.

      Aaron Rodgers? You mean the guy who now the NFL admitted it tried to match his team up with NE when Dez made the catch everyone knew he made?
      You mean Aaron Rodgers who was only able to make the throw because the same officials refused to call holding for that TACKLE by their OL on our DT that is right there on film if you are willing took at it???
      Don't get me wrong. Aaron Rodgers is good, but boy did he suck with Nelson that time.
      Rodgers will NOT be the MVP for 2018. His time is coming to a close as well.
      And Aaron Rodgers gets official protection just like Tom Brady.
      We all know that.
      He got MVP in 2014 for FAKING that leg injury.
      I pointed this out to a rival fan. I told him to watch the game.
      I told him watch how Aaron Rodgers decides when to limp.
      If he was limping that bad no way would he have been that mobile.
      He too saw it. He would run out of bounds and then he would start limping. FAKE!
      I think you might want to read up on Romo's injuries before you attribute ONE injury to him.
      Romo was playing with a back injury friend. So it wasn't JUST the collarbone injury he was dealing with in the last years of his career. That was the reason for upgrading the OL in a hurry. But on a scramble slide Romo was hit again and his back AGAIN was the issue.
      As a Romo fan I'm GLAD he retired because there comes a time when you have to say "my time has passed".
      He is married with 2 kids. He needs to be there for them.
      If he does well in broadcasting he will be fine.
      He just can't bring in any bitter feelings when covering the team.
      I believe Aikman still has that towards the team at times as if he had to be at times.
      Time moves on. Romo had his and now we have moved on. Just like Aikman, Staubach, White, etc..

    You can see here why Dallas has only 2 playoff wins for so long. It's not because of Romo as some people, especially certain "analysts" on ESPN like to say. Romo has no protection, bad running game and has to make plays while being dragged into the mud half the game.

      Yes and he almost took them farther than they ever been in 2014 but the NY office called it a no catch for Dez. Then he is out almost the entire 2015 season and now here we are with a better running back and offensive line which has been even better than 2014. When he comes back, and if he can stay healthy, then we can do damage. He finally has a BACKUP to win games for him to stay in the playoff hunt.

    • @TheAngryCanary
      @TheAngryCanary 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly... romo didn't call his protections. QB is supposed to point out the blitzes and stuff. And if guys are coming free, he's supposed to throw hot routes, etc. I've been going back and watching olf footage of romo and comparing him to dak. This is the biggest difference I've seen. Dak seems to be able to figure out the blitzes better. And zeke is a lot better in protection that murray or felix jones ever were.

    People easily forget how much of an ass kicking he took from 2009-2012. 2013 was a little better cuz of Fredrick pick and Smith moving to LT in 2012 helped too but my god he took shots like these for years. Now here is and his body has taken such a toll when he single handily kept our team afloat during those years and competitive when he finally gets the team he's needed all those years people want him gone. I mean damn talk about disrespect . I understand it's about what have you done for me lately type business but dis respect is real thing and not a lot of people have a grasp on what that is but I call it like I see it man. • @billsmith7642
      @billsmith7642 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yeah, the general public opinion of Tony Romo is absurd. The way people talk, you would think he was Ryan Leaf or something. Guy owns every Cowboys team passing record, and has done so in less time than it took the previous record holder(Aikman) to do so. The only legit argument anyone could make against him, is his lack of playoff success, although we sometimes forget that football is a team sport, and one player a team does not make. Folks like to point at his 3 consecutive 8 win seasons. Did any of those people happen to see their defense, or offensive line play those years? If anything they should credit Romo for being able to win 8 games with those teams, and stay competitive.....Anyone who wants to argue that, look no further than at what happened last year when Romo went down. Tony deserves a chance to come back and try to win a super bowl, whether it be in Dallas, or elsewhere. Right now the team seems to be gelling pretty well with the group they have now, so if they decide to stick it out with Dak, then he should get another opportunity to play for another contending team, provided he can stay healthy.

    • @teej783
      @teej783 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your comment makes no sense. Despite the fact that the Cowboys had the easiest schedule they've faced since the 90's (before the Salary Cap era), Murray's yardage in 2014 was stacked in his first 8 games. It was his fumbles that cost them Romo's first back injury against the Redskins and the Playoff win against the Packers. A good running back but not a great one. He might have down better with the current Offensive Line since this is Only Martin's 2nd year and Fredricks' 3rd. Romo made Witten. Witten looks average at best with Dak at QB. Witten was not that great of a receiver in college, especially when compared to Jay Novacek. Witten is not a clutch receiver but he was the most reliable receiver for Romo with the Wide Receivers leading the league in drops for 3 consecutive years (T.O., Roy Williams). T.O. might have won that infamous notoriety twice if Williams hadn't come to Dallas. Crayton, Ogletree, Hurd all were pretty adept at taking a sure TD and turning it into a field goal or a punt themselves.

