I was classically trained a reader, so when I had to play piano they thought I was lying when stating I was a piano player. In worship I just played dumb harmony with no direction whatsoever. Thank you so much for this it's amazing. ❤
I am in the saaaaame boat, classically trained reader, 2 degrees, but I won't step up in my church yet because I am blind and lost in the by-ear worship setting. I feel badly because our pianist hasn't been able to come much lately, and the lifetime of classical training means little here. But this type of video is helping me pull the pieces together. God will do the work in me 🙏🏾
haha, I'm also in the same boat, I play primarily jazz at an intermediate to advanced level but I'm very comfortable sight-reading and I need actually sheet music to play. I want to be able to contribute to worship team so I'm trying to learn to be able to do this all as well!
We don't currently have a keyboard / pianist in our band, so I'm trying to take my childhood piano lessons and apply them to what we do today, and this is super helpful.
Here's the deal. I'm a fairly experienced guitar player with okay music theory and a very novice keyboard player.....this is the BEST explanation of inversions I've ever heard. This was worth it JUST for that explanation.
This was easy to follow. I will have to watch a hundred time to perfect it but I will get it. I play at my church. Just a beginner, I hope this will advance my playing. Thanks for the video!
Very helpful. Thank you for sharing this. I am the keyboardist in our church and I play some progressive chords as background. As example to your given chords, I add a little spice in it. So, like, instead of playing, C F Am G-I'll make it, C FM7 E/G# Am11-Am Gsus4-Gsus2 CM7
i have never played a piano or a keyboard, but now i am having a mini home studio practicing to produce music.. through youtube piano tutorials, i am begining to know about keys, i mean the major and the minor keys. bravo to my tutors.
Amazing tips! I’ve played keys for praise for around 4 years- this video totally enwraps how I began this wonderful journey 💕 Perfect video for beginners looking to learn worship piano.
Thank you So Much Team Sunday Sounds, I was horrible at Playing worships in my Church but with this i have been able to better my skills, still practicing tho but i can already tell the difference. Thank you
Great tips here. One thing I really like about the inverted positions is being able to play the melody of a worship song while still keeping the chords going with my right hand. I love subtle chord changes and the sound of dissonance or tension that you can then resolve.
thanks for the chord tricks. I also use sus to remove the major/minor feel out of chords. I appreciate the deeper example of the 2 "talking" notes that guide the flow. the layered-in pad sounds great.
Been hoping for something like this for a while! I'm a guitarist hoping to learn enough keys so I can do both in a pinch as I'm at a small church that is short of musicians. This is super helpful. Looking forward to more like this!
Gracias hermano por este gran aporte que haces y con tanta elocuencia, es mui gratificante aprender a maestros que de verda quueren que todos aprendamos y mejoremos el servicio a Dios. Gracias
Hi, I’ve been playing worship keyboard for awhile and have incorporated these tips. Great tips!! However, I’ve searched online for tips on how to play keyboard /piano as the lead while Pastor is talking and how to transition into a different key smoothly during worship set. Basically, I’m looking for that next level of playing that requires improvisation fills etc. It would be amazing to have a video on an intermediate and advance level. Thanks:)
There aren’t enough solid tutorials geared for worship bassoon players… muscle memory and head knowledge so far have left me flat every time I attempt the Gsus chord on my bassoon. 😢
The Amazon link to the earbuds says no longer available period should I wait for you to repost the link so you can get credit? Where should I go ahead and buy Without your link?
Lol exactly.. this type of harmony does not really fit in worship songs. And even if you do, at least spread out the chord position so the B and C won't clash much.
Did he name the chords letters or did I miss that??! Lesson ok but NEED more demos than lectures , talk gets too boring! Wish someone did a FULL TUTORIAL on James Cleveland piano song- " Save Me Lord." L.A Mass choir did a good job of it just NO tutorial of what they did on TH-cam! Cover praying hands!
I missed it. But in our church, we make a joke about g-sus chords. when we spent too long in band practice, we joke that we will spent more time, untill G-sus (Jesus) returns.

Thanks a lot brother! ❤
I appreciate the theory behind the right hand melody between the chords.
The gaff tape on the back of the keyboard to hide all the cables is a nice touch! 👍
I was classically trained and have been so lost in trying to play worship style! This is incredibly helpful. Thank you!
i have never played a piano or a keyboard, but now i am having a mini home studio practicing to produce music.. through youtube piano tutorials, i am begining to know about keys, i mean the major and the minor keys. bravo to my tutors.

This is a great video. My piano teacher who is the pianist for our youth group, is a senior this year. I might take his place.

The Amazon link to the earbuds says no longer available period should I wait for you to repost the link so you can get credit? Where should I go ahead and buy Without your link?
For the F sus4, should I play a B or a B flat?
B
very helpful! thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How download and How to Buy This Software
8:36 bit of F5(#4) there, not quite a sus4…
Use with care, you will be accused of trying to jazz.

What pad you use please
How to get this piano voice
That is called Voice leading. Now, remember to always use your finger 1-3-5 never 1-2-5.
I guess thats personal choice? Even Use 1-2-3-5 for a more open sound?
Am a complete begginer pls help me
Can you elaborate on why you're playing sus chords? Is it for tension/resolution and to minimize finger movement?
Yes to both!
Bro the sus joke 💀💀💀 amazing video all around!
Make how to play
👍👍❤️
I got here trying to play blues
為什麼Fsus4 不是 F bB C呢??
Did he name the chords letters or did I miss that??! Lesson ok but NEED more demos than lectures , talk gets too boring! Did anyone else get that SUS Joke?! 🤣
I missed it. But in our church, we make a joke about g-sus chords. when we spent too long in band practice, we joke that we will spent more time, untill G-sus (Jesus) returns.
Please, please, study the meaning of worship in the bible. Music and worship are two very different things ..
SUS CHORDS 🤨🤨🤨
There is no such thing as “worship piano”!
Hey david you look too serious.
Whats the matter
😅
so helpful!!! thank you. you explained stuff well.. I appreciated hearing what to play between the chords
