It’s hurting my eyes all that detritus over the car 🤮, you are absolutely right to remove all that ! Well done for saving this car 👍

Looks like it’s been driven at speed through Halfords.. I even prefer the accident damage to that chrome tat.. looking forward to seeing it repaired and back to standard. The basic car designed by Richard Woolley was more than enough! Autoglym tar and glue remover is spot on.

Plenty of people critiquing the former owner for blinging the car to life but frankly anyone willing to own & run a Rover 75 is a bonus in an age where most examples, even clean low mileage ones end up getting crushed or broken. He kept it on the road until the accident. Most modifications can be reversed. I’m of the modified school of thought & having been oft criticised for far more modest changes to my own Rover 75’s I just decided that offending the 75 community was their problem not mine. I don’t like the excess of bling & chrome on this one but if the owner did then good. Now a new owner can enjoy a standardised rebuild of it. Enjoyable video because of the back story & my own Pro-Rover 75 bias. The early Club interior is so warm & inviting. Sling it over to Boaty, he needs a new Mk1 75 after selling Ms Henrietta Pye.

I agree of course; very little of this will appeal to other others but it doesn't matter.

Great video. I love the Cowley cars, particularly with the Rover badge on the boot.
I had a 2 litre BMW diesel Conniseur as a company car - loved it.
Use Autoglym Tar Remover on the adhesive, it kills it.

I had a 2002 White Gold Rover 75 Club! Very comfortable and smooth. It was the lower-power 115bhp 2.0 CDT Automatic. I really looked after it and it was immaculate until about 5 years ago when I sold it. Very unfortunately, about 8 months later I went for a walk and happened to notice it with its wheels off in a local scrapyard. RIP WF52JYR.😢One of the best cars I ever had.

As a big fan of 75's I'm pleased your saving what could potentially be a very nice car. It's already looking 100% better without all the crap on it. As for the glue that's left, try a Catherine wheel, that's what I use. And for a name, what about Christine. Then maybe it might fix itself.

Rare is the layman who can improve on the stylists efforts of manufacturers design teams. I'm all for freedom of expression, non-conformity and individuality but not at the expense of good taste and aesthetics. Having ruined the quite tidy styling of a 1978 Ford Fiesta at what to me was a not inconsiderable expense at the time I learned my lesson, buy a car you already like the look of and leave it alone. I once bought a Cavalier with one of those backflash things that made the whole back end look like the lights and moved the number plate down to the bumper. Looked silly and I thought I'd just put it all back as it was but its a surprising amount of faff to undo this stuff. In the end I left it as it was and just stayed away from the back of it. May I suggest you call this car Geoffrey, in honour of Geoffrey from Rainbow who I found myself thinking about today and I don't know why. I'd like to think there's some memorial to Geoffrey, a statue of him in his home town or something like that but I have a feeling he doesn't have anything so it would be nice for him to be celebrated with a Rover 75 instead.
