Dude, love the video, I'm only 5 mins in and it's great. We need more close ups of that dog and way more conversations with it. We love the dog, we need the dog!
Huub - I am really enjoying your cabin video series and I appreciate the time that you take to edit all of the video you take for the endless work that you do. The power drill mixer makes the work that you do easier but not necessarily easy. Too bad that the rain keeps getting in your way. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats Mate! You did a wonderful job ... all alone! I am getting excited and can't wait to see the project completed soon!! It seems your pet is enjoying this project more than us! 🏡
Looks very solid, you can build a skyscraper on it 🤪🤪🤪👍 well done Huub!! Can’t wait for the next step on this project.greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱❤️🇪🇸
Slaam brother great work you are putting so much effort in your project it's looking great it's amazing how you are managing 4/5 people's work all by yourself well done 👍 and look take it easy look after your health as this comes first GOD Bless you and good luck with your project
@@HuubVlogs Slaam brother hopefully you will achieve your goals even if it takes a lot longer just stay positive and strong as not many people have your skills and strength and ability in what you achieved all by yourself well done 👌👍

Hey Richard, I know, it is sad that I'm doing it on my tennis shoes that I used about 20 years ago that I found in my moms closet, to save money 😂. It could probably be a good idea!
Did you not create a footing for this project? I want to build cord wood cabin but I'm looking at cost and labor of even doing my own footing and it's outrageous. Did you research any of the weight distribution or is the rock sufficient for building on top of? How about soil compaction? Did you do anything like that at all or did you just go for it?
I am building a long rock wall, didn't want to hire a excavator so bought a demolition hammer with a wide spade tip, I have been using it to dig all my footings, best investment I've made in ages
There's a book I brought yesterday from Amazon I recomend it for anyone "building stone walls by John Vivian" cost me £6.95 bit it looks like youre doing really well so far. I like to build my own micro house off grid. Just looking for land at moment.
You're a amazing human being! I love watching your determination to make this cabin. The way you are building it looks like it will last at least 100 years. Question? Do you miss your Van?
Thank you Stuart. Do I miss my van? I just like to do big challenges, so now I am into this challenge. Also, the last months of van life (during corona) were not so fun, so given the current world situation, I think I love my current life better :)
I have only just come across your YT page and I thought before you went too much further I would mention that you probably need some sort of lateral support for the foundations, I am not a groundworker but I do business with groundworkers, I think your foundations should have been in a trench which would have given them lateral support when they have a load, worth checking as its better to be safe than sorry.
Hey allan, lateral support for the floor I think you mean. Yes, I actually thought that make sense to make it when I decided which flooring system I'll put in after the build of the walls... right?!
@@HuubVlogs No what I mean is lateral support for the foundations, or footings, you have just built, when you start building the wooden cabin it will exert a downwards load onto the footings, which if too much, and the footings are not retained in a trench, will mean they have a tenancy to spread sideways and then fail, much in the same way if you press down on a sponge it will go flat but spread outwards - unless the sides are held in place.
Great video, I enjoyed it. Good choice in music. I'm looking for documentation on old timey stone foundations? maybe even "dry-stone" foundations; any suggestions?
Very nice! Are you making your own mortar mix? Im guessing its not cement as cement is never used alone, so im guessing its a mortar mix. Is it a bad idea to just buy mortar bags where its cement and sand mixed already?
I am happy with the progress, I am very happy the foundation part is almost over (need 2 more pillars). Definitely not gonna be ready at christmas haha. Still have to decide on the exact construction that comes on top of it!
From what i know cement and stones don't mix well together. Mortar is the preferable binding agent. The cement will gather moisture (unless treated) and the moisture will crack and degrade the stone. But i guess the process is so long that you will not be around to see it...
Really nice, but you neglected to allow for drainage. The base should have been 2” minimum of packed clean stone to allow for water to not build up around the foundation. You could still dig a perimeter drain inside and out of the foundation so as to allow for drainage.
Yeah, I thought about that too. Tree roots are extremely strong. I think they're going to bust up the rock foundation. Not this year, but eventually. I would definitely take them down. It should also make the building process easier, having more free room on the sides.
Prachtig maar kun je ook geen vlogs maken in het Nederlands. (Er zijn meerdere mensen wat dat doen) mijn Engels is zeer slecht en ik blijf je toch graag volgen eerlijk gezegd. Succes met alles!
Working with cement is very abrasive, and if you don’t wear gloves or have a hole in your grove, it can literally remove fingerprints.... I speak from experience....
Your moving along...Can't wait to see what you finally build on top of your new foundation!
Thank you Jay. For everything. I'll get back to you soon.

Thanks Chuck. It's okay, it was only a couple of days of rain :). And after rain comes.... SUNSHINE :)
I find it interesting how you topped the foundation off with a smooth base of cement. I hope that your hard work pays off.
must say it Is coming along rather nicely. Good going. can't wait to see the finished work.

I was thinking, if you had atleast dug the foundation in to the ground to just below the frost line, it'll last longer. thanks. you're hard working

@@Michel-Graillier-fanclubmy mortar mix is 2 part Portland cement, 1.5 part lime and 9 part fine sand

depends. canon 80D or panasonic gh5. but this video is fully canon 80D
Hi, what are the dimensions of your cabin?
Great and beautiful work but putting the cement on top of the rocks so thinly was a mistake. Leaving the rocks bare on top will last longer.
