Welcome to another episode of Dark Souls Lore featuring Havel's journey in Lordran. From fighting the Ancient Dragons, to being a Bishop of the Way of White on behalf of Gwyn, to his role in the plot against the Gods, Havel's lore is one of the most interesting in the game.
In this episode we aim to present more of a storyline narrative, because to make an epic Havel only video can't stick purely to item descriptions! If you want to delve into the details behind many of the ideas presented here be sure to check out our other videos that cover his lore here:

Hey everyone! We hope you like this different style. We know we have done Havel in a literal, analytical way before, so this time we have made it a story of legend! Some parts are what we think is most likely to have happened, but our imagination had to be involved to make this the most entertaining possible! If you want to watch the detailed lore behind Havel's story, check out our videos on him here:

I like this style. Already subscribed but I'll subscribe again if you do more videos like this.
Loved the style! The extra bits to come up with a full story made it great.
I agree with the others. You have a knack for weaving an informative narrative!
amazing work as always
Awesome, as ever. I particularly love the idea that Domhnall betrayed them for Avelyn which is a theory I've held for quite awhile now.
He really is *poised* to make a name for himself.
I see what you did there....but he should have leveled ADP.
HAHAHAHAHA
Rock solid argument
Waaahaaahaaahaa
I feel he will certainly join with an exclusive club.
Havel's armour always intrigued me. It is so iconic while always feels so bizarre. Like something is wrong with it. Then I understand what was Infront of me all this time. The chains. His hands are chained, his shoulders are chained, his hips area chained. Even in later ages of DS2 and 3 this details always there. Then I remember a nifty item and its peculiar explanation in DS3; Prisoner's Chain : "A prisoner is one who has staked everything on a belief, a proclivity most apparent in the greatest of champions." What this item gives ? Well, 5 Vigor, 5 Endurance, 5 Vitality.
I never made the connection, that's cool
Perhaps you should take another look at the armor then, especially the description. The armor was never worn by Havel himself, only by his warriors. There is more pointing towards Havel being an everlasting dragon than something similar to his warriors.
@@JohnDoe-sq5nv I get that the description says worn by "followers of Havel" but then why would we find a set called "Havel's armor" in Anor Londo next to an occult club? Why would he be called Havel "The Rock"? It seems to be more accepted the armor was made in likeness to his.
@@Sylph_C0 I mean if he was an everlasting dragon, it would make sense that he was called "The Rock". Also, it could be called "Havel's Armor" because it's an armor made to resemble his characteristics, or even just because it's the armor that his followers wear. Think of it as in monster hunter, you can wear "Rathalos' Armor", but Rathalos isn't a warrior. And the occult club, well, if it's armor was worn by followers of him, would it be so strange that next to a warrior's armor there's a weapon?
@@Sylph_C0 Exactly as whitedrake6933 says. The armor set explicitly states that Havel's Set was worn by his warriors. Either we care about the item descriptions or we don't and feel free to make up our own "lore". Adding to that, the Havel Knight that we do find and fight in Dark Souls is also wearing Havel's ring. It's item description is:
"This ring was named after Havel the Rock, Lord Gwyn's old battlefield compatriot.
Havel's men wore the ring to express faith in their leader and to carry a heavier load"
And similar in Dark Souls 3. Meaning that there are:
1. Multiple rings
2. They are worn by his knights.
Multiple rings definitively means multiple armor sets, which is also consistent with the fact that we find several Havel Knights across the trilogy. With two of them showing up in Dark Souls 2.
It makes more sense if Havel's following was some draconic sect considering the fact that they wear equipment coming from dragons and that resemble something rock-like. Reminds me quite a lot of those who collect dragon scales to become more dragon like.
"Dragon scale for reinforcing dragon weapons. Peeled from an ancient dragon.
A dragon is inseparable from its scales, and the transcendent apostles, who seek the perpetuity of the ancient dragons, have crossed the very end of the earth to seek this invaluable treasure."
No matter, pointing out one single Havel Knight and calling him "Havel" is at best hilariously inconsistent with the lore we are given. At worst an intentional omission of known facts to fit the chosen narrative.
Every dark souls 1 playthrough always ends up as a Havel cosplay for me somehow. I've tried doing dex and magic multiple times but the stone calls to me
No other build beats the satisfaction of becoming a giant weapon wielding monster capable of killing most enemies with a few blows (and sometimes with even just one).
