I haven't played a GalCiv game since GC2, but I remember the Korath had a very broken influence building that you could spam on every world you owned. I used to use it for my Influence-Domination games. I would just build the broken building, and some basic influence structures, on every culture flip, and the process would create a feedback-loop until the whole map was inside my influence (this required a moderately dense map, but still...)
That was the Krynn, The Korath were the ones with the Spore Shops that were instant win transports that 100% conquered a planet by turning it into a Toxic World.
@@AddictedZydrate I played the Krynn around starbase influence as they had a lot of that in their unique tech-tree. The Korath, however, they had _one_ (planetary unique) building in their unique tech-tree that greatly amplified _planetary_ influence. Other than that, they didn't have much of an influence game--but that one building created some serious flipping action for me on somewhat crowded maps (no need for influence starbases). I would agree that it was definitely counter-thematic to the spore-ship style conquest that they were intended to be used for.
I like the added animations on the video for volcanic and toxic worlds :D Also, good on you for posting let's play of this game, I just started and it's very interesting to see you give pointers :)
Entertaining video as always. Some notes: Clicking on the star lets you know what planets are in a solar system Declaring war can be traded for tech with another civ.
When you did the change towards the patreon stuff i thought we would still be getting the regular videos a usual. It was also mentioned that you would be releasing the first episode of each patreon exclusive here (maybe i missunderstood),. Considering how the last 4 videos for the past two weeks were sponsered or an ad, it seems things are changing more than what it seemed they would back then.
Despite the great content from ppl like our very own favourite Potato, I think that TH-cam is getting zuckier and zuckier every day! It's really zucks!
I’m the type of 4X player that plays as the peaceful scientific factions, be friendly to everyone, all the while building the biggest, most advanced military in the universe (that I’ll probably never use) then win through economic means. In stellaris, I’m content staying at the edge of the galaxy. Only expanding 2 to 3 defensive choke points out (I like to limit the number of possible access points into my space) If there’s a wormhole to the other side of the galaxy, I try to grab that too, but only claim a 1 sector buffer zone around it. This gives me better deployment time for any crisis that might happen on the other side of the galaxy, before it snowballs into my trade partners (I also like to limit who can enter my borders (and prefer closed borders with everyone, including my allies) but will compromise on military access) I get them to give me open borders, while I keep mine closed. (I just don’t want drama with them traveling through my space and planting that weird colony on the other side of my territory (Athena forbid they settle a colony in my space!) lol I’m generally peaceful, but territorial. (Forgive the Greek mythology joke/reference, I thought it clever)
I really want to like this game and I have been a fan for a long time. But it seems like they are not making any progress with the newer versions. The gameplay still feels like the same unpolished, unbalanced, erratic gameplay from early galactic civ 3 days. Ummmmm and honestly not sure how they can fix it. Sure there are improvements, but these improvements are things that feel like they should have been solved years ago, aka like the invasion system (which has been broken since gal civ 2 lol) The only appeal this game has over say like civ or other games is massive galaxies with 100+ civs. Their performance is bar non there best trait, but the gameplay is just not there yet and hasn't been for like 6 years. I am losing faith. P.S pro tip for conquest civs, orbital academies stack and apply to all constructions. Super broken ummmmm. Esp since you can line this on every backwater planet and end up with like 200% Hitpoint bonus and like 15 extra hitpoints. My frigates have like 50 hp now haha
27:00 "I don't think it's good to run out of food." Well, you're showing more insight than many historical totalitarians IRL.

WOOOO MORE POTATO WOOOO
LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
19:35 "They possess incredible strength..."

Loving the gal. Civ 4 videos. I played a lot of 3 and thinking of buying 4 soon. The videos get me hyped
Do you know some resources available for learning the game? I got 3 on Epic, bought the dlcs, but it's kinda confusing :)
@@voodooaa honestly, I wish there was a channel for gal civ 3 the same as potato is for civ6. I just got more and more experience by playing :)
@@Slokingseba Yep, same :)
Oh I didn't know they released a fourth. I played a decent amount of Galactic Civs 3, some good ideas in there
@@TheRatsintheWalls How does it stack up to 2? I loved 2 didn't enjoy 3.

Ah yes, the Korath Clan. You know they're bad by the fact that even the Drengin considers them extremist.
Potato once again shows that behind a thick layer of bugs, bad balance and questionable AI there is a good game.
Wow amazing edits, im so amazed by it!
Potato! You were talking about wanting to go back and do a civ 5 playthrough some months ago. Any plans on that happening?

‘Terra invicta soon’ 😢
very interestiing to see your approach iwth the Koratn. Good Video.
The slow zooms and effects added are super nice. Pay your editor more! 😁
I'd love to see a "how-to" play for Galactic Civilization IV.
There's also a scripted Korath playable mission looks like, I just started it, might require the dlc though.
I want to see Potato play Master of Orion. Not because I think he'll enjoy it, but when I searched I couldn't find that.
The right Potato for the job. yeah
PotatoMcKorath
Oh snap, 4 came out? I have 100s of hours clocked in 1-3.
Yey! Spacewarcrimesimulator 4!
Where is civ6 ?
Not a fan of the game too much but love the potato 8:31
Is this game better than Stellaris?
Stellaris has way more features and options because it’s been out longer.
Koraths! What is your profession?!
👍

Don't do these effects, they add nothing.
Chopping out all silent sections is bad editing in my opinion.
Very jarring and no real benefit
