I was trying to guess what you had swapped for and the red leather seats made me think Alfa 157. Then the 2.2 engine made me think you had a Honda Accord. I never guessed that it would be a Peugeot. A Peugeot from their deep sea period. However this one could be the best Peugeot from their deep sea period. I don’t have a huge amount of experience with the Peugeot 407, I did have a 406 briefly that was pleasant and comfy but jolly slow and quite plasticky. My only time I’ve knowingly spent in a 407 was a trip to Newcastle to see Nick Cave and we hired one for the trip. Geordie Newcastle, not proper Newcastle so a long way. Thinking back the trip was entirely unmemorable, so the car must have been competent. I have recently been in a 307SW, the prospect of which didn’t fill me with excitement or joy but actually it was quite pleasant. It was beige inside but a nice, classy, French beige. Like the lobby of a nice, classy hotel in Grenoble. It’s stand out feature though was the big glass roof like you have. It really made a short trip across a city in a humdrum car into quite an event, I could look up at the buildings and the trees and it made me realise just how much you miss travelling through a city in a car because the roof blocks your view of so much. And it’s doubly nice to be inside a Peugeot from their deep sea period because when you’re inside it you can’t see the outside. This one looks lovely inside with its red leather seats and it’s panoramic roof. Maybe you have to speak to it in French, like Officer Crabtree from Allo Allo and then it will understand you. I hope you and your Peugeot from their deep sea period will be very happy together. Perhaps you could call it Jules Verne, what with it being from Peugeot’s deep sea period.
I can relate to your statement, that you enjoy driving a car when it's new to you. Most of my cars are projects or saved from scrap shall we say, my wife has just taken my Peugeot, and I am driving her Fiat as a fault has occurred on it, and I must say the Fiat is fun to drive. The Peugeot I have has been incredibly reliable, and I rescued that from being picked up by the scrap man. Good luck with yours it looks a belting car.
I think it has to be Serge as in Serge Gainsbourg. A proper character and because you said je t'aimes to it. Looks like a good swap that should serve you well. Shame you got rid of the caravan with such towing ability
My dad had a 3008 hutch I think had the same engine. I found it drove more like a petrol engine than a diesel. Also, it had an hydraulic anti roll bar that rotten through and he had to make a new one, as you could only buy the complete rear axel assembly, not just the parts. Madness!
Pierre is surely the best name.... I like that Pug, must have cost someone a lot when it was new. A quite interesting car Some things can't be set up until the car s stationary French cars tend to have restricted glove box because the fuses are in there with RHD cars
Good trade Mustard. In the end you got a Car you NEED and Harry Secome(O.B.E.😅..) went to a Family that needed Him. Hope it all goes well for you. The Kids should like the Space Age looks and that huge Interior... and Wilma already seems to like it...🤪!
Do not run it too low on fuel... I was once on the A1(M) near Weatherby in a Peugeot 308 diesel which informed me it had 19 miles fuel remaining - I saw a sign that said SERVICES 2 MILES - then ran out of fuel about 1.5 miles short! Still showing 19 miles remaining!🤔
I wasn’t expecting to say this but I like the 407. It’s ideal for your needs, nice dark red leather interior, plenty of room for Wilma in the back and a safe it’s comfortable car for your family. It’s also practical being a diesel estate car fitted with a tow bar. Look forward to seeing how things go with this car.
Looks like an excellent deal for you. Meets your needs with no cash outlay. My name suggestion, just because it reminds me of something slightly large, curvy and with a big front end and backside, is Bella.
Yep like windy miller, I was expecting and Alfa then realised you havent reviewed one. I remember being squashed into the rear facing 3rd row after a session at the public bar. Was probably a nice car if had faced forward. Thoughts on the name come from a similar vehicle Fred (the shed) and Wilma making BamBam( flinstones) . Also a commanding frenchie was Napoleon... or french car lover Mr.Tickle...👌🦖
Call her Precilla. Only cuz I had a 623 that we called Elvis and every time you turned the radio off it made a sound like it was saying " er huh" and my then lady friend would say "thank you very much".😂😂😂 I guess you had to be there but it was amusing.
