As a non-German with German ancestry it is my duty to tell you to stop being a pedantic dummkopf and remind you that Deutsch quirks don't apply to English. In English, as I'm sure you know, untoasted toast is bread. Now, had he tried to claim that brot ist toast you may have had a point... But he didn't, so you don't. 🤪

In the US (at least here in New England) many of us prefer to have our fish and chips dipped in tartar sauce, which is made with "mayonnaise, chopped pickles, capers and herbs such as tarragon and dill" and squeeze a lemon slice over them ... though many do prefer catsup/ketchup (our version of what you call "tomato sauce" ...).

Nope it’s certainly not anything like a corn dog. Nothing like it. The sausage is different and the corn dog is more bread like and the texture is completely different.

Just want to add that here in the US, we call your type of "hotdog" a coney dog but the batter is stiffer, in that it is a corn muffin batter, and I think the stick is run almost all the way through the meat to help it hold up. Hope you get to try one someday! PS: love ketchup, but fish and chips neeeeeed, malt vinegar! And salt.

Coney dog? Maybe 8n your neighborhood, but it's a corndog in the rest of the country

The NZ ones are like the wheat flour version of a corn dog. I don't like them. I've had an American corn dog before (it was in Kentucky, i think from a petrol station) and unfortunately I think the American version is better

I'm an Aussie and grew up using a mix of tomato sauce and vinegar on chips. On the fish however, I would only use lemon.