I feel ya. I can’t get away from str so I know that feeling of trying other ways just to be called back to the one love you can’t leave 😂
You may be a dwarf
Same here. Havel armor is just too awesome. I beat the game because of that armor
Rock and Stone brother
Silver knight Ledo with his 60STR Hammer: "Havel? Oh yeah that guy! Cool dude, he seems pretty chill..."
Ledo have higher damage output while Havel got higher endurance with slightly lower damage output, It is stated that Ledo had lost to Havel in a duel in a manga I have read
edit: after re-read it I found that Ledo said it himself that his and havel’s strength is equal
@@xenozethe was it a canon manga or a joke manga like road to erdtree?
@@whatsnewbois9814 type “Dark Souls The war of the ancient dragon manga” and you should be able to find it, the manga it self not a joke like road to the eardtre, the story told you about what happen in the war against the ancient dragon and there is this story telling you about Ledo vs Havel duel
@@whatsnewbois9814 Dark Souls the war of the ancient dragon is the name of the manga and no, it is not a joke manga
@@xenozethe not an official canon manga but one with passion and good faith, praise the fandom \[T]/
It's really funny to imagine Havel seeing Seath in public and just blatantly ignoring him while Seath is trying to say hi
The ninja Havel clip was on-point when mentioning the fear he strikes in those who face him 😂
HAVEL FLIPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
First experience with Dark Souls, opened the door and started down. Saw message on the ground that said "Imminent Tears" and 5 seconds later Havel flattened me with one hit. Bro is such a bad ass, in all 3 games.
That 98 defense chestplate hit different
My first experience I spent about 2 hours on him before leaving to do more story and have upgraded weapons, came back and beat him in 2 tries. Currently on my 3rd run of the game doing a Wolverine character (Claws weapon in both hands) and I annihilated Havel with parried and backstabs first time, kinda felt bad
Just one man, a stone suit, and a giant tooth and shield; powered by hate. Legend.
He really is the definition of THE *WALL*
THE WALL, THE WALL, THE WALL
NO MAN ON EARTH CAN MAKE YOU FALL
Rogal Dorn and Mark Henry are proud
“Wake up babe, a new Hawkshaw lore video just dropped”. The ATLA music is also very fitting.
On my first playthrough, whenever I collected something from Havel, I put it on! I just loved the idea of being a man, knowing everyone around you is using their faith and intelligence to come up with new kinds of attacks. But you? You push through, a simple method put through perfection making you one of the biggest assets of an enourmous army. Thank you for the video Hawkshaw !!
I can appreciate the hell out of the mindset, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like it’s also unfair to paint Havel as some oaf who only knew how to rely on his strength, he also showed signs of having very high faith. He CREATED two very powerful miracles in order to combat (or rather nullify) magical power. Even if he relied mainly on his strength, to say he completely ignored using his faith on the battlefield is a little too far I feel like. The miracles may not have been his most powerful asset, but they were specifically mentioned to be a part of his arsenal, so his use of them was at least somewhat apparent to the people around him if it survived history as long as it has.

FTH + STR builds truly are GOATed
My favorite Dark Souls character!
Havel the GOAT
I really liked the theory that the armor, shield, ring, and club are only for Havel’s knights and Havel was a dragon. Seems like a real From thing to do.
The club is described as Havel's club, what dragon wields a dragon tooth as a great hammer. God some theories are so cherrypicked and dumb
@@orionstokesweiss2344 I can see why you think that and you’re more likely right than wrong, but there’s enough wiggle room. Maybe they can retcon it for the remake.
@@nottwo There is enough wiggle room? The only humanoid dragon is an abberation, the club is quite literally described as his weapon, and the shield is as well. If that is enough wiggle room I think we have enough wiggle room to theorize that Napolean was actually Chinese. Meaning that every piece of evidence points directly to the contrary, but maybe!
@@nottwohaha I like that theory!

There’s a lot of great lore channels out there but Hawkshaw really catches the vibe. Love it.