You know I love a pug. Yes I think a lot of people gave a derisive snort and switched off 😅 The character of the car is great, but the realibilty worries me in the way the a soulless Passat doesn't! Our C220D 150bhp feels quick. It does spin the rear wheels. 👍
As soon as you said red leather seats I instantly thought Alfa Romeo 159, then you said 2.2 and I thought ohh the petrol version. Then I was like maybe it's an X-Type and then low and behold look what we have here 😊 it's such a happy car! The roof is my favourite bit especially for rear passengers. I expected to not like my 406sw but I really did like it a lot. I can't explain why it just made me happy! Great video Paul and without bias excellent car too!! 😂 When I went to France I once met a chap named Guillaume so for me I vote Guillaume 🎉 Edit: call it Dijon for obvious reasons 😂😂😂
Thats certainly quite a swap, that long bonnet overhang is a swine for ripping off undertrays, i had a 407 sw in 2 litre hdi form and rapidly got fed up of cable tying them back on. Im not sure if yours has as mine had the dashboard revision but there was auxiliary inputs in the glovebox to connect up your phone with the correct cable. I had mine for 5 years and apart from a dodgy fuel filter issue and snapped front spring very reliable if cramped in the back, unfortunately dmf and tired clutch did for it but its still on the road apparently, those seats look very nice, i had half leather, im assuming its probably a zenith specced one, i reckon the allo allo reference too officer crabtree
Puggy mcpugface is my suggestion. Nice motor, Mr Mustard, however, I would never want one, I’ll stick with my old Saab, thanks, style, character and build quality is a win for me, you can keep ya gadgets and ya Frenchness.😂😂
As for a name, how about Louis. It’s a French name and if you know your history you will know king Louis v111 was also nicknamed Louis lion heart, a nod to the Peugeot logo.
Every time I go to view anything Peugeot almost on near side of the car is looking had wars with the hedge or wall despite the fact interiors usually really good enough some of the time backed up to the car behind or street lights visible cracks in bumper this has been 205s,309s, 405s etc so probably not the luckiest person to view Peugeot some drove really good just couldn't the right one over year's found few nice ones when Looking for someone else typically and they wear them out so I still miss out anyway love my average volvo xc70 d5 automatic 215bhp 😂 as a name Esme jewel for your steed wagon 👍
Never would think you would have a Peugeot i was thinking more like a Volvo but Peugeot have head gasket issues and clutchs with a manual but just depends on the mileage and if it been looked after then you be fine but its ideal for your needs
I think a mpg test would be great to see I think the car should be called sid the Peugeot it's a friendly old skool name when you think of a family man who has a dog the name sid comes to mind
Knew was a 407. I bought the 508sw hdi last week cheap but looks like Cyl head. Love to know if the 2.2 better tow braked kilo better than 2.0. The 508 2.0 Hdi drives zero better than the 407. They drive the same.
The front end is long because it has 2 crumple zones. one is for low speed collisions and is bolt on part. Is there a button that says dark as the vans have a dark button that switches off the ceneral display.
Does the aircon work on both sides? Direction 'flaps' can fail mine did. Also does the passenger seat fold flat? Lever behind the seat, Handy for getting a kip I found.
Shoulda waited you found the seat fold. 😂 oh and I kinda thought Peugeot took over the Rover position in the market, a bit sensible a bit upmarket and just a bit 'fragile'
I thought you where a woman with a beard but then I have also heard you refered to as being a wookie so am confused 😂😂. But you say your a man so am convinced now that your a man. Not a fan of the Peugeot body but the engine is really good. 😊
It mad me smile the way the manual illustrates the car's features with what looks like a lady of the night! 😀
Gerard Depardiue 😂, the 407 has a big conk 😂👍🏻, good family car though 👍🏻
Serge Gainsbourg”😂
I think you should name it Jacques Tati - even though it isn't. 😮

I was thinking Honda, too, at the mention of a 2.2 diesel.
Think that big front is because they did a 3 litre V6 too in the 407.
I can relate to your statement, that you enjoy driving a car when it's new to you. What a great and sensible car! 🙂 A friend of mine had one just like it for several years. It did the job perfect 👍
Ronnie Corbett as in the TV show "Sorry" As the car keeps saying sorry.
