  • If you want a great sequential switch for your eurorack rig, the Vice Virga from Noise Engineering packs a ton of power and creativity. But it's not obvious how the steps advance, so this tutorial should help you totally understand how it works, what the LED actually means, and how to get the most out of it.
    I recently bought the Vice Virga sequential switch from Noise Engineering - and while it did what I expected for he most simple configurations, it confused me on the multi-input-output configurations and even some simple ones. Luckily, the folks at Noise Engineering are so amazing, I got a detailed description of the behavior of the switch from them and once I tested my understanding on my own patches, I decided to make a slide deck and video to describe the behaviors for other people to understand it better.

    I have been looking at this module for a few days now, reading the manual, watching videos, and I still did not understand, how the concept of stepping works in a "multiple inputs to multiple outputs" mapping scenario. Your explanation is spot on, thanks a lot for taking the time to do it!
    And if I may say: what a clever module!

    SO helpful, thanks for putting this together! Not sure I would've wrapped my head around this module otherwise

    Great video. Just got this last night and this helps me “visualize” what’s going on better. Thanks!

    Well…this video alone deserves a subscribe!!!
    I was about ready to smash my Vice Verga to smithereens!!!

    Super helpful, have this in my drum case but really haven't explored too much just yet. This helps me avoid grabbing a Tesseract Selecta for now, will definitely look at the 2x4 grouping and get DATA involved for some tests.

    Many thanks Rochefsky! As I do not have this module (yet), I too have been trying to find the answers in the online material/manual. Without success. Your explanation makes it clear what is happening in Seq behaviour. Now I only have to wrap my head around the 1>x :)

      Glad it was helpful! If you have other modules you think could use explanations like this, I’m thinking about doing more 😅

    Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. I finally understand how a sequential switch works.

      Great to hear! Will try to do more of these - so let me know if you have modules which feel cryptic and could use some detailed descriptions :)

      Yeah this is one of those deeper tech videos for a very targeted audience (unlike my music)

    thank you! what is the pattern in the other beh modes? i’m assuming the light still reflects the output of the 1st input and the other inputs are in the same order as with the seq mode?

    • @rochefsky
      @rochefsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bit more complicated than that, since the 1>? Setting can output each input to multiple outs randomly, including zero. And I think you are right that the light reflects the first input based on the Grp setting... I have to test that again

    Does the stereo signal from the inputs also come out stereo through the outputs? in the option of 4 double inputs with 4 double outputs?

    • @rochefsky
      @rochefsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems, from my tests, that all inputs and outputs are MONO. A Stereo input ignored the RING and only took signal from the TIP. Hope that helps @cypheremusic !