I’ve been playing these games since Demon’s Souls but I always stayed away from lore channels so I could have my own perspective. Some one insisted I watch an old Hawkshaw video about DS and I was blown away. What other lore channels would you recommend? I’ve seen Vaati of course. Great footage and good scripts/voice acting but I’m not crazy about his lore theories sometimes. I’ve seen Smoughtown, very logical and academic. Love his theories but presentation isn’t the focus. Love Sinclair lore for Bloodborne stuff. Just found tarnished archeologist and really like it. Any recommendations from here?
@@Tstorm731 those are some great ones, another one I’d check out is “The Brothers Code” Hope you enjoy!
As an avid DS1 pvper, there was few enemies that could “send a chill of fear down my spine” the back flipping Haval players were def one of those. I saw what you did there lol. Even if you were more skilled then they, it was such a chore to kill them. Hp, and poise for days.
holy fuck the broken arch tree really got me. Hawkshaw my brother, please never go hollow on us. ❤
I started play dark souls a few weeks ago and got interested in the lore and for the last few days I've been binging his videos. The timeline and then the video about Havel and the next day he drop a new one. Sick
Carry on, fine work young hollow
Havel is my favorite souls character because of all your lore videos, the hour and a half Occult one in particular. Your content never fails to impress, and thank you for your contributions to the souls community!
When I see Hawkshaw you have no idea how much joy I have
Bull Goat Armor, Fingerprint Shield, Fallingstar Beast Jaw...when I want to roleplay as Havel in Elden Ring.
Please never stop doing dark souls 1 videos, I love this game so much
"For his own good, of course" I really love that line for some reason.
"the thought of fighting him still sends fear down the spine"
**shows flipping Havel*
185 views now... I always appreciated your efforts to make an epic lore and connect the mysterious spots in Dark Souls...You are great Hawkshaw.
Me and my brother's favorite theory when playing ds1, our first fromsoft game, was that the havel in the tower was not the real havel but one of his knights and hes still out there hunting dragons like a boss. In fact when we met a havel knight next to dead dragon in ds3 we starting screaming "WE FOUND HIM! HES STILL ALIVE!" It was the most peak moment for us in the series
Wow, I love all of your video's but this format in particular caused me to really feel and connect to Havels story on an emotional level, wonderfully done!!
Flipping Havel isn't real and he can't hurt you.
Thats what i tell myself every night to go to sleep
Havel: The Rock, The Myth, The Legend.
Man, this video is so well made, the production value is amazing, the slow panning scenic shots, just beautiful
This is an amazing video! It’s like a prequel to your plot against the gods vid!
Since i saw your videos back in the day 5 years ago i fell in the rabbit hole of FS lore videos, Havel and the plot against the gods was my favorite video and pretty much got hooked to your content and when i felt that you halted your uploads for a time and noticed that you begun to make Elden Ring videos i could not do anything to not feel a bit nostalgic to think that you would redirect your atention to only ER but look, here we are 5 years later with more souls content, better than ever. Thank you for all your content, the intensity, passion and atention that is poured in your content is pretty much what makes most of us so immersed in these vast universes
I love this interpretation of Havel's lore, especially how it ties into Domhnall the Trickster and Eidas the Crystal Knight.
OMG, Havel is a Monster Hunter character! It all makes sense now.
Havel hammer main 💪🏿
The absolute chad of DS.
Havel "the Rock" johnson
Dwayne Havel Johnson👀
Havel is truly the GOAT
the bull-goat
great insight on world connection beetween ash lake and nito’s domain, loved the video!
Havel is just built different.
Very much enjoyed this video on Havel! So well thought out & narrated suspensefully. Great work!👍
I eat these videos up and watch them over and over. This is art
An excellent new direction for the channel. Keep it up hawkshaw
Whenever you guys upload it always makes me have more faith for midterms or exams in general
hearing this reminds me of new prepare to crys dropping back in the day. i lived for this stuff back then. its crazy how vibrant the souls community continues be over all these years. great work dude 🤙
Dude… you never miss. You have shaped my understanding of the characters and lore from this game so much. Domhnall, Havel, The Chaos Demons, The Way of White, Eidas, Seigmeyer, Lautrec… because of your analysis my entire understanding of the game feels so much deeper and I respond to characters so differently than I did originally. You didn’t change my mind about Seath though. He’s still a crystal arsehole.
always a pleasure to see new content this story time style is very welcomed! i was on the edge of my seat despite knowing the outcome, amazing as always
Thanks! Excellent lore video as always.