Very acceptable sir I’ve always been partial to a slice of garlic bread…
"Renée" I shall tell you only once!
Iron grey if my memory serves me right, nice car Paul. From the Reg, it looks like the first owner was based at Peugeot in the UK.
My dad had a 3008 hutch I think had the same engine. I found it drove more like a petrol engine than a diesel. Also, it had an hydraulic anti roll bar that rotten through and he had to make a new one, as you could only buy the complete rear axel assembly, not just the parts. Madness!
Presently surprised very well specced, Brigitte, as in Brigitte Bardot.
Slightly surprised by the Peugeot, Paul but it meets your needs. Hope it's a very good car for you.
Those coloured tiles on the roof of Nigel actual look quite good.
So jealous, I had the 1.6 version for 4 years, same colour, loved it! Always hankered after the 2.2 and that leather is beautiful.
I dont need a Rover 600. I need a diesel with a tow bar. Me too.
Pierre is surely the best name....
I like that Pug, must have cost someone a lot when it was new.
A quite interesting car
Some things can't be set up until the car s stationary
French cars tend to have restricted glove box because the fuses are in there with RHD cars
Dorothy Puddleduck, a classic name.
You've done well there! They are extremely comfortable, and reliable mile munchers. And, as you spotted, the rear is great for a picnic.
Good trade Mustard. In the end you got a Car you NEED and Harry Secome(O.B.E.😅..) went to a Family that needed Him. Hope it all goes well for you. The Kids should like the Space Age looks and that huge Interior... and Wilma already seems to like it...🤪!
Car name suggestion, Jean-Luc Picard - he's a Captain too.
An estate is always a boys name.....PERCY PEUGEOT 🤩
Or if you are going down the alliteration route, how about French F****r?? 🤣🤣
Grreat family car paul ,no idea for a name suggestion.
i had a 2.2 406 coupe , i actually quite liked it too and kept it for more than 2 years . something very rare for me
Very nice car. I wish you the best with it i hope you and your family enjoy it. I think noel is a nice name for it.
Thank you. Noel is indeed worthy.
Keith
‘Don’t press skip’ 😂 my finger was hovering at that point 😂.
François or the baguette as my suggestion
😆
Do not run it too low on fuel... I was once on the A1(M) near Weatherby in a Peugeot 308 diesel which informed me it had 19 miles fuel remaining - I saw a sign that said SERVICES 2 MILES - then ran out of fuel about 1.5 miles short! Still showing 19 miles remaining!🤔
You did very well out of that swap. We have owned Peugeots for many years and they have always proved very reliable and economical.
Haha 😮 nice new car :) big gap and overhang for euro ncap crash test things
René (Artois)
Maybe the long bonnet styling has a bit to do with being a longer crumple zone for crash protection?
Nice swap I reckon, One strange thing though! It seems strange watching you in a new...ish car rather than older cars.
I'd name it de Gaulle.
Looks like an excellent deal for you. Meets your needs with no cash outlay. My name suggestion, just because it reminds me of something slightly large, curvy and with a big front end and backside, is Bella.
Great suggestion!
Charles Aznavour? Une Voiture? Nice motor Paul, very useful, lovely interior and it has a certain presence too. 😊
Least the headlining won't sag 😉👍
Better safety as well - good for the family.
Its definitely better looking on the inside than it is on the outside. Hope it serves you well. Peter the Peugeot
Keith is always a good name, nice car by the way.
I think Gérard Depardieu is a good name
Yep like windy miller, I was expecting and Alfa then realised you havent reviewed one. I remember being squashed into the rear facing 3rd row after a session at the public bar. Was probably a nice car if had faced forward. Thoughts on the name come from a similar vehicle Fred (the shed) and Wilma making BamBam( flinstones) . Sasha Distel - why did i think of him? Bizarre, I've been watching too long 😂
Wonderful, and deserved.
Enjoy! 👍
Name: Vanessa Paradis - '(Purr) Joe le taxi' ??
Call her Precilla.
