hi cleave. I just saw the video of the polymer cubes, and of the aluminum ones, I tell you my experience, and my study about it: when I returned to the hooby, 10 years ago, I started (that was used at that time.) the cubes polymer. After a while (quite a long time. Let's say about 8 years.) I discover ewl aluminum cube. the question is, that the rubber always broke, on the outside. Then I asked the boy, who is the one who organizes the championship of the year, and he tells me that it is because of the blows that are given on the railings of the track, but the truth is I did not believe him. I felt that was not why the tires broke. I have a friend who is a turner, and I asked him to make me two (2) a pair (bring him a sample.) of aluminum jackets. I brought them in, and WOW !!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN WAS ANYONE BROKEN, AND THAT WAS WHAT I DISCOVERED. ? that the polymer cubes, being soft and the G12 cars go very fast, in the curves, they bite badly, that's why they broke. When I started testing the aluminum hubs, I never broke a wheel again. the race ends, or it ends because it is no longer useful for running, (that is, a new one must be started.) I bring them out healthy. that's why in my opinion. (for me) the aluminum ones are better. And that's when I told my friend the turner to make me 50 pairs, and I'm happy because of the performance of the wheels. And where I run, everyone uses the polymer cubes. well I hope it was understood. Greetings and congratulations, from Argentina for the videos.
Thank you for your story. It is interesting to hear other people’s experiences. I have not found an issue with the rubber tearing on the outside except in 1/32 Formula One where the tyre is very low profile on the hub due to the small diameters (15mm) we run on those cars. Also some types of rubber are softer and can tear at the edges more easily. Did you test the same size aluminium hubs against the same size polymer hubs?
I race wing cars, retro cars and scale cars on king tracks and flat tracks. I use magnesium hubs on wing cars and use different types of hubs on retro and scale cars depending upon track conditions. I have an assortment of tires for each slot car and use lap times to determine what works the best. The wing car tires can make noise and this tells me the tires are too hard. I thank you for your hub video,
Thank you for commenting. I have not raced a wing car in anger but it has to be the purest form of slot racing. Everything has to be perfect as the driving is more about avoiding accidents. I know some wing car racers use aluminium hubs with holes drilled in them.
@@CleaveTech I race G7 slot cars and all of my tires have magnesium hubs with holes drilled everywhere. The cars can run in the 1.5 second range on a 155 foot king track and reducing weight is extremely important. I use armatures with hollow shafts!
Hello, your videos are excellent! My English is very bad, do you know if it is possible to have a translation of the subtitles in French when you post a video? Thank you
Very interesting, thanks

@@johnwakamatsu3391 , great info. I didn’t know the armatures had hollow shafts!
@@CleaveTech The G7 car is the only wing car class that allows hollow armature shafts. The hollow shafts are custom ordered.

Thank you Tonio. I think the subtitles are generated automatically. Can you select a subtitle language?