      Now you know why JJ paid him $100M +. He was a SB winning QB on a lousy fucking team. It took JJ how many years to buy the offense JG had in mind for 10 years? 2011 man, that team could've been something. They were 7-4, riding a 4 game win streak, on track for a division title and a home playoff game with a prolific offense led by Romo, Dez, Robinson, Murray and co. Then they went and threw it all away. After this great comeback win, Dallas's next 5 games were:
    1. OT loss to Arizona (the infamous Garrett icing Dan Bailey game)
    2. 3 point loss to Giants at home (defense blew a 12 point lead in the final minutes of the 4th quarter)
    3. Win vs Tampa
    4. Loss to Philly (Romo got hurt again I believe)
    5. Blowout loss to Giants with everything on the line
    Everyone knows about the Romo playoff teams of 06, 07, 09 and 14, but of the non-playoff teams, I think 2011 was the best. They just couldn't get it done when it mattered most.
    Edit: we also have to factor in that poor game management cost Dallas wins vs the Jets and Lions early in the season, and that the defense allowed a last minute TD vs the patriots after Romo had them in position to win. This team legitimately could've been 13-3 and a top 2 seed with a couple of plays changed.

    There offensive line couldn't stop shit. Romo was always running for his life trying to make a play. If they would have had some pass protection for Romo the Cowboys would have went to the Superbowl. But Romo ended up with his collarbone broken 2 times because the offensive line sucked and Romo ended up retiring.

    Romo can throw a beautiful ball ; hot and on target.
    This tells the story of Romo's career with the Cowboys. He was always making plays happen with guys either hanging on him or dragging him down; he often had to run for his life to make a play.
    I am glad Free is gone; how many drives did he kill because of penalties?
    Anyone who wants to badmouth Romo needs to see film like this in which he played better than those around him because he willed himself to. Gee....why was he injured so badly??? Yep, those shitty lines; Smith couldn't block them all.

      The two most important measures of a passing QB are yards per attempt and TD/int ratio. Romo has best all-time for Dallas QBs and #4 all-time NFL QBR and as we can see from this game he did most of it without a decent O-line or receivers.

      Not a Cowboys fan, just a neutral party. Never listen to a Cowboys radio broadcast in my life. My opinion is only based on an 8 minute clip on youtube in which he comes off bad. It just annoyed me because Romo is playing great and the dude makes it sound like he's shitting the bad and getting lucky on every play, which is especially bad for a radio broadcast because people listening to him can't actually see what's happening themselves.

    Romo had a better coach as a rookie in Bill Parcells, he also had 7 pro bowlers on his rookie team including Julius Jones(1,000 yd rusher)...bottom tier?, Terry Glen & T.O.(both 1,000 yd receivers), Jason Witten(24 yrs old, 754 yds pro bowl), 2 pro bowl lineman Flozell Adams & Andre Gurode(even our Oline coach now, Marc Columbo), Chris Canty, Marcus Spears, Bradie James, and D-Ware(pro-bowl) all under 25, Roy Williams(pro bowl). Sounds like a great start for a rookie to me...
    His 2nd yr they went 13-3, he had an even better QB coach to teach him the game in Wade Wilson, Marion Barber rushed for 975 off 204 attempts and had 10 TDs!!! Oh & Julius Jones still had 588 and 2 TDs to help out just a lil bit lol😂
    T.O(1,355 yds) & J Wit(1,145 yds) made 1st team All pro & the Pro Bowl, both having over 1000 yds, 3 pro bowlers on his Oline(Adams, Gurode, Davis)...Bottom tier😕, his "bottom tier" defense had 19 ints for 331 yards and 2 TDs along with 18 FF with 26 recovered and 46 sacks, D Ware made 1st team All-Pro giving Dallas 3 1st team all pro players around Romo with 11 total making the Pro-Bowl, Tony Romo had 36 Tds that year, but he threw 19 ints.
    His 3rd year was 26 tds, 14 ints.... 1000 yd receiver again in T.O.(1,052) and J Wit(952), his rbs put up 1600+ yards, although the defense only had 8ints, they had 17FF with 27 Fumbles recovered & 59 sacks. His team wasn't the problem. His 1st playoff game he only had 1 td & lost 2 fumbles bringing our total to 4 for the game smh. His 2nd playoff game...18/36 for 201 a td and a pick(64.7) aint gone cut it, the running game was there with Barber goin 27/129, he did have a fumble, but Romo recovered it, Romo threw a late int sealing the fate of the game. He aint Dagoata Prescott🐐
