Thank the gods for this video my car just got stuck like 300 miles away from my house every tow truck company I called to get it back to the house was charging between $500 to 2500 I grabbed the U-Haul and it costs only 300 for the truck and the trailer talk about a lifesaver😬 and yes we did push it up the rep by hand
Aye that's crazy I'm in the exact same situation 😭. My Volvo 240 sputtered out 300 miles from home and now I am getting a truck and trailer to go collect it.
I need to move and bring a vehicle along soon. I thought this would give me more confidence in towing a vehicle. It didn't. Now I am even more convinced to drive my truck for the move, then fly back and drive the car separately.
Observe at 2:38 the mechanism of suspension with vehicle crossmember tied to control arm at pivot close to vehicle centerline and separated by coil spring at vehicle left. When the vehicle moves up and down from road bumps the two members together will open and close like jaws. Should something resist this action by getting between these members the momentum of the downward travelling vehicle will have greater leverage over the resisting structure as the structure gets closer to the pivot. The chain, where placed, could conceivably move toward the pivot during upward vehicle motion and try to prevent subsequent downward vehicle motion, with great mechanical disadvantage, resulting in significant deformation of the control arm and/or crossmember. Then move back to 2:30 and think hard about the crossmember this chain is wrapped around. Should upward vehicle motion cause the chain to hit it's length limit, would the crossmember, attaching bolt and subframe be able to to deal with the resulting shock load without bending and/or breaking?
Sorry man; sometimes I wonder a little why nobody likes me, other times I don't wonder at all (: Let me try again: Here the chain is in a potential pinch point, here the crossmember doesn't look very strong.
I went to uhaul. They printed me an entire book. Nowhere in that book did it mention how to secure the vehicle im hauling to the transport. Instead it said things like " if you lose control, dont speed up".
U-Haul has the best trailers. They have a 5 by 9 with large steel side walls that I just love to rent because it's so much better and safer than anything I have found on the private market. It's a bummer that their trailers are all in house and not for sale to the public. Even when they reach end of life they get recycled by U-Haul and never sold publicly.
