@Nivarias Researching techs that boost the speed of your ships is always good. Faster probes and colony ships are great during the explore and colonize phase. Faster constructors are great when trying to claim resources before the AI. During war faster ships are great when hunting down AI ships/fleets or when evading AI ships/fleets. So I would always research techs that provide Moves +1 while they are offered at a discount. Subspace Scanning -> Subspace Streaming, Hyperdrive Optimization, etc.
@Nivarias you forgot to assign ministers for exploration, colonization, and technology which should be done at the start of every game. You will notice when you select which technology to research only two of the three discount slots are available because a minister of technology has not yet been assigned. The game also allows you to assign leaders to the various factions for bonuses. Plus you can assign commanders to pickup ships beyond what you could build in the early-mid game.
honestly, i love the Galactic Civilizations series. i understand that it doesnt perform well on your channel and that you'll move away from it after a few episodes. it does however make me sad knowing you wont finish this playthrough

At the start of every game you should assign ministers for exploration, colonization, and technology. Whenever he selects a new technology to research there are three discount slots but one of the three is disabled with a message to unlock it he needs to assign a minister of technology. The game also allows you to assign leaders to the various factions for bonuses. Plus you can assign ship commanders to pickup ships beyond what you could build in the early-mid game. I don't know if these were present in the original GalCiv4 released in April 2022 but they have all been present since the release of GalCiv4 v2.0 Supernova in Oct. 2023. @100stratman has a tiny channel, only 305 subscribers, but he has a better understanding of this game. Thank you for the amzing videos you provide us with❤ . Just a small advice if a serie dosn't do well on view in the moment on the long run it will bring more people in the future i saw videos gos from few K to millions in year or 2 ;)
During the game setup you can set the galaxy size and number of sectors. So if you don't want multiple sectors connected by slipstreams which are new to GalCiv4 and instead just want a map like GalCiv2 or GalCiv3 then set the numbers of sectors to 1.
