Just fixed my 09 2.5 rabbit today.
Changed throttle body, fuel filter, cam sensor, and all the plugs. The culprit? Yep, crank sensor. I replaced it.
Runs better than ever now.

Symptoms: stalled twice while driving, hard to start, no acceleration. I'd gas it while in neutral and it couldn't go more than 3000 rpm. Epc light came on in the beginning, then two days later check engine light came on, in addition to the EPC .
After changing crank sensor, EPC light is gone. For the check engine light that remained on, I disconnected negative battery cable.
All good now. Hope this helps.
No way in hell i was gonna throw my money to a vw dealership to try and fix it.
( ya gotta remove the plastic protection cover from underneath the front end of the car first. It's held in place with hex screws)
you changed all of that to see wich one was the failuere or you HAD to change all that?
My epc light is on my car won't start we replaced battery and throttle system I have a 08 Jetta I'm dieing w no car do I think this is the problem? It won't start cranks just won't start
I really like the way u teaching us how to fix this.
I suggest doing a capacitive discharge of the car battery before changing out parts. Disconnect both battery terminals, starting with the ground - (negative), connect both connection leads with a jumper wire for at 1 minute. Reconnect both battery terminals, hopefully that helps.

Alright, dude. I did the deed, and we have ignition! Thank you! Lessons learned. The 4mm hex stripped on me 🤬🤬🤬 I took an 8mm socket and hammered over the bolt. I had to use two 8mm, one for each bolt.

Hey I have a 2013 vw cc similar problem no crank no start is stalled at a stop sign batts good new starter the codes are common but theres a starter code electronic or mechanical problem
My comment is my 2001 VW BEETLE died on the freeway and hasn't started since on the dash it shows check engine light and battery light and the EPC LIGHT. Does this situation cause your car to die and then no start and will this process help with my situation?

I replaced the sensor and it cleared then it put out another code camshaft sensor replaced both all codes clear the mx808 says no codes but still won't start eco still on and check engine light. What next 2008 beetle 2.5l I am lost here.
I just changed my throttle body, gasket cover, spark plugs and a coil cover. The difference was night and day. I drove it for an evwning. Then i decided to take the negative off battery to see if the code lights would be rest. Instead, the car now just cranks and no turnover. While cranking, there are zero RPMs showing. I did notice prior to doing the bit of work the car would crank longer than normal and then start. I even had to pump the pedal once or twice to get things strted. Of course now im dead in the water. Im going to replace the cranfshaft sensor as shown in your video. I hope this is my problem. I have a 2008 VW Jetta 2.5L thanks
I have same issue didthis work for u? We replaced the spark plugs throttle body and battery so far
this is quiet helpful , my golf5 does the same thing of showing EPC light and looses power , sometimes starts jerking. i will replace the sensor. thank you.
If you can get a scan on it, that would be more precise, but idk how much this sensor runs XD It may be cheaper to try it.

Hello my 2014 beetle 2.5L just hit the 60+k and today the EPC light came on car running ok but sometimes on acceleration I hear a slight gurgling noise I've had it over a year now no more on the warranty I hope it not major any hints I got my oil changed so other then that oh the inspect notice comes on but I understand that comes on after so many miles?

Hi deamon. I have a 2007 Audi A4. My EPC Light has come on a couple times in the last two months but if I turn the car off and on, it’ll go away. The two times it has come on, the car had a rough start. Do you think this’ll fix me up?

2012 VW GTI. EPC & Engine light on. Cranks but won't start, however it will push start (6speed). Feels like it's lacking power when accelerating. Hesitant to accelerate with A/C on. Dropped it off at the VW dealer ($150 to run diagnostics wtf) on 8/18/17 and I'm waiting on a call back. Any thoughts? I'll keep yall posted on what happens.

Transfer the cable shield that was on the Original wire, to the new one Before installing new sensor!
Is the crankshaft position sensor and the crankshaft engine/speed sensor the same thing?

That's very little information, but do you have any scan codes? Could be crankshaft sensor, or throttle body also. There are still many many possibilities, but that's my "most common" fixes list.
I have a 2007 Audi 2.0t sline and I just bought it. Drove it maybe 50 miles and the EPC Light is on as well as check engine. Had Napa auto parts clear the engine light (EPC did not turn off) but engine light came right back on. Codes showing are: P0304 - cylinder 4 misfire, P0100 - mass or volume air flow circuit, 2 codes P0171 - fuel metering Too lean , P2294 - Fuel pressure regulator 2 control circuit. Was fine when I test drove and also short time after. Then I realized the person I bought it from let the oil level go super low and then the car threw the EPC light. I’m stuck. Was told the VAG-COM obd2 code reader is better then then the Napa auto ones due to the fact you can fix issues? Is it worth it or should I take it to a mechanic. I’m not rich. And I feel like this is gonna cost me an arm and a leg. I am car savvy tho. Have worked on race motors but Chevy. No German cars but I figure I gotta push myself right. Haha. Hi there, I'm having trouble with my 08 Jetta City, the car was working perfectly fine yesterday but this morning it just didn't want to start. There is no crank, and no start. Dash lights that turn on are EPC, Engine Light and battery light (before it didn't have any of these lights on). The sound it makes is just a click. It's not the battery, I already tried to jump start it, it is very strange. Is this the same thing that happened on this vehicle? I haven't checked the sensors yet so i'm hoping that the sensor is the problem. Was working perfectly fine last night. Please let me know, thanks!

