That takes me back, the cheapo section in autotrader. you could always find something interesting in there. Got my first car from it, 82 vw polo, £125 as it was a non starter, wire had come loose on the starter motor, put it back and it went all over europe without ever having a problem.

I agree as my first car was a 1993 Rover Metro I paid £350 for it in 2007 and there was nothing wrong with it , drove it to work and back saved up for a Bmw then crashed that and bought a cheap Citroen ZX turbo diesel for £500 , sadly nowadays you cant even buy an old banger cheap anymore.

@@paulie-Gualtieri. lol, you could buy a car run it for a year and scrap it for less than a bus pass. But loads of these cheap cars had plentyful supplies of parts cheap & easy to get hold of.

I looked at a car on FB MP for my granddaughter last year, it was a less than 3 years old, low mileage, Honda Jazz, priced at an impossibly low £900. Further questioning revealed the seller claimed to be in the armed forces medical services, and was about to be posted out of the country, therefore to buy this very cheap car sight unseen, we would have to pay for the car promptly, then collect it 3 days later from a military base in Northamptonshire. This improbable story led me to further investigate the seller, supposedly based in Manchester, but who in fact actually lived in Sierra Leone... Needless to say that was one transaction that wasn't going to go any further. Take care all you buyers on Marketplace! However we did buy a nice 06 reg Fiat Grande Punto from proper genuine people who lived near Rochdale Hospital a few days later.

Cheers for hanging around while we found the cash, hopefully have news on transporter next couple of days. Oh, and we're ALWAYS nice to cats, them & dogs are better people than most humans.

The ‘Is it still available?’ button is useful to someone like me, because I overthink how to open up the conversation. My initial question is likely to be ‘Is this still available?’ rather than something like ‘Hello, I want to buy your car, please tell me about it?’ I appreciate your frustration getting 50 messages all saying the same thing but may I offer the hypothesis that it’s not the opening gambit that is the issue, more the nonsense that follows? I remember once selling a car, a Montego as it happens for £850, and three lads came to crawl all over it. Two of them got bored and one of the bored ones said ‘Just offer him £300 and let’s get out of here’. I told them they may as well all leave because it was £850 so they did. The next guy that came was one of those that pointed out all its faults. He mentioned the rust, I said yes, that’s why it was £850. He mentioned the red stripes in the bumper were faded. I said yes, that’s why it’s £850. He said there was a scratch on the bumper. I said yes, that’s why it’s £850. A six or seven year old car for £850, can you imagine a 2018 Mondeo or Insignia for that money? When he went back to telling me about the rust I was fully aware of again I had had enough so I locked the car up and went back in the house leaving this guy standing in the road with his mouth open. In the end I flogged it to a guy I went to school with for £500. One of the phrases I dislike in an advert is ‘No test pilots’. This implies that the seller is going to get arsey if I have a test drive but don’t want to buy immediately. I haven’t sold a car to another civilian in years and I don’t really want to do it again, do you think We Buy Any Car For Buttons have agents working on FBMP, eBay and wherever else people sell cars making the whole experience as miserable and as time wasty as it can possibly be to make their service look more appealing?

I've just come back to your channel as your ongoing space problem has raised it's head again. For some strange reason I unsubscribed some months ago, I really can't remember why, possibly I hit the wrong button when I was trying to clean up my many subscriptions. I do feel your pain though, I hate selling cars, love buying them and I still have 5, but selling them a nightmare. I remember once selling a great running, although not pretty Fiat Seicento for £75 on ebay. The guy turns up and seems happy with the car and off he goes. Then I remember that my parking permit for Woking (£100 for the year) is still on the screen. So I email/text him to ask if he could send it back and he answers yes of course. He never bothered and Woking council refused to accept my story when I wanted to transfer it to another new Seicento. Cost me another £75, I basically gave the car away. Woking said, "This permit might be used on another car!"
I said to them that the car had gone to Essex so that was unlikely. This is were the average man is shafted all the time, if they'd checked with DVLA it would have shown this!!

Be careful on FB marketplace mate as i tried selling my 2013 Fiat 500 on it , someone offered me the £2500 i wanted but when they turned up , they turned out to be a dealer and were trying to haggle me down to £1600 ! so i politely told them to Foxtrot Oscar lol , In the end i decided to just keep it and spent the £180 to fix what needed doing as i already spent over £1000 fitting a new Gearbox and Clutch to the car and its a Lounge version the best version they did back in the day , anyway put the cars in an Auction i think thats the safest way to sell a car nowadays as then they cant haggle you down.

I have used Facebook Marketplace quite often, especially for sort after bits for my MGF, I always ask, is it still for sale, because adverts don't get taken down, and sellers can always say yes, or no, how else is a buyer going to find out, if any item is actually still for sale, ? not all 50 are going to be timewasters, unless, its the seller being difficult, i remember a seller, offering something for sale, i asked the questions, they replied, agreed a price, then it went quite, i messaged a few days later, sorry its been sold, yes i agreed, to me, only to be told no we sold it before you enquired,

Ah the murky waters of selling cars. Way back when it was Arthur Daley but have things changed that much?
There is a lot of annoying spiel. Is this because people want to sound like they've been there and done that to make them sound more knowledge than you? So they use the tried and tested previously mentioned tyre kickers and test pilots. There are many more. People who say 'I know what it's worth' Just because everyone seems to be asking extortionate prices for often older cars due to a slightly low mileage- not infact always a good thing. Do they work for Zoopla?
My favourite is 'never been smoked in'. The seller presumably knew the 7 previous owners personally!
Something else I'm nnot sure about is when the seller says 'owned for 5 years' then when you check the MOT history it says last change of keeper 4 months ago.....
