Great content guys… and you are correct about avoiding a melody conflict.. I’ve been guilty of that much too often! Looking forward to more of your content!

Thank you so much for making this video! I was just wondering how I could incorporate some of what I'm learning in jazz into CCM, and this video was incredibly helpful.
Could you do another video sometime on gospel substitution and/or passing chords? I'm so excited to see what you do next. Thanks again! 😊

EQ is so difficult. I use Sunday sounds with iPad pro M2 chip. I really wished I understood how to EQ
My patches a little better. I feel as though this is the final step for me with respects to being happy with my sound. I wished SS would prepare like 10 or so EQ patches and teach us how use it on an iPad..

Ah yes, converting CCM players into gospel players...lol Seriously though sounds great, but I am curious about implementing these types of substitutions when surrounded by guitar players...... Or would this, primarily be during more "down" moments?

I've used them with the band, but I communicate exactly when and where during rehearsal so we're together. Maybe some people just throw them in, but I feel like that would clash.
So I typically do it on build my life, after the bridges we run a double chorus, both big. The 2nd chorus we throw in these passing chords to give it that little bit more oomph.
      Best of luck!

I personally feel like if I try something like this while the rest of the band continues playing normal chords, it will sound like I'm messing up. Should I only do this if the rest of the band plays similar chords?

If you are playing alone go for it (when it’s appropriate ofc) but yes communicate it to your band so you guys can hit that substitution together

It also depends on the experience of your bandmates. These are very standard cadences and good players will either expect them and join in or just pedal through. These things are not usually charted. Especially with the tritone substitution Seth demonstrated, the other guys don't really even have to change what they're doing and it will still work. You do need to make sure you're not clashing with the melody, though as he pointed out, and use good taste - if it's going to be distracting and kill the vibe, you don't want to do it.

Actually, if done correctly in “passing” (as named), the dissonance against the bandmates is actually quite good to add flavor.
Remember, dissonance is not a bad thing, and in fact for hundreds of years western music theory has been a balance between dissonance and consonance in the right amounts. In worship music we often forget dissonance and make everything consonant, but in fact dissonant is a beautiful thing when done right and in fact I think is glorifying to God.

Wait is he playing all sounds through or through the SK app? If he is playing through the SK app, then I definitely need that sound and those settings because that sounds really rich. To my ear, I have a feeling that’s not nord