Thanks for your reply, I put it on Neutral and it started and then the car started working again. But the problem hasn't been fixed, because this morning the same thing happened and again I placed it on neutral and works fine and after that I just turn it on on park no problem. Very strange...we'll see tomorrow morning.

greetings friend I have a problem with my vw jetta 2.5l 2006 I do not know if it is the crank sensor or the starter the problem is that in the morning I'm on my way to work in the car as always and when I go out of my shift the car did not want to start for anything and did not start when the key entered the switch and pressed the clutch pedal and turned the key heard a sound inside the car click to click that is the only thing that does nothing else and my car does not have any problem of mechanics and neither had the check engine light on or the epc check all the fuses and are in perfect condition and the battery is new only takes 6 months in the car which of the 2 things could be the starter or the crank sensor ? I hope you can help me and thanks in advance!
Starter is the mostly likely. Tap it with a broom handle while you try to crank it, should spin over.
I have a 2010 Audi a5 cabriolet. replaced a 6 year old battery after the car failed to start or jump start. All lights are on with the new battery except the car will not turn over. it just cranks only and I now have a check engine light on and ECP light on. Frustrated! Please help! the Dealer Scares Me!
I have a 2008 Passat 2.0t motor had been skipping some, then epc light comes on... cut the car off and the thing wont start back...I replaced all the coils still no start... could this be the same problem with the crank pos sensor ?
It could be. If it's shutting down for no apparent reason then it's a high possibility that the crank sensor is bad. Do you have a way to scan it?
We scanned it and it came up engine misfire on cylinder 1,2,3 & 4 we replaced the coils & it says crank position sensor and intake manifold runner. The manifold runner arm thing pops out when you try to crank it & smoke comes out.
Have you checked the intake for carbon build up. Honestly you just gotta hit up the discord (in description) because this kind of problem is very difficult to nail down and I'll need as much information as possible, pictures etc..

Maybe, but that's one of the problems is it totally can NOT set a code and the car just shuts down and leaves no clue. Thankfully this crank sensor is SUPER easy to get too.
Lett me ask you this, and I hope to get a good answer: I have Skode Octavia A5 2005, and this light comes up and it doesn't disappear, so the ESP warning light in the dashboard, that cause the brake light doesn't come up as this is an automatic car, and the surprise that the gear is stuck on Park, and never move.
Note: my car does not have a shift lock button to release the gear unfortunately.
What could be the problem here??

hello i have a 2005 audi a4 3.2 liter v6 quattro. When i try to turn on the car first thing in morning it cranks but i have to give it gas to fully turn it on. If i don't give it gas the EPC light comes on and then when i try again to turn it on(without pressing gas pedal) it turns on like normal. I went to dealership paid $300 for new battery they also checked my alternator and said everything is good....but I'm still having the same issue i don't know what it could be? do you think spark plugs or speed sensor? or crank sensor? or starter? Oh and its been 3 days since i got the new battery i tested it today and the battery is already at 95% but i live in michigan could also be cold weather please help this car is driving me nuts lol
Is the check-engine light on? (not while cranking, but when running). Do you have a code reader to find out? It sounds like they didn't re-adapt the throttle. If your battery goes dead or you disconnect it, the throttlebody can lose it's settings and refuse to run right. To fix that you need a factory capable scan tool to run that adaptation. I'd look for bad grounds and the like in your case because if it lost it while having a new battery, then it must be losing connection somewhere.

What if the cars starting but when I put it in drive it buckles on me like it doesnt want to go anywhere. Epc light and motor light are on. This is on audi tt 2013 tho.

Turn your car off to fill up and don’t try to pump more in after pump stops. It will mess up your canister purge valve (CPV)
Before you do all this, make sure you fuel tank and injection is clean. THEN unplug your battery on both ends for about 5 minutes AFTER THAT take your key and spare fob and reprogram it to your car (there are tutorials online) IF THAT DOESNT WORK get your immobilizer deleted or replace this sensor (whichever you can afford). those are all the ways to fix this problem from multiple different mechanics and shops. I hope his works for you!
Please help! Showed a code for the crank sensor then replaced it then was given an open circuit code (P0651) along with P0343. I’ve replaced the cam sensor twice and the plug for it. Cleaned all the grounds and repaired a broken wire on the sensor with a new plug. Please help I cannot fix this

I think I have a problem with my passat, I went down a street and started to pull up and the epc came on and the car died, now I can not turn it on, turn it on for 2 seconds and then die again, I can not find the fault, and the Mechanics in my city are not good with German cars, do you think it's the same problem?

That is more likely the throttle body itself. If your battery has lost it's charge, it may have lost it's basic setting in the throttle and needs to be re-adapted. It could also be the throttle going bad. Usually the crank sensor here will cause a no-start condition. Go to a local parts supplier and scan for what codes it has in it (Throttle Adaptation limit reached possibly). Feel free to stop by the stream or discord for more direct help :P
+deamonmachine it sometimes will shut of on me to but you think it can need a clean . I put in a new gas pump new gas filter and a regulator aswell
Manuel Cal Cleaning the throttle is never a bad idea. The crank sensor on your car would be in a different spot as well. It's down and right of the oil filter (easiest to do with the oil filter off) It takes a 5mm allen key/socket to remove (may also be 10mm socket too on that one).

Manuel Cal may 2005 VW GOLF 2.O would have that and it was the brake light switch under the brake pedal easy fix it was under $20.00 and it took me less than 30 minutes

I found the code ,po 340 from Audi A6 2.7. ND I replaced the camshaft sensor ,ND won't start anyway ..the mechanic told me ,it's the fuel pump. Etc
