Saturday morning car-toons.
Best comment ever!
Every Saturday at 10am, even the time is on point
@@fernandososa5547 for me it a 8am. Time to sleep in a bit. Then grab a coffee.
Ohh Brad, never thought I'd see your comment ! 😮
@@BoltsNBoost yeah, watching these guys is part of a healthy diet! Lol.
When it comes to drilling holes, especially by hand, air on the slower side. There are specific RPMs for drill bit sizes, refer to a machinist chart, but general rule of thumb is past 3/8ths in size place your drill on the slower speed. Bits heat up and dull quickly when you spin them faster than they can cut, so just slow it down and don't put a ton of pressure on the bit. Moderate, consistent pressure and plenty of cutting lube and some patience. Cleaner hole and easier on the wallet as you dont have to replace drill bits as often.
*err, not air. Alas, to air is human.
the larger diameter the bit the higher the surface speed. larger bit = drill at a slower speed (generally)
@@GleepGlop2Thank Jesus you were here to correct that! Now we can all enjoy our weekend in peace. Even though we knew what he meant. Goof
Yes, we knew what he meant. Some people can give and receive correction and learn something like big boys and not get butthurt, let alone on someone else's behalf. You try to enjoy your weekend too.
Yep, slow and use cutting oil
Yes. Need some soft boy spec engine mounts.
The key to ZERO vibration from the engine mounts is to use an OEM rear one. I've been doing this for DECADES.
Get yourselves a drill press. You lads do so much work that im surprised you haven't got one already!
I second this. A good drill press and some Kant Twist clamps make a world of difference.
I really miss fun, lightweight, easy to work, affordable on cars!
Keep up the great stuff guys!
Agreed! Only reason I haven’t upgraded my mounts is Hasport needs an “old man spec” durometer rubber.
You can make them 'softer' by drilling voids (holes) into them.
When you guys were complaining about that rear mount I thought “if they hated THAT they’re gonna LOVE installing that Hush hydro kit!” Getting that fresh air vent duct out is a real pleasure 😅
True
I was addicted to Hondas in high school. I had a CRX and an EG hatch, I swapped both with B-series. Sold everything and forgot about it in 2006 until a buddy got into racing recently. I searched for civics to see what happened over almost 20 years of taking a break. These videos remind me how cool these little cars are. Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to get back in a 1988-2000 civic, throw a swap in and hit the track!
Me too i love the pre 00 Hondas. I prefer the eg/ek for the bigger engine bay and interiors but if I found a nice ef I'd def buy one. I found a nice ek coupe shell for $900 but the wife said no we have no more room
Glad the intake mani went to good use!
Thanks for showing the struggles in building! A lot of channels and websites skip those parts...
The whole time drilling the t bracket I was screaming in my head Drill Press!!!!
+1 For soft bushings on the Hasport mounts! I used to have 62a street mounts with my B20 in my 88 civic back then, a bit much vibration. It felt nice to turn off the car after an hour+ drive.. (:
Hasport makes the best aftermarket mounts already. I loved the 60A in my K swapped DC2 ITR.
However, if they decided to make a hard rubber version instead of polyurethane, that would be a game changer! Fingers crossed they develop a hard rubber lineup!
It makes me want to get an old honda. Can't wait to see these ripp
The dowels for the pressure plate are actually spaced unevenly, so the pressure plate can reeeeeally only go on one way, so I guess the paint mark is just to make it feel more special lol.
I'm so stoked for this build. I've always been really excited to see a b16b in action and never had the opportunity in person. this is a nice consolation prize. haha
In a world where everyone is hyped about the K series, this is so refreshing
Needs ITBs!
Yes please soft boi spec hasport mounts FTW‼️had the 62a on my previous rsx type s and man did it feel like I was driving a vibrator on wheels. Make it happen Brian!!!!!!! Guys like this comment so they can see this.
18:53 Come on guys, you've got a vapour blaster, that Alternator bracket!?!?
Brilliant work as always PT & Dave 😉👍🏻
vtacccc gods are happy!!!
