I had no idea slot car racing was so serious. Very fascinating!

First off CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I really enjoy all of your videos.... (even as a drag racer!) I've raced karts, cars, slot cars (both road and drag) and it is your attention to detail that stand you above and beyond. To give back to the sport/hobby is essential far too many hide their cars in the box. We race to be raced. Thank you!

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching. Glad you love the videos.
We don’t have much of a Drag Racing scene in the UK. Hopefully we will have a Drag Strip at the National slot car centre in 2023 🤞.
As you say, we need people to race against so the more people that can build a car and go racing, the better 👍🏻

Well done James. Some questions about the front tyres. I noticed they had a reverse cone shape. Would be unusual for them to wear like that. So did you grind them like that deliberately? They had toe out, was that wear or deliberate? And lastly you dont super glue the foam tyres for a hard finish? Not allowed or doesnt work?

Thank you Fabio. Apologies the time taken to reply, but here we go…
The front tyres have not worn like that, it is intentional. The rules say they have to be a certain width, but they don’t need to touch the track across the whole of their width. The foam is quite hard but does squash slightly. The cars seem to perform better with the foam front tyres rather than using hard front tyres. Maybe the foam front tyres help to absorb some vibrations from the track which are not cancelled out by the higher downforce bodies used in the other classes?
The picture/video looks a little like there is some toe out, but there isn’t. The front wheels are fractionally angled (cambered) within the tolerance of the rules.

Will received a 2 lap penalty during the semi for a invalid track call, I think, which made it a really close race for the final transfer spot into the main.

Thanks Justin. You are totally correct and well remembered. It is often hard to remember what actually happened when you are so focussed on the next stage.

Raivis - strip’d gear in semis

Thanks Raivis. F1 gears can run fine and look fine, then suddenly decide to strip teeth just because they can 😂. It is always hard to come back from any sort of failure or problem at this level of racing but congratulations on being a current double World Champion! 👏 👏.