Two and a half minutes in and you've become my new favorite lore presenter. Awesome style, I'm super impressed!
amazing video i have stumbled on, i hope to see more cinematic videos like this in the future
Incredible work bro
the direction for the tomb ambush was so masterfully tense oh my
Well done sir I was fully engaged by the visuals and story. Well done
You are a great story teller. Well done!
Literally the best edited Hawkshaw video in my opinion
Perfect way to spend the last 25 mins at work, another banger bro🔥
i really enjoy your videos and would love to see more of your works
I always love the storys/legends you guys make for the characters
Make? Isn't it in-game lore?
@@olgagaming5544 it's just a theory
A game theory but yeah some of it is concrete but the rest is assumptions on item descriptions and stuff like that but most of it is believed to be true
@@olgagaming5544 No, it is not. This is basically fanfiction.
@@JohnDoe-sq5nv Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat............. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
@@JohnDoe-sq5nv I believe these are accurate, right assumptions actually
Given that Havel was one of the gods per Great Magic Barrier's japanese description and not a bishop, Gwyn probably shared his soul with him like with the rest of the gods, as stated by Gwyn's soul. It also means that all the speculation relating to the woman holding the White Seance Ring falls apart.
Love the vids man! 🤙👍
Fantasic video. I often forget just how amazing Havel was. I thought that Havel reminded me of Radhan, but it's clearly the other way around.
Another banger lore video
Love these so much. Also i love how you still use fire emblem music
i just discovered your chan and i must say am really impressed and i wish one day you make a video about the furitive pygmi
I feel like Havel was once the size of the Iron Golem or Smough. But he probably harassed some maiden somewhere and Gwynn went into damage control and banished him to the bottom of that tower. And banned his Twitter account.
This is a magnificent story and you've told it really well! The twists and tragedy! I outwardly shouted "no!" at the battle of the arch tree! Wow!
love watching these
Oh yes. Well done as always, Hawkshaw.
We all know that the real Chad of Dark Souls is Havel.
"Solaire è un merdone" a quote for a few...
Porcoiddio! **Clap clap clap** diocanediocanediocane
I’ll be looking forward to watching this tonight when I wake up!!!
Omg using ninian’s ost during his lover part hits so hard.
Havel The Rock: pancakes you with his overhead swing
Dwayne The Rock Johnson: Famously eats stacks of pancakes during cheat meals.
Coincidence? I think not, my friends
Considering he is in all 3 dark souls games or at least the armor and weapons he wears/ has I'd say he did a grand job.
Has any lore master had the courage to ask for it may make them hollow, Is havels ring a ring for the finger or something far more, Abyssal.
I love this story. I could see this being a comic or something.
Excellent video as per usual. I wonder if Seath's experiments were to try to figure out how to procreate or create replicas of dragons?
Hawk, you're grea mt. You put out great content. Thank you!!!!!
Can you smellelelelelelllooo what Havel is cookin'?
Hell yeah another Havel vid
New Hawkshaw Video? Equivalent to the elden ring dlc for me.
Hackshaw and Vaati releasing videos within 24 hours of each other? Praise the lore!!
Imagine you're havel, travel to anor Londo to get your equipment back and it's all gone because a random undead found it
lol
Havel didn't Havel a Lavel Savel.
He only haveld a will of Stone.
I am impressed beyond words. 😮 he took every whereabout of spells and rings and stuff into account without the need to prove or Show stuff. Not even the true corpse of his love holding the ring. If you know you know. I remember how impressed i was when i first heard about the destroyed path from past the first black knight in the undead burg right to her cell. This is like a collection of all the wildest theories and a lot of truth we were able to make up on Our own to now not only making real sense in a complete way but making a complete side note into like maybe the most important part of the entire story. I am honestly blown away
I loved the video about havel. I think he's interesting character and no many people care about him. and I'm happy to watch a lore video about him.
We need a Giant Dad lore video.
A hearty rock and stone to this true warrior
Domhnall being the one to sell the rebellion out is new to me after all these years. I'll have to rewatch your original rebellion video in case i missed something. Is there any posts you can direct me too that expand on his reasons?
Keep up the excellent content as always 👍
We've got a video dedicated to Domhnall himself!