Only cuz I had a 623 that we called Elvis and every time you turned the radio off it made a sound like it was saying " er huh" and my then lady friend would say "thank you very much".😂😂😂 I guess you had to be there but it was amusing.
hDi engine good 👍, unusual to have leather call it Colonel Moutarde , French for mustard
You know I love a pug. Yes I think a lot of people gave a derisive snort and switched off 😅 The character of the car is great, but the realibilty worries me in the way the a soulless Passat doesn't! Our C220D 150bhp feels quick. It does spin the rear wheels. 👍
Nice one Captain.
As soon as you said red leather seats I instantly thought Alfa Romeo 159, then you said 2.2 and I thought ohh the petrol version. Yes it does have the aux connections
Call it onions as the French love them
Puggy mcpugface is my suggestion. Nice motor, Mr Mustard, however, I would never want one, I’ll stick with my old Saab, thanks, style, character and build quality is a win for me, you can keep ya gadgets and ya Frenchness.😂😂
Call it Edith Piaf
Yes, you'll have no regrets!
😆
Oh dear😅😅😅😅😅😅
Dolly it's well stacked at the front
😆
You have had a good deal there, the rover600 was nice but that Peugeot is much better imo, hope you enjoy it. Name I would say grace.
Decent estate car ,typically French! Quite like the seats, the tech is always annoying though!
Name suggestion: Pepe le Pug - wth an accent on the last E - pronounce peppy!
Its french, So Pierre the Peugeot
...... For some weird reason that I can't quite fathom, the name "Leonard" is beating away in the back of my head ..... ?!
I approve. On the subject of names, if you think its female, Roseanne Barr. If you think its male, John candy? :D
I like the way you avoid the French names
I have Radio4 on my Range Rover. But it also has live television
Fair Pierre
I had a bad experience with 407 diesel 1.6 diesel it was a nightmare electrics are shit I hope you're not having trouble with yours mustard
Clouseau. I just hope it doesn't drive you mad.
What with the smooth thrust of the diesel, and the leather inside, it has to be Serge Gainsbourg....
You should call it Edith Piaf, je ne regrette rien
Good for remapping these to 220bhp and 340lbft
As for a name, how about Louis. It’s a French name and if you know your history you will know king Louis v111 was also nicknamed Louis lion heart, a nod to the Peugeot logo.

Name proposal, Big Bertha
The Peugeot station wagon is certainly different to your other cars because it's French and the French do cars differently
Celine Dion, they both have big French noses and are both red on the inside.
I think you should name her Pauline Quirk.
😆
Shirley Wigglesworh (SW).
... Or Peugeot McPeugeot-LongFace.
Never would think you would have a Peugeot i was thinking more like a Volvo but Peugeot have head gasket issues and clutchs with a manual but just depends on the mileage and if it been looked after then you be fine but its ideal for your needs
I think a mpg test would be great to see I think the car should be called sid the Peugeot it's a friendly old skool name when you think of a family man who has a dog the name sid comes to mind
obviously with a chin like that it's got to be Bruce Forsythe or Jimmy Hill
😆😆
Name the Peugeot 'Rover', just because
Pugsly the pug
Pierre the Peugeot.
Knew was a 407. I bought the 508sw hdi last week cheap but looks like Cyl head. Love to know if the 2.2 better tow braked kilo better than 2.0. The 508 2.0 Hdi drives zero better than the 407. They drive the same.
Keith
Pierre would be a good name for a Peugeot.
@@richardhowlett7398that did cross my mind for this car's name.
Officer Crabtree 🥖
😊
Gérard Depardieu - both share big noses!

ah ye😎😎

My parents had the lesser spotted 306 estate.......it was so terrible, it was good......if that makes sense?
Pierre the Peugeot
I noticed that the spanner symbol was displayed, could it be that the trip meter keeps defaulting to how many miles left until the service is due?
I expect it's good on the road tax too?
Pepe’ Le Pew-geot
Hello “ PUG
Penelope
I'd be surprised if you keep this car long.
Why? 😆
It's not really a car that suits you unlike the Audi. A little too modern perhaps.
Jean-Pierre
Stephanie Williams?
Patrice
Michael itcheanus
Felix Myring
I thought you where a woman with a beard but then I have also heard you refered to as being a wookie so am confused 😂😂. But you say your a man so am convinced now that your a man. Not a fan of the Peugeot body but the engine is really good. 😊