Come on man, how can you not love these guys. No clickbait stuff, shit done right and relatable. Why does the channel does not have 1M subs yet. I would love you guys to do more challenges with other TH-camrs(G&G boiz)
Ef white civic si was my first car. Loving watching this series
I was in that same position in my S13 while doing the clutch master and tweaked something in my back that had me hurting for weeks. Ah the joys of being 40-something and still working on '90s JDM masterpieces! Love watching you guys work on the EF, makes me miss my '89 Si.
Moose coming in clutch with the vice hands 🫎
I love you guys in a not creepy way. The way you guys joke and talk is so entertaining and funny.
Impact reamer tools. Used to enlarge hub holes from 12mm to 14mm
I’ve been tuning in every Saturday morning to this series lol Pete & DP are great! Representing Canada on the automotive content scene 🇨🇦💪
V-Tec Academy Bseries EF vs Speed Academy Bseries EF colab vid would be perfection. They working on Nolan’s from Donut medias right now too.
I think there was a plan to do an 84-87 build off but I think that was around Covid time.
This one takes me way back!! I had a 1990 Si with a B18C in it and it was a total blast to drive! I wish I had never sold it!!
When the drill bit grabs there are two things you can do. #1 is set the clutch so that it won't break your wrist. That alone could be enough but there is another way too. #2 is to put the drill in reverse and that way it won't grab but it will still push through... but only do this to get past the grabbing when you are almost through. Or better yet get the right mount!
This is nostalgia for sure. I did a similar swap back in the early 2010s when these parts were cheap. I did my swap to a JDM EF3.
I also used DA6 knuckles and hubs BB4 brake calipers and BMW Mini rotors.
Would be awesome to see a SIR interior in this thing.
The grind on the drill bit can make a difference as well as previous hole size. I use a pilot bit that's the same size as the chisel point then just sent the big bit though but in this case you are going 2mm bigger and will struggle with it grabbing.
14mm drill bits are know for wanting to rip your arm off, when I was build big trucks and had to drill the chassis holes bigger to 14mm or 16mm I would put a handle with a pipe on the drill and just hold on 😂
Now is the time with so many car enthusiasts getting older to start offering an option for softer durometer rubber bushings in Hasport mounts. Sometimes the wants of the customer differ from the opinions of the designer, but is often a simple case of "give them what they want" and it will succeed.
Who doesn't love VTECCCCC
Yes, this medium-old man is happy. Thank you 😊
Love the Honda build off, guys! Keep up the awesome work.
Pure inspiration guys.
Thanks fellas!
Love this series!!
Easiest way I've found is to use a stepped bit with an impact drill. Makes a world of difference.
I love Finnish studded winter tires. Good grip even on ice. 👌
Versatile Wiring - Did my harness 9 years ago! on my ef sedan! No issues.
Step drill bits are perfect addition to a tool box.
Pete with the wrist-breaker 5000 - lucky you didnt get hurt with that bracket! Drillpress is the technique, even a drill-press-jig for a portable drill. Also stepped bits help
Great video! Motor looks great in the engine bay! Can’t wait for the transformation to be completed. Great video
Enjoying this series very much. I have a 91 with a full b16b swap. Excited to see this thing turn some laps.
Great video like always guys! Makes me said a week ago a lady decided to total my beloved 04 civic, needed this to bring me up.
For engine mounts. I use only a 60a rear mount for my rsx and all the rest are rubber. I personally think its a fantastic in between. I could spin 340 tw on a launch with no wheel hop
Now that looks proper!
Just got a set of those Continental Viking contact 7 for my civic si for this winter (I live WI lol) and they have been really good at keeping my daily safe in the winter! Thanks for the Honda content guys. Love it.
Tell me I wasn't the only one that was worried for Pete's finger when hitting the dolly block with that huge sledgehammer. 🙈
Step bit works great for up sizing holes without the bit grabbing and tearing things up
Don't worry, I work in a shop with 20 techs and only a few know how to drill. Low speed with oil if the way. Ideally once the drill bites you'll have a few coils of metal instead of metal dust.
I would buy a set of soft boy Hasport mounts for my EM1 immediately if they were made!
