I like how strive homogenized a lot of things that like wake up timings, back dashes, and even gallings to some extent, but I wish it felt as fast and free as xrd. I'm just getting back in the fighting games so I have a question.
      But I'll start with some back story first.
      Wanted to get back into fighting games just to have fun. I picked up Tekken 8 and did not like it (could tell it was a good game just not for me right now)
      So even though Street fighter 6 had been out for I don't know 8-9 months I grabbed that up and I am enjoying it so far. I got myself the Kitsune (figure I'd learn two things at once and maybe I'll be decent by the next major fight game release)
      I suck at it but I'm having fun.
      Then I found guilty gear strive I don't even remember how but only like 3 weeks ago.
      I think strive is so much fun to play.
      Would there be a reason I should get this one too?
      But is the game different enough to warrant having two similar games.
      (I found strive very different from Street fighter and Street fighter very different from Tekken)
      Is there something that a new person would notice between the games.
      I asked because if it's similar I know it'll be a good game but I can't get bike reasonable subjective information from these videos cuz everyone sensationalizes everything or super hyperbolic.
      There is some questions and there somewhere sorry for this diatribe but thank you for any response

    Hey LK, just wondering, as a high-level player what are the aspects of Xrd and Strive to you like more than the other. I understand your dislike for YRC, and it does make a lot of the top teirs stronger, but I also think it gives me things to consider when using my meter in the heat of a fight wheras in Strive it just feels like RC when you wiff or wanna mixup, super on wall splat. (An oversimplification I know) I also think that playing defense is strive is more fun because you and your opponent have more options to deal with it, rather than just YRC, Mash, or if you're feeling risky grab. Also I wanted to ask about strive damage, I like doing big bombos, but I think the game is less fun overall because you have less options and are punished more for mistakes, making it feel like there's a good and bad choice rather than a scale of worst to best choice. Sorry for the long comment I just really wanted to hear from someone who likes strive and plays it at a far higher level then a floor 10 player.

      It's not that big of a deal for Venom. A few characters are a bit faster or a bit slower, so you just delay ball hits slightly in some cases or just do things immediately in others. I"ve mained venom for almost 2 years in +R and the only 2 characters that I really had to think hard about were ABA (very very slow wakeup time, which means more balls!) and Chipp (weird interactions with venom 2d). Reversal options are more what you have to consider than wakeup timings. Now MILIA has to be very very close to the opponent to do disc oki...hence all the knowledge on wakeup timings.

    I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna have a blast with Xrd for a few days and then it'll just drop off again. Same thing happened when BBCF got rollback. There's a lot of cool stuff in Xrd, but once the novelty wears off people will just get tired of the more tedious aspects. Playing Xrd is a lot of fun, buckling down and actually learning it though is going to turn off all but the really dedicated players.

    I like when games force things back to neutral, whether stage transitions, tech throw distance, counter mechanics etc that help prevent snowballing. Umvc3 I notorious for snowballing with teams set ups specifically designed to touch of death from the start and prevent any opponent from playing the game ie Ironman Dante X23 dapvids team designed around infinites and unblockables! If umvc3 introduced a one get out of a combo counter, the game would be drastically different and infinites would be near impossible because you'd be given the resources to break it!

      It depends, if the defender has decent defensive options (e.g delay tech, reversals, IB, pushblock, invul backdash, etc.) I think the aggressor should be able to snowball a win if they make the right reads. GG has always had some dicey situations on defense, but it was never as polarizing as Marvel, and to me Strive feels like the worst of both worlds. The defensive options are either neutered (the IB change) or strong in an unnuanced way (the recent FD change), and the changes to offense were similar. You don't get to pop off on offense as much but it's still frustrating to play defense in a lot of matches.

