In addition to being the proud grandpa, I got to try out the new California King and Helix mattress. I am also 6’5” and found the mattress to be extremely comfortable. And by the way, this will be our first granddaughter after 5 grandsons!

Had some sugar maple milled from a tree that we had to cut to make room for our garage. We then air dried the lumber for a couple years. My dad and I built a king size bed out of it two winters ago in the garage that was built in it's place. The bed looks a lot like the one you built. Great video. Brought back lots of good memories.

There are few things more rewarding for me than to see the recipients happy with them. You two did a fine job building that bed. You should be rightfully proud of it. I’d give you three thumbs up if I had another hand 👍👍

Brought back memories of asking my older brother, whom had taken up woodworking as a hobby, to build me a sleigh bed that I had found in my woodworking magazines I read for fun! He built me a beautiful queen bed out of oak-my favorite wood! And, gifted me with a matching armoire for Christmas the next year! Didn’t get around to the bedside tables due to his needless death by a drunk driver. That was in 2004, still miss him AND his talent! Still love my bed,but thinking of refinishing it this year. this used to be make a rack and cut some firewood for the side of the road kind of channel. Make a sign and see how much is stolen. Making a very awesome bed now with incredible lumber. Very much my kind of thing. Well done!!

I’m 6’3” and I feel your pain with feet hanging out of the bed. I can lengthen the bed easily by replacing the side boards but the problem was that mattresses that are non-standard sized were crazy expensive. What I ended up doing was to buy a foam packer (from eBay) that was the same depth and width of the mattress and have it about 10 inches tall. That way I could position this under the pillows so there was no noticeable join along my body. It’s been working great for a number of years. 👌
Cool too see those guys logging with a cable skidder i log the same way you don't see them much around Pa anymore since the grapple skidders came along..
