Appreciate you watching! 👊
Great video. Took me some time to figure that out.
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Great vid Jim yes light lures are hard to cast thank you 👍
Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
Solid video , good helpful tips. Another good reel for light baits ( that won’t break the bank ) is the Lews KVD line . I’ve got 1 on a 13 Fishing crankbait rod that bombs those light crankbaits !
I like that reel as well...got a review on it. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
@@TackleJunky81 I think I bought mine after your review or right before. But it’s a great reel for the money
@@Oldbasshole 💯 buddy!
@@TackleJunky81 hope the bites picking up in your neck of the woods . It’s been really picking up in eastern Massachusetts
Good break down.
Yeah, I've been needing to work on my side arm cast. It's been necessary when sitting in the kayak fishing.
Right on brother! 👊
Great information for everyone who fish with bait casting! Always enjoy watching your videos! How is big Shir able to cast light lures on casting light lures on baitcasting?
Thank you Robin! Big Mike is more of a spinning guy. I taught him how to use a baitcaster, but he went back to spinning.
I like a roll cast from the side for light lures. I have a medium fast baitcaster setup specifically for light lures, weightless baits, and other finesse stuff like shaky head, mojo rig,and even dropshots. I have 14lbs sea guard invisX and it works great for anything 1/8 ounce or above. It’s like a bfs but a little heavier
Right on buddy! 👊
Nice , thanx TJ 👊👍
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Great video thank you
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Hey man , you are doing this with a DAIWA Zillion which is very well self controlled reel ! If you really want to do go for something round and just a couple of centrifugals
Nice video for us bank guys it can be a challenge to fish the lighter lures!!
Appreciate you watching! 👊
good stuff.....thanks buddy
Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
Great info!! What line diameter would you suggest is the ideal diameter to cast the lighter lures?
.285 to .330mm is what works for me. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
Cool!! Appreciate your reply. For the record, your channel was the very first channel I subbed to when I started searching for fishing videos several years ago. Needless to say…with no pun intended, I’m hooked!! 😂
Great video & info!!!! Thanks for sharing those tips. Question: When throwing overhead my cast seems to sail high into the sky, any tips what I can do to improve and not have my lures catch trees instead of fish? lol Finally go out but got the Big "W". Conditions were not great very windy and the lake was really choppy. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
Hey John, I'd imagine it's gotta be your release, try releasing a bit later or come forward a bit faster. I've had more W's this year already than any other year...that's not a good sign! We'll get on em soon enough buddy! 👊💪
@@TackleJunky81 Thank you sir for the advice!! Will give it a try!!🤠👍👊
Bad a bad day yesterday first day back this year I use a cc80 bait caster I been using it to cat fish I use a 1/4 oz free weight a hook and shrimp I believe I get 50-60 feet out is that fair or shld I rethink
Great video ✅✅✅ keep it up.
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Honestly…although one of your shorter vids indeed very helpful!
Appreciate you watching! 👊
That was a solid demo on side arm’in a 1/4 out there with fine accuracy and solid distance. The rest of us chumps with out all those skillz use BFS :).
😆 Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching buddy! 👊
I have a 7 foot Quantum smoke rod with micro line guides medium heavy. 1/4 to 3/4 baits. 2 Quantum smoke S3 baitcaster with 7.3, with Sufix siege mono 10lbs, the other one with 14lbs. It cast smoothly. When I cast over hand I get a bird nests everytime. I quit using a overhead cast. Now I cast sidearm and I get more distance with softbaits and hardbaits
When I first started bass fishing it was easier for me to side arm cast as well. Took me a bit to get my release right over hand.
@TackleJunky81 I started fishing when I was 9 back in the seventy. I used a side arm cast with my spinning combo. 4 years ago I bought my first baitcaster, its lighter than my spinning combo. Have a great day
I fish farm lakes from the bank. Trees, weeds, cattails, overhanging limbs. Lowering my bait that far below the tip is flirting with disaster. Any tips?
Great info, thanks! When I first started using a baitcaster, I learned a sidearm cast watching Jimmy Houston.
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Get it!!!
👊💪
Thanks TJ! What Aftco shirt is that?

@@TackleJunky81 thanks Brutha!
I was so hoping one would smash it while you was demonstrating the technique!!!!
Me too!! 👊
Hey, how would the curado dc be for light lures?
Pretty big spool for light lures. If you want a DC check out the SLX 70 DC.
Chick Magnet, didn't know Big Mike had a lure line.....
🤣🤣🤣
Which lure color works well in that murky water?
I have the best luck with a black back, with pearl or chartreuse sides or a red craw type color.
Great Video my Friend thank you. I think “BFS” is all just marketing to sell more Baitcasting Reels and it’s so much easier to just use a spinning Reel for a 1/8 or 1/16 ounce lure and a massive Headache with a Baitcasting Reel and I throw a lot of light stuff for the River and it just takes Medium or Medium Light stick light line and a decent Reel. I toss a Pad Crasher Jr all day at 30 yards plus accurately and easily. I mean I love my LFS I got new for 55 bucks but 300 bucks for a Lews “BFS” Reel Lol come on. If I had the Bread I’d buy a Zillion or a Shimano DC Reel or just a Pro Qualifier
I hear ya brother! 👊
That's "American" BFS style. if you buy BFS reel and a short Ultralight rod ( medium light or even light is not BFS imo) you can cast 1/8 and under lures way more effectively than a spinning reel doing it Japans BFS way. at least when it comes to small rivers/creeks. I got into BFS about year and half before BFS reels came to America... long story short we clearly got lost in translation as nearly everyone throws 1/4oz and up. yet when in Japan its nearly all 1/8oz and below. BFS Reels aren't just marketing at all... just we market them that way here for some reason.
Thanks for the tip! See your lake is still murky sorry. Debo almost gave a Zillion away then he cleaned his white board off!
That lake stays muddy most of the year unfortunately. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
💪
👊💪
At least one of us is semi-responsible with our “fishing budget” 😂
😂
What is BFS?
I see now. If you are going to finesse then use light spinning tackle with 4 lb line.
I still use baitcasting and spinning equipment that I bought in the late 1970s and early eighties. Some laugh at my original Daiwa millionaires and ambassadeur 5500c reels with no magnetic cast controls. They still work great so I will continue to use them.
@bobbyrobbins9816 right on buddy! 👊
Good video, man that looks like your fishing in chocolate milk.
Thanks man! Yeah that particular lake really never clears up...muddy most of the year.
Rigged up a rooster tail on my new bait caster the whole park heard my backlash
Oh man! Hopefully this video helps you out.
What is it about you guys north of the Mason-Dixon line? The past tense of CAST is CAST!!!! 🤔
10 4 👊
@@TackleJunky81 Did you hear that the past, present and future were in a bar together? It was tense. 😆
@@rooterdaddy6889 🤣🤣🤣
why not just use a spinning reel and cast twice the distance.
I can only cast about 15 ft with a light lure. FYI,I'm a beginner
Keep practicing.
Thank you for sharing, @TackleJunky81... I just Sbscribed and fish on! 🐟
My pleasure, I appreciate you! 👊
What is BFS?
Bait Finesse System. Basically smaller casting combos to handle really light lures.
@@TackleJunky81 so it’s using a baitcaster with a light rod? Instead of a spinning reel to finesse?
@predator_boiz336 you'll need a BFS reel as well. They have a much shallower spool.