    Something I came to research and realize after hearing complaints about Strive gatlings for the Nth time: In Strive, most characters' c.S are plus, with no wrinkles. In XXACR and Xrd, some c.S are plus, but nearly every c.S is minus or even on IB. There are two exceptions: Johnny's c.S after level 2 mist cancel, and Raoh. There seems to be a running theme in all these games that you don't *just* get to chain into a move that's always plus and can be jump cancelled on block (cue a reply stating a counterexample I missed, because Guilty Gear lol), yet that's what would be granted to most characters in Strive if you simply gave them old gatlings back.
    It kind of makes me wonder how much of Strive's character power being "low" is really due to the characters' actual toolsets and how much is due to the system mechanics. If Strive's characters were ported to XX or Xrd with re-standardized air dash frame data and such, how strong would they be?

    • @NeoBoneGirl
      @NeoBoneGirl ปีที่แล้ว +10

      they would all be quite weak. meaty cS is not as dominant as it is in Strive when you can IB to make it less plus, they can't do it point blank because of 1f throws, and backdashes are like twice as invincible on average in other games. Happy Chaos would probably be worse than the worst Xrd character, and would DEFINITELY be worse than the worst +r character

    • @capefeather
      @capefeather ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NeoBoneGirl Yeah I guess XX and Xrd have a whole bunch of defensive mechanics that would make things at least more complicated for a Strive character. Though, that's still Strive's characters being weaker due to system mechanics more than their individual qualities. (I also meant realigning their frame data to offset the IB frame penalty, but at that point I guess it's just a simpler thought experiment to port old characters to Strive than vice versa.)

    • @NeoBoneGirl
      @NeoBoneGirl ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Only thing that keeps Xrd Rev 2 from PERFECTION is the throw function being hard binded to F/B+HS. I much prefer the F/B+D from Strive.
    Also, wall breaks made the game way more interesting and not too much of a lottery, because in older GG games, once you're against the wall, you're mostly done.
    Wish they'd implement the aforementioned to Xrd Rev 2 in a final patch (that also adds support for resolutions higher than 1080p and some miner fixes in menus and texts).

      Xrd is easier to learn than Strive for the simple fact that the game gives you more system-level options to deal with whatever problems your opponent is presenting in addition to character unique options. The difficulty comes from both picking and executing those options when they're needed against an opponent that's also trying to do the same in real-time, but the fact those options exist at all make the problem-solving aspect easier to approach as a beginner, assuming that you're dedicated to learning and understanding the game.

    • @FxCalibur
      @FxCalibur ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Its not, Strive is more limiting on what you can do whereas Xrd and back allow more creativity, thats one of the things old fans hated about Strive. Creative combos though, don't mean optimal, so find a bnb, learn a little bit of the neutral and you'll be good, down the line the more advanced stuff will make difference really in hyper competitive spaces. A good couple of beginner characters would be Sol, Ky, El and Sin, as their pretty easy to pick up, have good damage and still have a tools.

      Harder games are easier for new players like you. The difficulty comes in when you want to become *good* as in much above average because then you got a lot of stuff to learn over time, character specific match ups for each etc. If you like learning something new each time you play, great feeling for noticing growth.
      For a beginner these games are easier because simple games often devolve into fundamental play where skill differences can be seen much quicker, you lose at the basic game and have little to fall back on, in games like xrd you have a huge number of options to choose and gimmicks to use, the characters themselves are much stronger, so even if you are worse than the opponent, unless you face someone significantly better, odds are you get much more hits in because you should know your character more than the opponent and this is more than a basic strike throw thing.

Also, hope ArcSys put more budget on marketing their games since Strive is the only one who got those marketing budget, leaving other games stink under bad/unnoticeable advertisements.

      @@nowaylater6950 it's so weird to see asw do less and less SP content when they were really good at it AC and Xrd were good and BBCP was the king of it, there was also the funny unlockable character modes like EX and Unlimited, those are super fun to mess around but disappeared as well. Shame

    the only similarity between xrd and stive is that +r is better than both.

      All 3 are fun in their own ways. I do LOVE +R though. +R Slayer is just a different beast compared to xrd. +R Johnny is hard, but immensely rewarding to learn as well. Venom options also overwhelmingly cool in +R (sadly he is a lot weaker in +R than xrd). Im so glad I live in a world with 3 amazing Guilty Gear games with rollback. Thank you Arcsys. :)

    Bruh, old GG got Tekken levels of ridiculous learning curve. I hate it.