This Is my dream build for my ef❤❤❤
Having already installed the hush hydro set up in a EF with the dash out. I had some serious laughs watching you do this.
Reminds me of life in 2000 messing with Hondas until I got into rotaries
Guys, for future reference, you can lower the rear subframe a little to get a wrench on that bolt for the rear trans mount when the engine is in place.
Great choice with the B16B. I've had a B16B in my EE9 (EF shape) Civic track car and it was so much fun to use. I'd advise a short final drive if you want it to punch above it's weight, with a 5.1 in the S4C mine would just outrun a DC2 type R on the straights.
I've since gone K series which is much quicker but definitely not as fun to use.
CRX since 2003 still have one can’t go wrong with a B-series swap love it guys!!
Ah headphone warning on torquing down the flywheel and clutch. My beautiful, delicate ears!
Keep it up y’all , I got a 95 eg with a b16a , gsr trans not the ideal motor but I love it
Great video!
Love you guys!
I have a 90 civic ef sedan with b16a 👍🏻 my favorite build of all time a ef with a Bseries
Taking dash out is a must when installing hush pedal assembly
All the Honda feels
For drilling out that hole, the correct method is to do exactly what you are already doing, but swear a bit more. :)
Love it Would love that in my CRX!!
Great work guys! Pedal assemblies are always a pain the fish out! Not sure if I’m the only one but the throttle cable always fights me! Clutch cables are so easy but the throttle cables are so tight and there is so little room.
Wish I had that exhaust for my ‘91 Civic hatch! Looks good!
Best way to drill holes like that is to use something rigid like a drill press, make sure the work piece is well clamped and the holes are a true 90° to the drill. Use a drill bit with a 135° tip.
Im on board for the softer bushings!
The music has great mighty car mods vibes to it lol.
For anyone drilling the bracket out, remember that the speed of your drill bit should scale with the size of your bit. Small bit, fast drill speed.large drill bit, slow drill speed. Also lubricant helps. Tap magic or motor oil.
des contenus comme on aime..bravo a l equipe
i build a 1992 sir sh4 with s1 box cable clutch with 16inch imola lot of fun
You should be drilling horizontally so you can lean into it. Vtech just kicked in Yo!!!!!!
He needs a drill with VTEC...
My go to Saturday ch👍
Softer bushings 👍
IT'S OVER 9000!!!
Looking forward to see what you guys can pull out of these two cars! Would also be cool to see what you guys can do with a corvette!
I use cutting wax on my drill bits with light pressure to prevent grabs
Rubber mounts FTW
Thanks for the video. Sounds was kinda static-y on my end though
When drill bit is grabbing, either light touch amd lots of speed, use a reverse drill bit, or finish it with a carbide bur, whatever works
Moose Clamp (tm) -- more stable and charming than any store-bought bench vice.
Bigger bit, slower setting on the drill, constant pressure and lots of cutting fluid. 👌 It will keep the bits in better condition too.
I agree softer mounts I think the street mount is still little to harsh
I agree with the mounts. I used to always have solid mounts and now I run 62a. No going back for me haha (although I don't mind a solid rear mount
Brian PLEASE make bushings geared toward us who want street friendly bushings. I’m not in my teens and 20s anymore! I want less vibration and noises! Lol
Drill press is key for a task like you had for the bracket drilling. Without that, its just going at it the way you did.
Great build as always! I would Love rubber hasport bushings for my fa5!
Put the drill in reverse helps when the bit grabs. Then switch back to forward.
Step bit is perfect for thin metal like this
I second softer Hasport mounts!!!
Although hardrace now has hardened rubber mounts for EF chassis…
FEELS
Moose sighting!!
DP, pretty much how you drilled out the T bracket is the only method, might have a slightly easier time with it on a drill press but fast but slow and steady is how youd get it done.
As for the durometer, the reason why its not ideal to go any softer is due to increased stress on the linkage while shifting and also pulling back on the forks while in gear, causing premature wear on the synchros. At one point Hasport had a 65mm but through years of testing they found that it still had issues that I mentioned above, not as pronounced as before however. Cant have it all fellas!
