- Unbelievable huge school of 100 kingfish swim by inches of my feet! I cast my lure in and got smoked beyond imagination multiple fails! Interesting and funny for anyone watching but it was heart breaking. Lures were surface lures; mmd splash prawn, Bassday Sugapen 70 and 95 mm (see below)

I remember once I tossed my bait a under a jetty and then hooked up and it spooled me in like 8 seconds, by the way, what retrieves apart from walking the dog do you use on the sugapen?
Tip - when any fish hangs you up but you’re still on, you need to free-spool for much longer than what you did - 5 minutes is not out of the question if you really want to get it.

Sydney sure is nice at times if you can take a moment to absorb the surroundings. Even some passing kings at your feet as a fleeting wildlife encounter 😁

It was 10lb on the light rod and either 14lb or 20lb on the NRX/Stradic. I thought I was going conservative for bream. Haha, yep PE5 is exactly what I needed! 😂

That’s so beautiful how humble you were after getting smoked by those Kingies and admit sometimes it’s the fishes turn to win. I personally don’t like watching people getting done, hard to watch, but some cool action too, can’t wait til I hook up to one. A big one followed in a small Flathead I was pulling in, the other day, right in my local Estuary, about what 90cm, lucky it didn’t hit that Flattie as had v. light gear, see ya!

Best video ever! Shroom. I’ve watched 7 of your videos and this one is my favorite. So action packed. Doesn’t matter if you didn’t landed any of those kings. Love hearing the drag scream. If you had to do it again equipment and gear wise what would’ve given you the best advantage? Thanks bud.
This video gets the blood pumping every time! Excitement, challenge and tragedy, a straight roller coaster. If I had to do it again, I would bring the medium gear (the one with the stradic in the video - still got smoked) and a setup a bit heavier (4000 Twinpower and 6-10kg Battler Hotdog). That *should* do the trick

Ha ha! This happened to me yesterday near Cabarita. Fishing for bream on the 2.5 in bloodworm grub when the Kings came through. Hooked up and lasted about 5 secs on 6lb braid and leader. Would love another shot at it!

I caught a 21kg on 15lb and a 2500 in nz when looking forward snapper in 4m reef and that was resting and then lost 3 more on the same gear, switched to a 5500 with 50lb and could t find them lol that’s e draw man.
Trouble is having that outfit for when they show up, 15 - 20 would do them but then try cast a slippery dog on that haha!

l know that location well as l sometimes take a stroll in part of the harbour foreshore, l rarely see anyone fish there. Been a while, l may need to revisit it with new eyes.

True CherryBoo65. I tried to get stuck into them from the second fish but pulled hooks. The first fish I was found admiring my work too much haha
@@ShroomFishing Don't go too hard on them in the early stages which you didn't. You were unlucky on that 1st fish. Around some underwater obstruction that you had no way of knowing was there. But you didn't let the fish run too far. You don't have a choice on bream gear. You should maybe take a heavier rod with 20lb braid just in case. That was great footage so don't look upon the day as a complete loss!

Oddly enough. A few years ago I fishing on Avalon pier in Nags head NC early one morning catching some Spanish and some blues nothing special. Next thing I know I’m fighting for my life on an abu Garcia silvermax when I hooked up on a kingfish with a gotcha plug😂. I actually somehow managed to get this thing to the pier and an older gentleman helped me net it onto the pier. To this day I could not tell you how I managed that, but what I can tell you is that reel never worked again!😂
They are insane once you forget how strong they are! That's a great story, that reel went through the ringer haha

Amazing footage champion, adrenalin is a bitch when your trying to tie knots or leaders! One of my most remembered days was very similar at Glebe, hooked 4 kings and landed none, but what fun ha, luckily I was only using bloodworm slim swims and not $25 lures. It hurts loosing that many but the great memories for life, ease it a bit, amazing video mate, well done,

Dont let security tell you you cant fish as its a public wharf and written into the bylaws but one of the best wharfs to fish off opposite the casino.

Thanks! I fish all over Sydney and you can find these places in the warmer months towards the mouth of rivers quite regularly. It's still difficult to spot but a lot of places have kings frequenting the areas

Would you trust a 5000 on a 4-8kg with kingy's
I would but just be mindful of locking up a 5000 as the rod is the limiting factor
Also got a 6-8kg but nothing more than that and it doesn't match the colour scheme so that's also a factor
Kings are the best fun.
Lucky they banned floating fish traps, it nearly wiped them out!

I think the when the commercial kingfish pens broke loose it help out a lot haha
@@thebrotherhoodlc Certainly added to it, but 30 years ago they were very scarce, DPI banned the traps and they made a big come back.
