I received an error message when accessing Windows Media Player on my Win7 PC. Message reported Server execution failed I followed your instructions twice but both attempts failed to resolved the problem. Have you any other suggestions. Regards PRoss
After trying this multiple times, along with the dll tweaks through CMD prompt, I still get this message. I'd like to have it working again, but for now have to use VLC player.
How do you do the song Windows 7 because I right click on the Windows 7 icon and I didn't have the file explorer choice can you walk me through it so I can back up what I need to and then fix the file execution server problem in the media
i did everything like you brian but at the part where we tick the wmp to turn it off the little windowd features box is blank theres nothing to tick idk what to do :/
when i try to enable media features, it says "an error has occurred. not all features were successfully changed" when i reboot, it stays disable again. help? win7 sp1 ultimate 64bit
Microsoft Support told me that turning Windows Media Player off won't affect any install files or reinstall the software. It will just turn it off, not remove or reinstall it. Did they lie to me?
Noah Wiebers Backing content up is not always necessary, but its something I do just to be safe. The wmp files are not deleted as far as I know, so Microsoft did not lie to you. Turning it off and on sometimes fix's a lot of issues. I sure it will rebuild wmp files when turned back on. I have posted other fix's in my description if this don't work.
i know this is a new OS, but it is really pissing me off, my audio quality is low when it shouldn't, i'm using windows 10, i use realtek audio drivers and HD audio drivers from NVIDIA, and with windows 7 it worked perfectly, even after re-installing everything, i still have issues. please help.
***** it isn't an issue with the os, as i've fixed most of this issue already via re-installing sound drivers over and over again, just gotta wait on an update, as i'm not the only one with this issue.

Sound systems that dont work, even when all drivers and windows seems fine. I have tryed updating drivers, uninstalling drivers, uninstalling all parts of the sound system, registry fixing, jumping up and down with a carrot on my head ha ha :-D Replacing the registry with an earlier copy often fixes silly annoying problems, i know its heavy handed but i do get pissed off with silly faults :-( Ooow ive been farting about with bcd settings again, most programs seem limited, ive found BootIce works really well for phantom fiddlers like myself, have you tryed it?
I found a solution that I read and it worked for me. I am posting it in case someone finds it useful. There are 2 "windows media player" files. One inside the Program File (x86) (32 bit) and the other in the Program Files (64 bit). Usually the corrupted file is in 32bit version. (You can check it trying to click "wmplayer exe" and watch in which version works.) Then 1) Rename the Windows Media Player folder in Program File (x86) to whatever you want and 2) Copy the Windows Media Player folder from the Program Files (64 bit) folder and paste into Program File (x86) folder. And IT FIXED... I have no idea if there will be any future problems after this solution.

According to what I can dig up on the internet, It seems that Microsoft shut down the servers.

I forgot to copy the files does it really matter? I don't use media player for music or stuff just to preview videos on my pc (oh and it did not work)
