Very true but most peeps playing don't think ahead like that. Not saying most people that play pokemon don't think ahead at all, just they don't pay that close of attention to faint ranges or amount of turns to light screen fading and knowing they can stall that long
He used extremespeed on a ghost type, thought max guard would make foul play go first, used a 2 turn move right after getting hit with yawn, and going dynamax while asleep. I don't think he's capable of a "logical strategy"

When the opponent claimed hacking for changing the team I've actually run into that problem before. It's not hacking, sometimes pokemon showdown wont save changes you make to a pokemon.

The problem with most meta players is that they don't think. They see what's "the best," pick a strong team and do minimal study on how to succeed with said team, and then they proceed to never adapt at all. It's kind of a cautionary tale why "meta" can actually be more damaging to a game's competitive scene than help it. And that isn't just for Pokémon, but you get the idea. Sadly, they don't.

I think it fell off around gen 6 or so, but it was one of the most common ways to counter both burn and sleep. I don't remember if focus punch worked with it or not, but it was a counter-strat to what remains one of the most powerful disabling methods. Rest/sleep talk was common with just about every pokemon that had guts. The issue is that as stats got higher, it became less reliable due to the random nature of the set and it was most common on fighting types, which seem to be the game's punching bag now, pun intended, as for example, things like togekiss or pelipper get a free switch in...
@@FrenkTheJoy you might be able to.. if you can submit data to PS servers for a pokemon to use x move (means you have access to the game instance) there is probably a way to overwrite it with illegitimate values. “hacking your opponent” is also not impossible but definitely much more difficult.
@@MelancholicDays that's not how that works. The game logic doesn't live on the client. The client can only send one of the possible move choices to the server and the server will respond with the new game state.

My advice is to just play random teams for a bit, teambuilding is the hard part Just get comfortable making sound calls first, if you know Pokémon you’ll probably win more than you lose Also, pick a tier you wanna get into to. The way you play is wildly different between them

@@be7256 ALOT of fighting types hit like a 5 ton truck. Machamp has a base attack stat of 130 if I'm not mistaken, Heracross 125, plenty of fighting types slap man.
I go with a max def and +def nature max speed and +4 in hp Registeel tho, it adds big time to the power of Body Press and gives the option to one shot kill super effective after even just one body press, although I tend to get at least two off. This does have major weak points like ghosts tho, but can easily stay in if someone swaps to for example a Cobalion. (Edit) it at times can even fight through paralysis with using rock polish more, but it’s always crippled by a burn
One thing I never understand is why these people always opt to Dynamax their Pokemon when it's statused. I remember in one of your vids with a Pyukumuku lead some dude tried to use DD on a Toxic'd Rayquaza and then Dynamaxed it

@@aethix1986 Yeah the game is turn-based and server-side. Pretty easy to make it completely hack/bug-free as soon as you check every skill interaction. And, let's be fair, the people who made Showdown probably checked those before even releasing the game.
I love that the Mewtwo's speed would actually have been exactly 1 higher than the Decidueye, I actually went and checked max IV/EV Timid Mewtwo just to be sure. Then you went and "hacked" it to win. 😂
I really wanna see his team, because I feel like I know what he is running for Rillaboom that allows him to outspeed, but it genuinely feels like he could have won that had he not been an absolute moron. One move to prevent setup would save the game, Roar for example would be perfect. Keep your pokemon from getting Mementoed by doing Roar into Pursuit; either you hit like a truck and activate weakness policy or you successfully predict the switch in and deal massive damage to Decidueye for free. Another good solution would be to do setup with his mons that would help like give a pokemon a Chesto Berry or Vital Spirit. Small tweaks really help when you know exactly what you are up against and it wouldn't even be that hard or take that long.
Love these vids. Nothing I like more than watching someone make insane excuses for losing instead of finding out why they lost and maybe learning how to improve.

@@FrenkTheJoy you might be able to.. if you can submit data to PS servers for a pokemon to use x move (means you have access to the game instance) there is probably a way to overwrite it with illegitimate values. “hacking your opponent” is also not impossible but definitely much more difficult.
@@MelancholicDays that's not how that works. The game logic doesn't live on the client. The client can only send one of the possible move choices to the server and the server will respond with the new game state.
I love the fact that Decidueye's moveset is legit level up learnset
Swords Dance is kinda OP on Physical Atk Pokemon, NGL.

And yes its scary because my tanky pokemon can't take any more abuse if they Sword Dance up to ×4 or Belly Drummed Copycat Lucario.

Wildly enough though he did get the number right. Max speed investment and Timid nature Mewtwo DOES result in 394 speed. Boy howdy did it sound like a load of phooey before I actually looked it up though. So, props to "the power of me" for knowing the exact number of the speed stat he did not have.

This fulfills my childhood pokemon fantasy of having a cool team of pokemon i liked! Showdown doesnt look too friendly to new players though(much like any online game now), so i guess i will live vicariously through you. Loved the vid!
If you want to do it, you should. There may be a rough learning period, but it will be great fun
I started playing a few months ago and it only takes a couple of weeks to learn the basics, I like playing gen 8 uu and it's very fun
It's a lot of fun with friends, especially when every member of both teams only can use metronome.
My advice is to just play random teams for a bit, teambuilding is the hard part
Just get comfortable making sound calls first, if you know Pokémon you’ll probably win more than you lose
Also, pick a tier you wanna get into to. The way you play is wildly different between them

Bro you ever tried Registeel w/ Rock Polish, Iron Defense and Body Press in UU? It’s amazing, with one Iron Defense off it can just setup in front of Phy-fighting types with nothing they can do about it

I go with a max def and +def nature max speed and +4 in hp Registeel tho, it adds big time to the power of Body Press and gives the option to one shot kill super effective after even just one body press, although I tend to get at least two off. This does have major weak points like ghosts tho, but can easily stay in if someone swaps to for example a Cobalion.
(Edit) it at times can even fight through paralysis with using rock polish more, but it’s always crippled by a burn

One thing I never understand is why these people always opt to Dynamax their Pokemon when it's statused. I remember in one of your vids with a Pyukumuku lead some dude tried to use DD on a Toxic'd Rayquaza and then Dynamaxed it

Do mods ever message you saying they got reports you were hacking and then you have to explain that you said you were and was joking and the logs prove you really weren't and they're just "Lol, k, have a nice day" Or do they all just know you by now? "Another hacking report, let's see, oh it's someone who fought Tempt, lol" *Deletes report*
They probably just ignore hacking reports altogether, since 99.9% of them are salty losers throwing a tantrum. I have a strong feeling the only form of hacking that takes place on Showdown is account break-in via easily guessed password.
From what I've read in these comment sections, temp6t used to be a mod himself. So I guess he knows them and they know him.
@@aethix1986 Yeah the game is turn-based and server-side. Pretty easy to make it completely hack/bug-free as soon as you check every skill interaction. And, let's be fair, the people who made Showdown probably checked those before even releasing the game.

I really wanna see his team, because I feel like I know what he is running for Rillaboom that allows him to outspeed, but it genuinely feels like he could have won that had he not been an absolute moron. One move to prevent setup would save the game, Roar for example would be perfect. Keep your pokemon from getting Mementoed by doing Roar into Pursuit; either you hit like a truck and activate weakness policy or you successfully predict the switch in and deal massive damage to Decidueye for free. Another good solution would be to do setup with his mons that would help like give a pokemon a Chesto Berry or Vital Spirit. Small tweaks really help when you know exactly what you are up against and it wouldn't even be that hard or take that long.
For the rillaboom, it was using grassy glide, and grassy glide gains priority in grassy terrain
