      @@SnakPakFlight I own the Virpil VPC Rotor TCS Plus Base along with the SharKa-50 grip and yes, it is very _VERY_ nice! I also own a Pro Flight Trainer Puma and it looks and feels like a 'toy' compared to my current setup which consists of the aforementioned collective, VKB Gunfighter joystick w/200mm extension, and Thrustmaster TPR pedals. FWIW - The Pro Flight Trainer Puma will be up for sale in the near future - that's what I think about the Puma Vs. my current (helicopter) setup! ;-)

    Hello . I've had msfs20 for 2 years and I would like to do the Helico but I encounter a problem with Throttle with Thrustmaster hotas Warthog, when I increase the throttle the RPM of the rotor decreases.

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not sure which helicopter you're flying, but this is a natural phenomenon if you apply too much torque. The engine can't keep up with the amount of rotor blade pitch you are demanding from the collective. If that happens, your rotor will droop because of the increased drag on the rotor system. Keep in mind that you need enough engine to support the lift you want from the rotor system. Since drag is a byproduct of lift, every engine will have a limit somewhere.
      Of course, it could be that you just need to reverse the axis on your collective input. When you increase collective just a little bit, does the helicopter take off? Does the rotor immediately drop? If that's the case, you may have the hotas coupled to throttle AND collective. These are two different things. Most helicopters have an automatic throttle gizmo of some sort, so you shouldn't even need to have any control inputs coupled to it to be able to do normal flying. If you want to be able to manually control the throttle, say for runups or simulated engine outs, then use a different axis.

    Thanks for the lessons on the MSFS Bell 407! Really helps me getting better, but still need a lot of practice. Was thinking about getting a new throttle cause the sliding motion of my Thrustmaster TWCS is not very accurate and kind of awkward. Would you recommend the Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle as a collective?

  • @Joshua-by4dc
    @Joshua-by4dc 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You need a Microsoft sidewinder 2 force feedback. Is a old flight stick, but it have force feedback engine that can simulate perfectly the force trim tool. Those sitcks with centering spring are not good to fly helicopters in simulators

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nah. Thrustmaster sent me their hotas warthog. Love it.

    • @Joshua-by4dc
      @Joshua-by4dc 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SnakPakFlight the warthog is a great flight stick... to fly "fly by wire" aircrafts, but if you want a good joystick to simulate force trim helicopters (or even older jets like the flankers, mig 29 and Harriers), the warthog is not very good, because the centering force is a spring, even a 20+ years old joystick like the sidewinder 2 because of the force feedback can be better than the warthog to fly helos, force feedback is a game changer to fly helicopters becouse it can properly simulate the force trim. Just for the case that you don't know force feedback, is basically a electric engine in the stick that simulate the force trim effect, allowing you to trim your helicopter with realism and precision.
      It's just a tip tho, if you're happy with the warthog I'm happy too and thrustmaster either lol

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Joshua-by4dc Lol, I am very familiar with force feedback. I've got over 1000 hours in a black hawk with a 4-axis trim system. I guess doing it in real life is enough for me, so when I sim, the warthog does what I need it to!

    Hi from a fellow former army helicopter pilot. I'm looking around to see if anybody else has figured out how to implement force trim in helos. I guess not. I think the current implementation of hilos is pretty great, but the lack of force trim is a HUGE shortcoming! Fingers crossed asobo adds this soon. 🤞

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem I see with it is that you can hold down a button near your thumb and move your joystick, then let go to simulate force trim. But I'm pretty sure most if not all joysticks spring back to center so what happens after you let go of the joystick? Seems like it would be "pushing against the trim" of the simulator.

    As a relatively inexperienced pilot this gave me palpitations. Letting go of the cyclic is pure life-ending in my tiny brain's imagination.

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lmao! Even in a UH60L without autopilot, we could get it trimmed up pretty well. A lot of the time when flying at higher altitudes (like when IFR), we would use friction on the collective to set our desired power setting (prior to takeoff, you can calculate how much torque you will need to maintain a particular altitude and airspeed using performance charts in an aircraft's operators manual). Then we would set the cyclic trim to zero out vertical speed and give us the correct pitch setting for the desired airspeed. After that, you could basically let go. I never completely remove my hands from the flight control area. Always guarding. But you could, in fact, get it trimmed up and have a stroke and it would continue to fly until it ran out of gas.
